Once two men were traveling in an Indian train. One man spoke only Hindi and could not understand Marathi. The other man spoke only Marathi and he could not understand Hindi. When a railway station came the Hindi speaking person tried to read the name of the station but as it was written in Marathi he could not understand anything. He asked the Marathi speaking person in Hindi, "Which station is this?" He replied, "Kaay mantye" means "What are you saying?" The Hindi speaking person thought it is "Kaay mantye" station so he kept quiet until the next station. When the next station came, again Hindi speaking person tried to know what the name of the station was. He again asked the Marathi speaking person "Which station is this?" Again reply came, "Kaay mantye" means "What are you saying?" Now the Hindi speaking person got confused but he thought that the station which came before could be big "Kaay mantye" station and now small "Kay mantye" station has come. So he again kept quiet until the next station. Now the third station came and Hindi speaking person asked the same question and got the same answer. When he got the same answer, he got very angry. He slapped the Marathi speaking man and said, "how it could be 'Kaay mantye' station every time?" So the Marathi speaking person said, "Kashala martye" means "why are you slapping me"? and Hindi speaking person replied, "why I should have beaten you if you had answered before that the station’s name was "Kashala martye"?

This is just a jock. But you can see the confusion between these two men because they were not able to understand each other.

The same thing happened when Adam and Eve sinned against God. They were driven out of the garden of Eden and were separated from God and they lost the ability to approach Holy God because of sin. God became unapproachable. The communication and fellowship was broken. As long as we are in sin we cannot approach Him. When God saw the helpless situation of human being that they were unable to come and have fellowship with God and unable to come out of their sin, He came down in the form of a man. He walked in this world. He went through all temptations, sorrows, pains and tortures. He gave His precious blood so that He could make a bridge between us and God. He came in this world so that He could repair the relationship between us and God and remove every confusion which is in between.

Bible says in Eph 2:14-18, "For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father."

Today, we have access to the Father through the blood of Jesus Christ. Have you accepted Jesus in your life? Bible says in 1 John 5:12, "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." We can enjoy every benefit of God by reconciling with Him. Give your life to Jesus and He will bless you.

When God becomes your enemy!!

By Sheela Isaac

We have heard a lot about the love of God and the twisted and perverted versions of it. But you might never have heard about, ‘when God becomes an enemy’. Is it possible? Could the loving God who created the whole universe and mankind become an enemy of His own creation? Let’s find out the answers today.

Look at the life of Solomon. The Bible says that the Lord loved Solomon (2 Sam 12:24). He became king over Israel. He was a very intelligent king having wisdom and knowledge. The Bible says that in his early days he walked with God and because of it God appeared to him twice. 1 King 3:3, “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.” 1 King 3:5, “At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask! What shall I give you?" The Bible says that God gave him enormous wisdom and riches. He could build the temple for God, which was David’s long standing dream. 1 King 6:14.” So Solomon built the temple and finished it.” When he dedicated this temple for God, God appeared to him second time and He promised great things to him. 1 King 9:2-5, “that the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon.” “and the LORD said to him: "I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” "Now if you walk before Me as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, "then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, 'You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.'

Everything looks good here. God loved Solomon, Solomon loved God, he walked in His ways, it means he might have obeyed God and His commands and walked in holiness. Then what happened suddenly? The Bible says that as he grew older his foreign wives turned his heart away from God. I believe it did not happen overnight. It happened in many years like slow poison. 1 King 3:3, “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.” This verse clearly states that he did not fall in one day. He loved God one side but on the other side little bit of sin was going on side by side. He had a love for other gods and that is why he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places too. Unattended sin could create trouble and in the long run it could destroy you. He did not deal with this sin earlier. He did not take effort to correct it at the right time and it became a trap for him. We all know our weaknesses. Once we get saved the old sin leaves as we deal with it one by one. But many times you might have found that these sins try to return back. If you are not guarding those areas diligently it could easily return back. That is why many sin like smoking, drinking, quarreling, stealing, sexual addictions, corruption, backbiting and many others return back. Peter says that when a saved person goes back again in sinful lifestyle it is exactly like a dog returning to its vomit. 2 Peter 2:20-22, “For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." So if you are a saved person you must guard yourself in every situation so that you may not slip away in to sin again.

God knew very well that Solomon could slip and fall down and that was why God had warned him beforehand during the temple dedication. God had clearly warned him ahead of time that if he fails to walk in God’s holy ways God would definitely cut them off. 1 King 9:6-7 "But if you or your sons at all turn from following Me, and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight. Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.”

It is a very sad reality that a man with full of wisdom and intelligence who wrote more than three thousand proverbs, who wrote again and again what is right and what is wrong fell down. He who concluded his books saying, “Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all” could not stand by his own words. Eccl 12:13-14, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.” The Bible says that in his final days he walked away from God who appeared to him twice. He was no longer loyal to God when he grew older. He loved his many wives and their gods. He burned incenses for them and God counted it as spiritual prostitution.

1 King 11:4-10, “For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods. So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the LORD had commanded.”

When it happened God was angry with Solomon. The same God who blessed him became his enemy. 1 Ki 11:11, “Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, "Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.” The same God who gave the kingdom to him took away the same from him. The same God who was a friend to him who showed up during the temple dedication became his enemy. Later we read that God himself raised enemies for Solomon. It looks amazing but it is true. Once you rebel against the loving and compassionate God anything could happen. God had raised several enemies against Solomon. I am giving you verses so that you can read yourself and verify it. 1 Ki 11:14, “Now the LORD raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; ….” 1 Ki 11:23, “And God raised up another adversary against him, Rezon the son of Eliadah,…” 1 Ki 11:25, “He was an adversary of Israel all the days of Solomon (besides the trouble that Hadad caused);…” 1 Ki 11:26, “Then Solomon's servant, Jeroboam…. also rebelled against the king.” God took ten tribes from Solomon and gave it to Jeroboam. God tore the kingdom and gave it to another man because of Solomon’s sin. (1 Ki 11:31-32).

You can see why holiness is so important in Christian walk. Holiness is the essence of Christianity. If you call yourself a Christian and live in sin it means your condition is no better than Solomon’s. As I wrote earlier God is zero tolerant toward sin. If you continue in sin He will not tolerate. He will not bless you continuously as you expect. You might continue living in sin thinking that God will overlook, then you are totally mistaken. You might be living in sin and you might be succeeding in every evil thing you are planing. It does not mean that God is approving your deeds. Never forget that God is not sleeping. He would not remain silent forever either, but He would rise up one day to bring everything into judgment. If you are a saved person you need to guard yourself all the time. See how God did not spare Solomon His beloved. So you can realize that how much we have to fear and obey His commandments.

He Cares For You!

By Sherly Isaac

Jesus was busy whole day because multitudes followed Him and He moved with compassion for them. When night came and when they had nothing to eat Jesus fed them with five loaves and two fishes. Then we read In Mark 6:45-51, "Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled."

Jesus' disciples were going to Bethsaida but they could not because wind was against them. Jesus was alone on the land and He saw them straining at rowing. His disciples were in deep trouble but Jesus knew their trouble beforehand. He came for their rescue in time. When He stepped into their boat, the wind ceased even it amazed the disciples.

Are you troubled because wind is blowing against you and you are facing hardship in your life? Be of good cheer. The same Jesus who had concern for His disciples is concerned about you. He is willing to step into our lives and calm the storms of our lives.

In John 21st chapter we read that Peter and the other disciples went fishing. That night they caught nothing. In the morning Jesus stood at the shore and said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish"( John 21:5-6).

The disciples were frustrated. All their labor and toil were in vain. They could not catch fish even after whole night's hard work. But when Jesus stepped in, immediately they had great success.

Not only that, Jesus knew that His disciples were hungry after whole night's frustration and hard work. Bible says in John 21:9-10, "Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread." Also we read in John 21:12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"; knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish."

The care and love of Jesus can be seen in these verses. Jesus was preparing breakfast for them and by the time they reached shore, they had hot breakfast served before them. This is the love of Jesus. He cares for His children. Have you given your life in His mighty hands? He will not allow you to be drowned in the storms of your life nor will He allow you to fade away in the hardship of life. He will come for your rescue and He will provide for you. Where could you find this much love and care? Come to Jesus, He really cares for you.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it."
