Christmas is around the corner. What a wonderful time of the year it is when joy and enthusiasm fills the air. And why it should not be? After all it is the birthday celebration of the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is the birth of the only Savior who could redeem our souls from sin.

Angels proclaimed His birth with great joy saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men! (Luke 2:14)” Also in Luke 2:10-11, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

This wonderful Savior, the Creator of the world came down in this world knowing what He had to face. All through His life, He faced difficulties and bad treatment especially from prominent religious leaders. He knew about it beforehand and spoke often warning His disciples that they would get the same kind of treatment as He did. When He was born there was no proper place for Baby Jesus to be laid. He was wrapped in swaddling cloths, and put in a manger instead of a crib. "But soon His parents had to flee because the Child’s life was in danger. When He started His ministry, He was despised, He was sought to be killed, to be stoned to be thrown down a cliff All through His three and half years of ministry, you can see a group of people who were persistently searching for ways to kill Him. When finally they caught Him, they gave Him the severest punishment that any human being could ever get. They mocked at Him, they spitted on Him and they made fun of Him. The amazing thing is that He knew about all these things even before He came in this world. He also knew that the very purpose for His coming was to die the gruesome death on the cruel cross.

At times I marveled, “why He ever needed to come in this world for such wild people who did not esteem Him at all?” If I knew that I could get the same treatment as of Jesus’ I may hesitate to go to that place. Think about it, He is the creator of this universe who had all power and majesty and in comparison we are just like pinhead before Him. Yet He chose to humble Himself and to give His life for those who were nothing in His sight. What was the reason? There is no other reason except for the one word which can very well describes, “LOVE”. Yes, it was nothing else except His Love that compelled Him to come down in this world and to give His life for us. Bible says in Jer 31:3, The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.”

Today also He loves us and He wants to fill our lives with great joy and peace that this world cannot give. Come and taste His love in your life and your life will never be the same again.

The greatest Gift

By Sheela Isaac

Rom 6:23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We've entered into Christmas season. Here in USA after thanks giving people begin to decorate their homes, shops, trees, roads, with different decorations like Nativity scene, lighted dear, Christmas tree, Santa and reindeer etc. You can see decorations with hundreds of tiny lights and lights over the trees and homes. Everywhere you go it looks very festive. Here more than a month long celebration goes on. It is the time when we give gifts to our family and friends. Everything looks pretty good. Once when I was in India a preacher came to our home and he said, "if you want to visit US the best month to visit is in the Christmas season. You can see such a spectacular lighting as if the whole city was getting ready for the King's arrival." It is so true. I've never seen such lighting in India.

Well everything looks beautiful isn't it? The celebration, the gift, the decoration, the new outfits, the Christmas party dinner everything looks very good and joyful. But have you ever thought that it is not enough for our spiritual life. The things which we do in this world stays with the world but the things we do for our spiritual benefit is the only one which is going to last forever and ever. Without 'Christ - the greatest gift' everything else is useless and meaningless. Jesus came to give us the gift of Salvation. If you have not received this precious and greatest gift you are still lost in sin. The beautiful decorations cannot save you. The fabulous party cannot save you. The Santa and the sleigh ride or Christmas tree cannot save you. And the big Christmas celebration in your Church also cannot save you either. I still remember when I was in India the Christmas and Easter celebration in Church looked very attractive. Our church used to be decorated like a bride. The Christmas function always looked great because no one ever attends the Christmas service in old outfits. The service looked so short because you had not enough time to gaze at everybody's beautiful dresses. I could never forget those Christmas times where I could really feel the thrill of Christmas. Well that great celebration and thrill is also useless and meaningless if Christ has not been born in your heart's manger.

If you are not saved and without Christ till today the great celebration and the thrill of Christmas would be left behind as you enter into eternity. My friend the great beer/alcohol party would not help you (but will go against you) nor the great church services if Christ is not there. The Bible says, in Rom 6:23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Yes wages of sin is death and this death can be averted only by the blood of Jesus. There would be two types of death. One is spiritual death and the other is physical death. As we all know that physical death cannot be averted because every human being on this planet is going to die once. But the other death is called 'spiritual death'. You can avert this death while you are alive in this world. Jesus came into this world and paid the full price by giving His own life and blood for us so that we may not end up in hell fire. Yes by the blood of Jesus you can enter into heaven. The blood was shed and the full price for redemption was paid. Now you and I have the choice whether to accept it or to reject it. Salvation is not a process. By just sitting and thinking that somehow you are going to heaven would not help. Salvation is a one-time experience. The day you cry out at the foot of the cross and repent from your sin salvation takes place. 'Holiness' and Spiritual walk is a process. You can't achieve it by one day but you can achieve it by daily walk with Christ. The Bible says that if you call yourself as a Christian or a follower of Christ, you should walk as He walked. It means that your life and conduct should be such as it was of Christ. 1 John 2:6, "He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." Jesus did not do liquor parties, Jesus did not tell lies, Jesus did not cheat others, Jesus did not steal money from church or from others. If you are a Christian, you should follow the Master's step. That is why Jesus said, "be holy as I am holy." 1 Pet 1:15-17, "but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;"

The above verse says, "conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear" This is the key. If you have fear of God in your heart you will try to live a clean life at any cost. This is the season and the time to examine your life once more. Are you leading a clean and holy life? Does your heart do not condemn you for your deeds? Is your conscience gilt free? Do you know for sure that whatever you do your conscience does not prick you? If not and if you are battling with sin and you are not able to do even a single thing without a guilty feeling please think about yourself, Ask the question to yourself "Am I saved, am I going to heaven? If I am saved why is there numerous sin in my life" If I am saved why am I constantly speaking lies? If I am saved why am I in the company of bad (lying, cheating, backbiting, drinking) people? If I am saved why am I still drinking? If I am saved why am I still watching filthy things in TV? If I am saved why am I taking bribe? If I am saved why am I taking the money which is not legal to me? If I am saved why I want to destroy others? If I am saved why I want to take others property, money and things? If I am saved why I am in strip clubs? If I am saved why I am in casino, if and if and if….. I am sure there might be hundreds of 'IF' in front of your life. If you can answer all those questions sincerely you could save your soul from eternal damnation. If you answer any of these as 'yes' you might be in need of Salvation.

If you feel that you are not saved nor had any encounter with Christ please do not hesitate. Do not say, "let me live a life since I am young, I might decide tomorrow for Christ." Please do not say, "let me make money because when I get saved I can't make money in wrong ways. Well it would be too late. Tomorrow may not come in your life. Let me tell you that Salvation is NOT an 'emotional experience' as many think. It is NOT like a 'resolution' which you take every year then break it within a week or two. Salvation is a real thing. It is the greatest gift of all. Once you receive it, it stays forever if you are willing to keep it alive. Why I wrote 'willing' is because salvation could be lost due to sin. It is a vast subject, which we are not discussing here. You might have easily forgotten what gifts you received a year or two back or who gave it to you. But Salvation is the gift, which does not fade away easily but it stays forever. I am glad that I got saved nearly twenty-five years back and it is still bubbling in my soul. It was indeed the greatest gift for me. That is why I tried everything to keep it alive even after these many years. I am glad to tell you that the joy of Salvation which I received that many years back is still fresh and bubbling in my soul. Today I am preaching the Gospel because of that. What I received that day I really want that everybody should receive it. The joy, which I received, I am just trying to share that joy with others. Somebody said, "every born again or saved believer is the missionary for Christ." How true it is. I was not brought to salvation by a big preacher or a pastor but a young girl of just twenty-one years old brought me to salvation. Yes it is none other but my own cousin Suganthi Johnson. Had she not shared the Gospel that day I would have been lost forever without Christ. Had she not shared the good news that day nobody would have ever seen me preaching the Gospel? God saved her to save others from hell. What she did that day I am doing the same thing. Please do not ignore that great heavenly cry. Please do not despise the invitation. You may not receive this invitation any more in your life. Jesus is calling you to heal your soul, mind and body. Please do not reject it. Do you want to receive this greatest gift during this Christmas season? Then please pray this prayer with me.

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming in this world to save me. Jesus I want to receive that greatest gift in this Christmas season. I invite you into my heart. Please come into my heart. Forgive and forget all my sin. Cleanse me with your precious blood. Cleans all my unrighteousness in your precious blood. Give me a new life. Help me Lord to celebrate this Christmas with real meaning. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and taking birth in my life. I pray in Jesus name. Amen

Joy to the World, Peace on Earth

By Sherly Isaac

There was a certain man who had no joy in his life. He asked many if there was any doctor who could give him medication to get joy in his life. Some of them told him about a famous doctor. So one day he thought of going to the doctor and get help. He explained his problem to the doctor and asked him if he could help him. The doctor suggested various methods so that he can be joyful, but every time the man said, “I tried it and it did not help me at all.” Finally doctor told him, “If you have tried everything then there is only a last option that you must go to the circus in the town. There is a joker in that circus who makes everybody happy, no matter how sad a person could be.” When the person heard the doctor’s advice, his heart was broken. He said, “I am that joker who makes everybody laugh but I myself do not have any joy.”

This is the condition of many in this world today. They are looking for real joy but do not know from where they could get it. From outward appearance everything looks great but inside they are completely broken and depressed. Have you ever thought what could be the remedy for it? When the angels announced the news of the newborn King to the shepherds, he said in Luke 2:10-11, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

At the time of Jesus’ birth, the angels brought the good news of great joy for all the people and for the whole world. Why was Jesus’ birth a joyous occasion? The reason was simple because Savior of the world was born. By taking our sins on Himself and by delivering us from our guilt He is able to give us perfect joy and peace that this world cannot give. Isaiah prophesied about the Messiah in Isa 61:1-3, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."

All the above verses talk about the main mission of Jesus who came to liberate us and to wipe away our sorrows and to fill us with great joy. My dear friend, are you in tears today? Are you mourning today? Come to Jesus, confess your sins before Him and invite Him in your life. He will come and fill you with great Joy.

Jesus’ second mission was to bring peace in our hearts. Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

All the time I hear the leaders talking about peace, peace and more peace but most of the time peace talks end up in mere talks which never materializes. The reason is that true peace cannot come until we have peace between God and us. Our sins have separated us from God and there is a big gulf between God and us. But when we confess our sins and repent from our sins, Jesus forgives us. That forgiveness brings harmony between God and us. When we make peace with God, peace comes in our surroundings too.

Jesus said in Mat 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” God is interested in our peace. He wants to lift our burdens and wants to fill us with unspeakable peace. When God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, He promises in Lev 26:6, “I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid….” And in 5th verse God said, “you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.” This is the promise for those who really walk in the ways of God. But to those who do not walk in the ways of God to them God says in Lev 26:36, “I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.”

In this Christmas season let us receive the true joy and true peace that comes from Jesus alone. He is ready to fill us with His joy and peace.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
