Christmas is just days away. Santa, snowman, gifts, and decorations everything look beautiful but how many know, what Christmas is in real sense? Many think that Christmas has to do something with Santa, his sleigh ride and the gifts he bring from North Pole. Let us find out from the Bible what Christmas is all about?

About two thousand years ago the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."

Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible." Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her (Luke 1:26-38).

When Joseph heard that Mary was pregnant, he thought of leaving her. Bible says in Mat 1:19-25, “Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins. So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.

You can see that Christmas is not Santa’s birthday but Jesus’ birthday. Jesus the Savior came in this world to redeem the people from their sin. The day of His birth was known as Christmas Day. It is also not Santa who sent Jesus as a gift to the world but God. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

This wonderful gift of God is for every person on the face of the earth. Whether we want to be saved from our sins or we want to enter into heaven or we want to enjoy perfect peace and blessings in our lives there is only one remedy, Jesus. Jesus is the greatest gift a person could ever receive in his/her life. If you have not received this wonderful gift of God, today is the day to receive Him in your life. In this Christmas let the newborn king take birth in your hearts and fill you with the peace and joy of heaven.

We wish all our readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2007. May you be able to experience the true peace and true joy that comes from Jesus alone. May all your days be filled with goodness and mercy of God in the coming New Year and all the days of your life. A very special greeting card is waiting for you at: Christmas Greetings

What God Establishes No One Can Take It Away

By Sheela Isaac

My dad worked as an Engineer. When he was working he got transfer order. He went to the place of posting for taking over the charge. My dad used to go to the office everyday and sit there for the whole day without any work and would come back in the evening. But the said Engineer delayed handing over the charge on some pretex or other. Days turned into weeks and still he would not hand over the charge expressing several lame excuses. My dad was so frustrated by the said engineer's behavior that he could not understand what was going on there. After my dad took over the charge, my dad came to know what was actually happening. The said engineer was sending people to the head-office to get his transfer order canceled so that he can continue to stay. He was already making lot of money in bribe and in various ways. The Bible says, Prov 17:23, "A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back To pervert the course of justice." The Bible says that a wicked man makes money in various wrong ways. It looked that this man was also doing the same thing. He would not pass the bills of contractors who are working under him unless they give huge amount. He would make them to take several rounds to the office to pass the bills and pass the projects for money.

Finally he sent some body with huge amount of money to the authority for canceling my dad’s order. As he was traveling by car to go to the head office, which was in another city, he met with an accident with several broken bones and he could not proceed further. So when the last attempt failed the said engineer had to hand over the charge. My dad had to take many rounds, like the poor contractors, to get the charge of that office. Well I do not know why all these things were happening. No one in our family was saved at that time. So I do not know why God was doing something like this. I do not know why God wanted my dad to replace this man. The Bible says that love of money is the cause of all evil. 1 Tim 6:10, " For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." The love of money is so evil that people do all kinds of wickedness. It turns a human being to the level of a beast. Why fighting and bloodshed happens even among real brothers? The cause is 'MONEY'. If you love it more than God this money will become a snare and trap for you. Money is the cause of all evil so run….run…and run from it to save your soul from hell fire. I would not ever think of sitting in the burning fire of hell with lots of gold and with dollar bills in my hand. Let the cursed money go but save your soul.

I still can't understand why God stopped the man through accident so that he could not bring cancellation of transfer order. But one thing what I know is that after getting saved whatever God said he fulfilled it. All these years I have seen many-many God given promises coming true with my own eyes. It really made us as a family to proceed in ministry during horrible trials and troubles. We know it very well that one who is holding the rope at the other end is faithful to take us out of all our troubles. Surprisingly after few years we became the neighbor of the same said engineer. The Government allotted house of ours was next to their house. One day the wife of the said engineer told, "when the transfer order came we left the place with tears, it was too hard on us." She further said, "My husband had a deep longing to stay in that office." Well I don't know why they wanted to stay there and harass people for money. I don't know why they wanted to make that much money? Anyway you can't eat the bread of gold nor could drink the juice of silver. Then why somebody wants to extract that much money with injustice. I am sure the tears of many might have mingled with that money.

Look at the story of David, Saul and Jonathan. David was a righteous man but Saul was a wicked man. When Saul came to the realization that David could takeover his kingdom and could become king. 1 Sam 18:8, "Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?" 1 Sam 18:9. "So Saul eyed David from that day forward." He began to play his politics by hook and crook. Since he was a wicked man he wanted to see David dead at any cost so that he could hold his kingdom. He tried many things to destroy David. He became so mean like a beast that he decided to kill David. He threw his spear twice to kill David but was unsuccessful. 1 Sam 18:11, "And Saul cast the spear, for he said, "I will pin David to the wall!" But David escaped his presence twice." The next thing the Bible says Saul knew very well that God is with David. 1 Sam 18:12, "Now Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, but had departed from Saul. I can't understand how in the world if somebody knew that God is with so and so and still seek to destroy him. It is quite unfathomable. It clearly shows that Saul had no respect for God. Instead he ignored God and continued to play tricks because he was a wicked man. Saul did not stop there but went along with his army to find David in the wilderness. Look at the life of David who was a righteous man. He got two chances to kill Saul and to get rid of his enemy forever. 1 Sam 24:9-11, "And David said to Saul: "Why do you listen to the words of men who say, 'Indeed David seeks your harm'? "Look, this day your eyes have seen that the LORD delivered you today into my hand in the cave, and someone urged me to kill you. But my eye spared you, and I said, 'I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the Lord's anointed.' "Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it." David could have thought, "God had already anointed me for the kingdom and probably it is the right opportunity from God Himself." But David refused to commit wickedness. Instead he said, “I will never ever raise my hands against God's anointed.” 1 Sam 26:9-11, "And David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless?" David said furthermore, "As the LORD lives, the LORD shall strike him, or his day shall come to die, or he shall go out to battle and perish. "The LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord's anointed." What a great man he was! He was willing to walk in God's ways. He was willing to let the opportunity of kingdom go for the cost of clean life.

Look at the life of another man Jonathan. He was the legal heir of the kingdom. As he was the son of king Saul, legally he was the heir of the throne and he was entitled to become the future king. But when he found out that God had decided that kingdom is for David, he humbled himself to the degree that he was willing to let the kingdom go. 1 Sam 23:16-17, "Then Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God. And he said to him, "Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that." He was even willing to step aside to honor God. Not only that, he became a spy for David to save him from his father. He spied out his father to find out whether he was really serious about killing David. 1 Sam 19:1 -3, "Now Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David;.. So Jonathan told David, saying, "My father Saul seeks to kill you. Therefore please be on your guard until morning, and stay in a secret place and hide. "And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak with my father about you. Then what I observe, I will tell you." While he was spying for David he found out that his father was really serious about killing David. The Bible says, Saul was very angry and he said in, 1 Sam 20:31, "For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Now therefore, send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die." So Jonathan helped David to escape from that place. It is the quality of a righteous man. Jonathan had a heart to do right and do good.

But Saul continued in sin and in his wickedness. He was not ready to repent or to turn around from his evil ways. Finally the wickedness of Saul paid off. What he wanted to do with David turned out to himself. He wanted to see David dead but instead he died a pathetic death. It was a very horrible and tragic end of a wicked and cruel man. He killed himself. Saul could not stop David from becoming king. Saul could not hold his earthly kingdom with his tricks and politics. Not only did he lose his earthly kingdom but he lost heaven too. What God had decided for David He gave to David. Nothing could stop David from becoming a king. But the greatness of his life was that he waited patiently to get it in God's way. He refused to do wickedness to achieve the kingdom.

If you are a believer and a saved person and if God had promised something to you God would definitely bring it to pass. We need not to play tricks and become crooked to achieve it. Spiritual people don't play tricks but live a holy life. If God had said something, wait patiently, pray about it lead a clean life and let it happen according to God's way. At the right time God Himself will bring it to pass.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
