Every man in this planet earth faces problem in his or her life. Addictions, sins, sorrows, pain, sickness and death are all part of life. But the world was not like this in the beginning. God created Adam and Eve and blessed them and when He looked at His creation He found that it was good and perfect. There was no curse, no pain, no sorrow no toil nothing. Then how those ugly things called pain, sorrow, sin and death came in this world? In Genesis 3rd chapter we read that the first man and woman whom God created did not obey God and so wrath of God came upon them.

Gen 3:14-19, “So the LORD God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you." Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."

I remember that I was often very sick during my childhood. When I was very young, I was afflicted with typhoid. It repeated again and again and when it happened the third time I became very weak. And the doctor said to my parents that, “if it happens 4th time, your child will not live but die.” Beside that almost every two weeks I would be suffering from cold and fever. When I was a teenager I had chronic allergy. My parents took me to the best hospitals in different towns but there was no cure for my ailment. Whenever climate changed a little bit, I suffered greatly. When I started studying in college, one day suddenly my knees got swollen and because of great pain I could not walk. I was again taken to the doctor and he gave me Vitamin B12 injections and pain left me at that time. But it became routine and time and time again swelling and excruciating pain returned often and Vitamin B12 injections also did not work for me. Doctors gave me double dose of painkillers but it did not have any effect on me.

At times I shed bitter tears and when I saw young children playing in front of our home, I thought that probably I would never walk again like those kids. At times I felt as if I was a burden for my family members.

Yes, sickness is painful and horrible. When we go through terrible trials it is painful and it breaks our heart. But there is Good News! Jesus took all our sins, sufferings, sorrows and death on the cross. We do not need to live in pain and sorrow anymore. We do not need to live in tears because Jesus paid the price on the cruel cross. In Bible we read Isa 53:3-6, “He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

When I accepted Jesus in my life, He healed me completely. No pain in my legs, no cold no fever, no chronic allergy but God gave me good health.

Are you shedding bitter tears today because of your sickness or hurt, pain and sorrows in your life? Come to Jesus, give your life to Jesus and He will give you a new life. He will forgive and forget all your sins and heal all your sicknesses.

Joash, Who did not have his Own Opinion

By Sherly Isaac

In 2nd Kings 11th chapter we read about Joash. Joash was one of the sons of king Ahaziah who ruled in Judah. When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal heirs. But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were being murdered; and they hid him and his nurse in the bedroom, from Athaliah, so that he was not killed. So he was hidden with her in the house of the LORD for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land” (2 Ki 11:1-3 ).

Jehosheba and her husband Jehoiada who was priest brought him up in the very house of the LORD. At the age of seven Jehoiada made him king over Judah. This Joash became king and walked in the ways of God as long as Jehoiada was alive. He did repair works in the house of God and showed as if he was walking in the ways of God

This same Joash, who was brought up by the priest Jehoiada in the very house of the LORD, the same Joash who did the right thing till Jehoiada was alive, the same Joash . did the exact opposite of what he was doing till that time under the influence of the group of people whom he came in contact after the death of the priest . We read in 2 Chr 24:17-18, “Now after the death of Jehoiada the leaders of Judah came and bowed down to the king. And the king listened to them. Therefore they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served wooden images and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their trespass.”

But God who really wanted to save every person, warned him by sending His prophets, but it is so tragic that he killed Jehoiada's own son Zechariah who warned him. He had no value in his eyes for the same priest who brought him up and made him king that he even killed his son as we read in 2 Chr 24:19-22, “Yet He sent prophets to them, to bring them back to the LORD; and they testified against them, but they would not listen. Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God: 'Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He also has forsaken you.'" So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the LORD. Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son; and as he died, he said, "The LORD look on it, and repay!"

How this man changed? Because he obeyed the wrong people and did not have his own opinion. So he followed the evil ways of his associates. Today also you can find people who do not have their own opinion but walk according to others suggestion.

That is the reason why Bible says in Gal 5:16-17, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”

If the Spirit of God leads you, you will fulfill the desires of God and not of your own or of your associates. Give your life to Jesus and let your life be controlled by the Holy Spirit so that you could be a blessing to others.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
