What a wonderful time of the year it is! Christmas season! Beautifully decorated streets, shops, homes and churches. Spectacular lightings, sweet carols, tasty food and celebrations… The whole environment fills with great joy. In my childhood days I heard the stories of Santa coming in night and distributing candies and gifts to children. I remember, every year I wondered, 'would Santa really stop by my door too and give gifts and candies to me also?' But to my disappointment, I never saw any Santa coming in my home and giving gifts.

But two thousand years ago God gave perfect gift to mankind in the form of Jesus. This wonderful gift brought hope and eternal life for the dying humanity. That is the reason why multitude of heavenly angels sang praises of God saying, (Luke 2:14), "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

Yes, this beautiful Christmas season reminds us that God is interested in peace on earth and goodwill toward men. It amazes me why people try everything else to achieve peace keeping Jesus aside. They do big seminars or summits and so on but at the end there is more chaos and more confusion than before. The reason is very simple, that is, most of them simply reject the Prince of Peace, Lord Jesus Christ and try to bring peace by their own way.

But Jesus said in Mat 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The root cause of being devoid of peace is sin. Sin brings chaos and takes away peace from our hearts. But Jesus came in this world to take away our sins on the cruel cross. On the cross He shed even His last drop of blood to purchase pardon for our sins and to give us peace. He took all our sins on Himself and died on behalf of us so that we could have eternal life.

In today’s troubling world we need Jesus who can bring perfect peace, not only in our lives but also in this world. When Jesus comes in our lives He changes everything and gives peace that this world cannot give.

If you want this perfect gift of God in your life, come to Jesus in this Christmas season . Give your life to Jesus. He will gladly take your sins away and will give you a new life. He will not disappoint you because He said in Rev 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, I ask you to please come into my life and forgive and forget all my sins. Please wash me with your precious blood. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. I thank you for giving me eternal life. I give you all the glory to you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

His Name will be Called, Everlasting Father

By Sherly Isaac

Isaiah wrote about the coming Messiah and explained about the qualities He would possess. We read in Isa 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

In the above verses Isaiah clearly wrote that God Himself will be descending as Messiah and one of the qualities of the coming Messiah is that of “Everlasting Father”. If we look at the earthly fathers we can see how fathers care for the whole family, provide and do everything needful for the whole family. They work hard tirelessly. But God’s love is manifold greater than any earthly father.

When Jesus was in this world, He worked as a carpenter probably to make ends meet. We read in Mark 6:3 "Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?"…,.

Scholars believe that because there is no mention of Joseph in the later chapters of the Bible, most probably he had died early and the whole responsibility could have come upon Jesus, He being the eldest in the family. From the above verse we can understand how big Jesus’ family was, four brothers, at least two sisters, mother and He Himself. It is not easy to support eight people but Jesus played the role of father working hard as a carpenter to provide for His earthly family.

Even when He was on the cross, He did not forget Mary. From the cross we can see His concern for His mother in those painful and devastating moments (John 19:26-27), “When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son! Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.”

This is the love of God for us even today. Psalmist says about God in Psa 68:5-6, “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”

Psalmist again sings praises of God in Psa 113:4-9, “The LORD is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high, Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in the heavens and in the earth? He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, That He may seat him with princes; With the princes of His people. He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!”

Yes, God loves us very much and that was the reason why He came down in this world and gave His precious life for us. Because of His death on the cruel cross we can get forgiveness of our sins and have eternal life. He wants to become our Father. He wants to take care of our day-today affairs. Bible says in John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

What a privilege it is to have God as our father. What an honor to be born in the family of God! This is the rare opportunity which God wants to give to every person. Let not this wonderful opportunity slip away from you. Today itself invite Him in your life and become a child of God.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
