By Sherly Isaac

Today I am going to write the story of Christmas. Christmas Story? Well, if we really want to know the story of Christmas we need to go way back to the Garden of Eden. In the beginning there was nothing except the heaven and the earth created by God. Still there was great dull moment and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. Likewise God spoke and things were created, world came in to existence. Plants and trees grew. Animals and birds came to existence and rivers and oceans were formed by the mighty power of God. Lastly He made the human beings, Adam and Eve. When God looked at His creation, He saw that it was good and perfect. Then God planted a garden and put Adam and Eve in that garden. He blessed them.

Adam and Eve were very happy in that garden. They had everything to eat and no worries in their lives. Life was just wonderful. But one day devil came and started to sow seeds of unbelief and doubt in their minds towards God. One day he said to Eve, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?, (Gen 3:1)" Eve replied in Gen 3:2-3, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

But soon she fell in his trap and gave up her loyalty toward God. She looked at the fruit which God forbade and commanded her not to eat, saw that it was good and pleasant to the sight, a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband, and he ate. As soon as they ate the fruit of the forbidden tree, they died. Yes they did die spiritually and their relationship with God ended that day. They got separated from God. This was the tragic tale of man going away from God and his punishment was to end up in hell fire.

But God could not see us dying and going to hell fire. About 2000 years ago God came down in this world in the form of a man. Born in the home of Joseph and Mary. Almost thirty three years He walked in this world, showed the way to heaven, healed the sick, raised the dead, met all the needs of the people, wiped away their tears. But He was not of this world. He came from heaven. Before He returned home, He took all our sins on Himself and died on the cross so that we could have hope for the future. By His triumphant victory over death He gave us hope that we can have eternal life.

Yes, my friend, He came in this world to give us hope, hope where there was no hope at all. A few days back there was shooting in a mall in Omaha. The gunman killed eight people and died himself. Later on police discovered a note from him that showed how hopeless he was in his life. At the age of three his parents got divorced, he broke with his girlfriend; he was also fired from his job. But his hopeless situation could have been solved if only he had given his life to Jesus.

Have you lost your hope today? Are you going through tough times in your life? Come to Jesus, He can change your life. He can solve your problems. He can give you peace that this world cannot give. Just ask Him to come into your life. When He will come in, He will take care of your life. Jesus came to give us hope and a better future. This glorious hope and better future is yours by accepting Him!

His Name will be Called, Everlasting Father - Part 2

By Sherly Isaac

Isa 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Last week we discussed the quality of Messiah who was about to come. One of His name was, “Everlasting Father”. We saw how Jesus played the role of a father while in this earth and supported His big earthly family.

In the Old Testament we read about Joseph a young man who was hated by his brothers and was sold to the Ishmaelite merchants. Joseph went through very tough times in his life. First he lost his mother, then his brothers hated him and sent him to slavery, he suffered the pain in leaving his loving father and younger brother behind. In the foreign land his troubles did not come to an end, but soon he was imprisoned for no fault of his. How his heart would have cried. We cannot even imagine the pain and suffering he went through in his life.

But the Bible tells us that He trusted in the living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. No wonder God came for his rescue. Even in the prison God was with Him as we read in Gen 39:23, “The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph's authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper.”

Cutting the long story short, finally a day came when Pharaoh saw a dream and could not find an interpreter for his dream. At that time Pharaoh’s cupbearer told him about Joseph and on king’s order Joseph stood before the king. Joseph’s journey from prison to palace became a reality because God was with Him. It was God who helped him to come out of that low state. Not only that, God helped him to meet his father and brother again. The same brothers who betrayed him stood trembling before him begging for their lives. Joseph had power to destroy them or put them in prison but he played the role of a father and provided for their families for many years. We read in Gen 47:11-12, “And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. Then Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father's household with bread, according to the number in their families.”

When Jacob, his father died, his brothers lost their heart and feared that Joseph would now take revenge and treat them badly. But Joseph forgave them and told them not to worry about their misdeeds. We read in Gen 50:15-21, “When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him. So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, "Before your father died he commanded, saying, Thus you shall say to Joseph: "I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you." ' Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father." And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, "Behold, we are your servants." Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”

Joseph demonstrated the love of God through his life. This is the love of God. God loves us so much that even He gave His precious life for us. Though we did so much bad against Him yet He came to forgive us. He came to give us eternal and blessed life filled with His peace and joy.

This blessed life is for you and for me. If you give your life to Jesus, He will bless you. He will forgive all your sins and will give you a new life.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
