Just in the morning we heard about the news of the assassination of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto the former prime minister of Pakistan. You can find these types of similar violent incidents all over the world. At times it seems that peace is far away from this world. But God promised to send the Messiah who is the Prince of Peace Himself. We read in Isa 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”Isaiah wrote about the messiah who was about to come in this world, and that one of His name would be “Prince of Peace”. In this troubled world how could we achieve this peace? Jesus said in John 14:1, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” Believing in Jesus and making peace with God by repenting of our sins is the first step to be taken in achieving peace. Sometimes I wonder why such hatred and why such anger in the hearts of people towards others that they kill each other? Only one reason is there that sin has separated mankind from God and the corrupted nature of the fallen man rules our lives. Bible says in 1 John 3:15, “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” And to get rid of this corrupted nature there is only one way and that is the blood of Jesus which cleanses us from all sin.Often people try to make peace with others thinking that everything would be peaceful if they were successful. But true peace cannot come in one’s heart unless they make peace with God. To make peace with God one has to realize that he/she is a sinner and without the help of the Savior it is impossible to come out of sin. Second thing is to repent from all sins before Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior.As long as we are separated from God we cannot have peace in our lives. But when Jesus “the Prince of Peace” comes in our lives, peace comes automatically. When you are in peace, your surroundings would be in peace as well.To give this wonderful peace and to remove hatred from our lives, Jesus came in this world. He gave His precious life on the cross and shed His holy blood on the cruel cross so that we could have a sin free life and our lives could be filled with divine peace that passes all understanding. Jesus promised to give perfect peace (John 14:27) , “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”Jesus also said in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."Jesus clearly said that, in this world you have tribulation but in Him we can have peace. If your trust is in Him, you can live in peace no matter what hell is breaking loose around you.Wishing you all A very happy and blessed New Year 2008!
King of Glory!
John describes the birth of Jesus in John 1:14 and says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” “O come, all ye faithful” song which is translated in Hindi says: “Come and behold Him, Born the King of Glory!”This King of Glory was born in a manger in a stable. Now manger is not a very good place to be born. If you have ever walked in a stable you can smell the foul odor of dung etc. Often we see beautiful images of Jesus lying in a manger and Joseph and Mary in the background in children’s storybooks and videos that depict very beautiful Jesus in a manger and adorable animals. But reality is very far from it. Jesus who is the King of kings and Lord of lords, who is the alpha and omega, who has all the wealth of this world, has humbled Himself to be born in a very poor condition. He was born in a place of unpleasant smell and odors. Probably Mary and Joseph had to cover their noses often to stay there. In that environment Jesus was born. But when Jesus was born, you can see that the same unpleasant place became a place of Praise and a beautiful place where the wise men came to see the King of Glory. This is the same place over where the bright star stood still and dispelled darkness of that place. This is the same place that was turned to be a place of worship where shepherds came and worshipped the King of kings and Lord of lords. Today also when Jesus comes and takes birth in one’s heart, no matter how stinking the life could be, it turns to a beautiful life. The bright light starts to shine from that life. Darkness starts to depart from that life. That life does not stay as a unpleasant life anymore but a life full of praise and joy.This is what the King of Glory does when He comes and takes birth in our hearts. Psalmist says in Psa 24:7-10, “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.”Oh what a wonderful day and what a wonderful moment when a person lifts up the doors of his/her heart and the King of Glory comes in. When the Almighty God enters in your life, He changes everything. He takes away every unpleasant and stinking smell of your sins and turns your life to a sweet smelling aroma. In 2 Cor 5:17 we read, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”It does not matter whether you are born in a Christian family or in a house of a pimp, if you have not opened the doors of your heart; you are missing the most wonderful and glorious thing in your life. Jesus said in Rev 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Would you today take the invitation of the King of Glory and allow Him to come into your life?

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 12th Aug. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 12th Aug. 2008
Printed Version of the Magazine
