Sadhu Sundar Singh was born in a staunch Sikh family. When he was fourteen years old he lost his older brother and mother. He blamed the Christian God for the death of his mother. He threw filth on his Christian teachers, mocked their Scriptures, and interrupted the classes. Then he made an ultimate gesture of scorn. He built a fire and page by page he tore up a Bible and burned it. "Although I believed that I had done a very good deed by burning the Bible, I felt unhappy," he said.

Within three days Sundar Singh could bear his misery no longer. Late at night, he rose and prayed to God to reveal himself if he really existed. Otherwise he said that he would throw himself in front of the train that passed by his house. For seven hours Sundar Singh prayed. "O God, if there is a God, reveal thyself to me tonight." The next train was due at five o'clock in the morning. Hours passed.

Suddenly the room filled with a glow. A man appeared before him. Sundar heard a voice say, "How long will you deny me? I died for you; I have given my life for you." He saw the man's hands, pierced by nails. In those moments he recognized Jesus and gave his life to Him. His hatred for Christians disappeared and he himself became an Evangelist for Christ.

Sadhu Sundar Singh suffered greatly for the sake of Jesus Christ. His family disowned him and he was given poison. No one thought that he could live and see another day, but God healed him. He was often beaten, poisoned, put in prison and dungeons for the name of Jesus Christ. Very often God miraculously delivered him from the hands of his enemies. He often walked over snow and because of this his legs bled profusely and so he came to be known by the name, 'apostle with bleeding feet'.

He visited different parts of the world to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Once he went to South India. He got excited to see big crowds and many churches there. But his heart ached to see that many of them were just nominal Christians who were not interested in preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. He said that it is like swollen feet of India, not capable of walking by its own.

Even today we see people who are just not interested to know God and walk in His ways. They even discourage those who sincerely work for Christ. About 2000 years ago one of the disciples of Jesus named Thomas visited India and yet the Gospel has not reached everywhere in India. Many do not even know who Jesus Christ is. People are dying everyday and going to hell. What is our role to prevent this happening?

My friend, if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, it is your responsibility to preach the Gospel to every nation. Jesus said in Mat 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Think about those millions and millions of souls who are heading toward utter destruction minute by minute. Once a person is dead, there is no return for him/her. As we read in Heb 9:27, “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,” But Jesus came in this world to save lost souls.

Will you join the team of Jesus and proclaim the good news to the dying and perishing world?

Are You a Christian? – Checklist for you-2

By Sherly Isaac

Last week we saw that a Christian is a person who accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. We also saw how Paul had an encounter with God and how his life turned around. He was transformed completely.

But Paul’s case was not the only one in the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation we read about men and women who when they came to know God their lives changed forever.

Moses was born in a Hebrew family in Egypt. At that time the Israelites were in deep trouble because the king of Egypt ordered to kill the newborn male child of the Israelites. Moses’ parents hid him for three months. But when they could no longer hide him, his mother took an ark of bulrushes daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank” (Exo 2:2-3 ). And when the king’s daughter came to take bath, she saw the beautiful child, took him and brought him up as her own son.

When this child grew, he was aware of his origin because his mother nursed him in the king’s palace. He saw the hardship of his people. We read in Exo 2:11-15, “Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren. So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, "Why are you striking your companion?” Then he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" So Moses feared and said, "Surely this thing is known!" When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.”

You can see that Moses was a person full of hatred for others who did not belong to his own nation, a person who was responsible for killing another man. Being brought up by his Hebrew mother he would have heard the story of Cain who killed his own brother Abel and would have been aware that to Murder is sin.

But an encounter with God changed his whole life. Once he was tending sheep in the mountains and He had an encounter with God as we read in Exo 3:2-4, “And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am."

Moses’s life changed forever when He met God. The same thing happened to Paul when he met God. The same thing happens even today when a person meets God. God says in Jer 31:34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

When a person repents from his/her sins and turns to God, He forgives and forgets all his/her sins. He gives a new life. More than that, He gives the right to become His children as we read in John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name"

Have you become a child of God, repenting from your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If your answer is, NO then definitely you are not a Christian. Turn to Him and become a child of God today.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
