Recently I was watching the morning news about the phenomena of how our mood could change according to the food we take. The choice of food would either boost or make you sad and depressed. Frances Largeman-Roth, senior food and nutrition editor of Health magazine shared on this in Good Morning America

Here are some quotes:

“Need an AM boost? Instead of that second cup of coffee, try an ounce of walnuts on top of yogurt with some berries mixed in. Largeman-Roth explained that walnuts have omega three fatty acids and contain biotin (a.k.a. vitamin H), which "helps you use the energy you get from other foods, helps you metabolize them."

Feeling blue? Try reaching for something green…. And it would make you happy.

Having trouble sleeping? Though we all know turkey can help make you drowsy, hummus spread with some pita bread might just be a better option. "It's the combination of the carbohydrates in bread and the tryptophan in the chick peas...because the carbohydrates increase the serotonin in your brain and helps you drift off to sleep."

Isn’t it amazing? Your choice of food would make you happy or sad. Psalmist says in Psa 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” David who tasted and saw how the LORD God Almighty was good to him in his troubles, trials as well as in his triumphs, urged to taste and see for ourselves.

On the cruel cross Jesus drank bitter gal to take away bitterness from our lives. He went through the most painful death, giving His precious life for us so that we could have peace, joy and eternal life. Our pain, sorrow, tears, sicknesses and death were taken by Jesus on the cruel cross so that we need not to suffer anymore. On the cruel cross He paid the price in full for the redemption of our souls and to turn our bitterness into sweetness.

He promised to give us a blessed and happy life. You need just to go before Him and ask for this wonderful life which He is willing to give us. When you do that, He will spare you from eternal death, relieve you from pain, sorrow and tears and will fill you with His great peace that passes all understanding along with great joy.

What does Resurrection mean to us?

By Sherly Isaac

Last week we celebrated Easter or resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus who died on the cross rose from death on the third day. You may say, Oh well, what have we to do with someone who died and rose from death 2000 years ago? But Jesus' death and resurrection has great meaning for our lives. His death and resurrection gave humanity hope for the future. Those who were sitting in the dark could see the bright light.

No matter how grim and how sad it looked at the time of His death on the cross, three days later, that sad and grim environment turned into a joyous one because of His resurrection from the dead. It was triumph over death and the fear of death.

Once I read that, “Death could make even the mighty tremble.” Yes, death is terrible but Jesus won the greatest victory when He rose from the grave. His resurrection gave hope to humanity that whoever lives and believes in Jesus shall never die. We read in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."

Not only did He remove death away, but He also took away the fear of death. I remember when I was very young, probably five or six years old. we lived very near to a Hindu cremation ground. Often dead bodies were being carried along the road in front of our home. Well, It is different in India, often they carry dead bodies on the shoulder. They do not use a box but a stretcher for carrying the dead body. In many cases you could see their face being exposed. In my childhood curiosity once I asked my mom, “what is the difference between a person sleeping and dead?” She replied, “If a person is dead the breath will stop and he/she will no longer breathe.”

I remember that my mom used to sleep in the afternoons while I would play. When I feel that my mom had slept little longer from usual, often fear would grip my soul and I would go near her bed and put my hand in front of her nose to see whether she was still breathing.

At times I was frightened when a family member did not return home on their scheduled time. All kinds of thoughts made me desperate and filled my heart with great fear. But when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, all fear is gone. God filled my heart with great peace.

This is what Jesus does for us by His resurrection. Look how David could sing this beautiful song saying in Psa 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Even today also He wants to fill our hearts with great peace. If you come to Him and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, He will bring you out of eternal death and will take away the fear of death from your life.

If you want to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior please pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I am afraid of death but you have conquered death. And you can give me a new life full of peace, joy and happiness. Please forgive and forget all my sins and give me a new life. Today I invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and make me whole. Thank you for listening to my prayer and for giving me eternal life. I give you all the glory. I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
