By Sherly Isaac

Sixty years ago on 15th Aug. 1947 India became a free nation. How precious is the freedom, where you can live without having any kind of fear but safe and carefree. This precious freedom was bought by the shed blood of many young men and women who willingly gave their lives for the nation. Yes, the price of freedom is not cheap but it is the most precious thing in our lives. It is the most treasured possession of our lives. Living in a free nation is really a privilege. Likewise living in freedom is also a great privilege.

Often we do not realize that we live under heavy burdens of sin and various bondages in our lives. Jesus said in Mat 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus promised to take those bondages, sins and those heavy burdens on Himself that make us weary at times and in return He will give us rest. For this very purpose He came in this world to take away our sins, sicknesses and sufferings. He gave His precious life for our freedom. He shed His priceless blood on the cruel cross so that we could live a life of freedom.

Today freedom for our soul is available for us because Jesus paid the price on the cruel cross. He had already done the work of our salvation and we need not to do anything except to go before Him and ask for the forgiveness of our sins and invite Him in our lives. When He will come in, He will change everything. He will forgive and forget all sins and give us the peace and joy that this world cannot give. Bible says in John 1:12-13, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Also we read in John 8:36, "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Jesus wants to make us free. He wants to take our heavy loads and wants to give us rest. My friend, you can have this wonderful freedom by just unloading your heavy loads of sins, worries, sicknesses and problems at the feet of Jesus. He is the God who bears our burdens as we read in Psalm 68:19 says, "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens."

What a privilege to have this type of wonderful God who bears our burdens and takes care of us. Blessed are those who have unloaded their heavy burdens on Almighty God. Are you one of them? If not, come to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Please pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins. Wash me with your precious blood. Today I give all my burdens to you. Please take it and instead give me rest and peace that this world cannot give. Thank you Jesus for listening to my prayers. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.

Happy Independence Day of India! Here is a very special greeting card is waiting for you. For details please scroll down.

Moral teachings of the Bible

By Sheela Isaac

How many times do we hear people saying, "because no one is perfect a little sin is ok. Or all the people commit mistakes so just ignore it." I think that those who do not know what the Bible says, make lame excuses to hush matters up. If you read the Bible carefully you will be surprised to know that Bible speaks with much emphasis about the need for forgiveness of sin and holiness than what we think. When you read the Old and New Testaments you can find that the theme and teachings point to the same truth, though it was written by different writers at different times. Through out the Bible the same theme has been expounded encircling around the topic of the fall of the human race and of their rescue. The Old Testament even gives many examples of people and prophets who had sinned and failed in their spiritual walk. Why? To serve as warnings from those examples of failure so that we can avoid those missteps and correct our lives and walk in the ways of God. Those examples were not added there for fun but with a particular purpose. It indicates clearly how human life is vulnerable and fragile and it also indicates that anybody can fall in sin if they are not diligently following God's laws and commandments.

Bible clearly tells that those who talks the talk but do not walk the walk will not be able to enter heaven. Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Luke 6:46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? If you call yourself saved or you are really saved but do not live a holy life then it is possible that you could lose heaven. On that day you can't say to Jesus; "you know that human beings are weak and so perfection and holiness is not possible." If holiness is not possible then why did Jesus say, "Be holy for I am holy.” Not only that, He says further, "I am who called you is holy so be holy in ALL your conduct. 1 Pet 1:15, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,” 1 Pet 1:16, “because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’."

Let's see some commandments about holiness from the Bible.
Bible has enormous wealth of knowledge. If you read carefully you will find out what is right in the sight of God, what is sin and how to correct your life. Why is sin abounding everywhere? The reason behind it is that we do not know what the word of God says and unfortunately there are very few who teach how to live a clean and holy life. We hear hundreds of sermon about serving the poor and loving each other (though they themselves never follow it). But how many are there who preach about holiness? How many teach about what God demands in our lives, the level of holiness He expects in us and how to grow in that holiness? Bible has hundreds of things to say but I am quoting here a few things.

Adultery or fornication is sin.
Proverbs 9:13-18 says, Adultery or fornication is sin. Bible clearly says that those who practice such things will definitely end up in hell fire. Prov 9:18, "But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of hell." The Bible clearly says that any kind of sexual relationship outside marriage is sin. I recently heard a survey report, which said, 60% of the children born in US are born out of wedlock. It is really an alarming issue. I do not know how many read the word of God and know what God had commanded.

Making haste to be rich is sin:
Prov 28:22, "A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, And does not consider that poverty will come upon him."

Bible says that running after money is sin. why? because if a person is greedy after money then he/she will amass money by illegal means. Money yearned by hard work and integrity is not sin in the sight of God but by any other means if you are making money it is sin. 1 Tim 6:9-10, "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Stealing is sin:
Eph 4:28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

Uncontrolled anger is sin:
Proverbs 14:17, He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Eph 4:26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Foul -corrupt language is sin:
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Telling lie is sin:
Eph 4:25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,"

What else?
God hates six things and seven is abomination in His sight.
Prov 6:16 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
Prov 6:17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,
Prov 6:18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,
Prov 6:19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

How many times we read these commandments and how many times we fail to correct ourselves? If you have never read the book of Proverbs I would say you must read it. It has such a fascinating knowledge in it that you might wonder reading how God had commanded everything beforehand in His word to follow and obey.

Couple of months back I was reading the book about hell and the eyewitness accounts of the people. It really startled me and it was quite an eye opener. I was very much surprised reading that minute and insignificant things kept people out of heaven. The people who once served the Lord but had backslidden and gone away after worldly things also lost heaven. The more surprising thing is that everything is already written in the word of God, the Bible. But how many times we take it lightly and think that God is a gracious Lord and so He would just ignore sin. God is indeed gracious but it does not mean that we keep on sinning and thinking that one day our loving God will forget everything and take us in heaven. Bible clearly says that God will not hold the guilty as guiltless by any way. God of the Bible is a just God and He is zero tolerant toward sin.

Finally Jesus is returning for the bride who is blameless, holy and without wrinkle. Eph 5:27, "that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish." The question is when He returns for His people will He find us holy and blameless? Let's walk in holiness and follow all His commandments so that we may not be found short in holiness on the day when Christ would appear.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
