Bible tells us that there is a God who delights in protecting His people and that the enemy trying to confront you could not harm you.

In the life of Moses we read that so many times his life was in danger but every time God miraculously protected him. Even from the moment of his birth his life was threatened. At the time of his birth, the king of Egypt (Pharaoh) ordered to kill every newborn Israelite child. But her mother hid him for three months from being killed. When she could no longer hide him, she made a basket, put him in that basket and float him in river Nile. How the heart of his mother would have cried in anguish. Probably she might have thought, "This is the last time I am holding my baby in my arms." Will she be able to see him again? She had no clue. But God's ways are marvelous. God not only protected Moses but also put him in the hands of king's daughter. Naturally speaking, this child was destined to die but God turned the table around. Moses was reared and brought up by the same enemy who was seeking his life.

When he grew up, he killed one Egyptian and when he came to know that others knew about it, he ran for his life. Later God called and commanded him to go to Egypt and deliver His people. But Moses was scared to go to Egypt and stand before Pharaoh. The reason why he was afraid is obvious. He had to run for his life from the same place called Egypt where he was well known to the people as he was brought up in the royal palace by Pharaoh's daughter who took him as her son. Facing the same people was not easy, but God assured him that all who sought his life were dead as we read in Exo 4:19, "And the LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go, return to Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead."

So Moses returned to Egypt and proclaimed the plan of God to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh (king of Egypt) bluntly refused to let the Israelites go out of Egypt. At times pharaoh got very angry over Moses. He increased hardship for the Israelites, but he could not touch Moses. Pharaoh, being the sole authority of Egypt, had power to kill and destroy the life of Moses. But he could not. Even knowing very well that Moses was behind the terrible calamities, the terrible tragedies, which overtook Egypt, making Pharaoh's heart sour, even losing his only son, he could not touch Moses. The reason is very simple - because God was Moses' protection. God never allowed him to die or to see defeat in the hands of his enemy.

My friend, the God of the Bible is mighty, who wants to protect us, who wants to exalt us before our enemies. His promise is to protect us. He will not allow you to die before your time.

Once my dad was working in a place called Bhind Morena in India. This place was very dangerous and was well known as dacoit area. Nobody dared to go out after evening hours and nobody opened doors if somebody knocked at the door after daylight is gone. For money they would kidnap people and demand ransom. Once my dad was returning from his trip to home and his train was late so that he reached the place after midnight. He took an auto (small three wheeler vehicle - a kind of taxi) to go home. As he was traveling and on the way one man waved his hands to stop the vehicle. The driver stopped the vehicle. The man stood there staring straight at the face of my dad. My dad could see his facial expression changing as if to come at a decision what action to take. After several moments he told the driver, "Ok you can go." On the way the driver said to my dad, "You are lucky, the man was a dacoit."

It was God's protection that dad could escape from that dacoit.

Psalmist writes in Psalm 91 how God protects those who trust in Him. Today also His protection is available for us. David says in Psa 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."

Prayer Answering God

By Sherly Isaac

Psa 99:6-8, "Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was among those who called upon His name; They called upon the LORD, and He answered them. He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar; They kept His testimonies and the ordinance He gave them. You answered them, O LORD our God; You were to them God-Who-Forgives, Though You took vengeance on their deeds."

Bible records hundreds of incidents of God answering prayers, hearing the cry of His people He came for their rescue. Moses, Aaron and Samuel are only three names in the above verse, but there are hundreds whether their names are written in the Bible or not, whom when they called upon the name of Jesus, He came for their rescue. God not only answered their prayers, not only rescued them but also spoke to them. They had direct access to speak with God.

What was the reason, why they could communicate with God though being ordinary people? Because they knew God personally. Moses was a man who killed a man and ran for his life. In other words Moses was a murderer but one encounter with God changed his whole life. He was transformed to become the humblest person on the planet earth. And God spoke to Him face to face. Bible says in Num 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.) And in Num 12:6-8, Then He said, "Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?"

There is a God who wants to talk with us, who wants to answer our prayers, who wants to walk with us. He said in Rev 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

Today if you open the doors of your heart, He will come in and change your life forever. He will have fellowship with you. When God created Adam and Eve He went and talked to them everyday. But that relationship was broken because sin came between God and us. If we confess our sins and turn to God, He will restore that relationship with us again.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
