Often worries of this world trouble our lives. People spend so much time thinking about the future that it robes their peace and fills them with depression and hopelessness. A few years ago there was a preacher named E.V, Hill in America who had a very big church. He once said, “Apostle Paul commanded us to rejoice in the Lord always. But how could you rejoice when every morning people call you and say, ‘my wife is dying…. my children do not have anything to eat..’ automatically depression will set in.” But he further said that by giving our worries and cares to the Lord we can come out of depression and we can smile again.Peter wrote in 1 Pet 5:7, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” Bring all your worries and cares at the feet of Jesus, He will take care of it. Apostle Paul also says in Phil 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”God has also promised His peace in Isa 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”Most of the time we worry in vain thinking about things that may never happen but we hurt ourselves emotionally thereby pushing toward depression. But bringing our problems, worries, hurts, pain and even sins at the feet of Jesus will help us to lead a peaceful life.Once a father loved her little daughter. On her birthday he gave her a beautiful doll as a present. Days passed by and one day as she was playing with her doll, she broke it. She cried and cried. Finally she went to her father and said, “Father, can you please fix this for me?” His father looked at her troubled face and assured her to fix the doll. Later he fixed the doll and gave it to her. Her joy knew no bounds. The same thing happens when we go before our heavenly father and ask Him to fix our lives. He fixes our lives and fills us with great joy and peace. If you are worried, broken, depressed and hurting in your lives, come to Jesus. He will fix your life and He will fill you with great peace. Because He is a burden bearing God as psalmist says in Psa 55:22, “Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Bible talks about two types of people in the Bible. Righteous and Wicked, Blessed and Cursed, Godly and Ungodly. Psalms first chapter talks about both these types of people and also gives us guidelines, how a person can become a blessed, godly and righteous person.Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.Psa 1:3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.These three verses tell us about a blessed person, who a blessed person is, what he does and how he lives. In the first verse we see three things that a righteous person avoids to do, which are, walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the paths of sinners and sitting with the scornful. All these three acts lead to death and destruction and those who choose to walk away from these things are the blessed ones. He delights in the law of the LORD and meditates in His word day and night. What happens when he meditates on His word day and night and walks according to the word of God? The answer is given in the third verse which says, “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”You can say that the Word of God is the source of life giving water that will make ones life to thrive and flourish. Once my dad got transferred to a new place. When we arrived in that place we learned that a big house with a big yard was allotted for us. As we moved in that house we went around and looked at the garden. There were many lemon trees among other trees. We were happy to see those trees. Soon those trees started flowering and we waited to see a big harvest of lemon. We rejoiced when we saw it blooming and small fruits started coming in those plants. But to our surprise either those small fruits dried off on the tree or fell before it fully ripened. It broke our hearts. But my dad started taking care of it and gave much water and fertilized it. And from the next year we started to get good amount of fruits. We realized that because of lack of water, it withered away before reaching to full growth. Psalmist compares the life of a righteous or a blessed person with a tree planted by rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season and its leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. That is the life God wants to give to every person who walks in His ways and delights in His words. Your life will not wither away in half the time and there would sure be fruits, if you walk in the ways of God.But the next three verses talk about the life of ungodly persons. Psa 1:4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.Psa 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.Psa 1:6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.Oh! See the terrible end of a wicked person or a person who does not walk in the ways of God. His life has no value in the eyes of God but he is like chaff. When wind blows, the chaff is driven away. My friend, there is a blessed life waiting for us. There is a life full of blessings waiting for us if we delight in His word and walk according to His word.God told the same thing to Joshua in Josh 1:7-8 "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”And all the days of his life he saw prosperity, success and blessings. Wherever he went he defeated his enemies. Wherever he went he won battles. Wherever he went he saw success. The reason was simple; he gave first place to the word of God and acted on His word. If we do it, we will also see the same result.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
