1Cor 12:28, "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

Today we are going to concentrate in the ministry of miracles. Miracles were and are the most integral part of Bible. The whole Bible talks about the mighty works of God which were manifested among the children of God. Bible talks about a God who does mighty miracles and wonders as we read in Job 5:8-9, "But as for me, I would seek God, And to God I would commit my cause, Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number."

This is the same God who did mighty miracles in the lives of the Israelites and brought them out of Egypt. He is the same God who did mighty wonders when the Israelites were in wilderness. He is the same God who came rushing to help Moses when he stood in front of the red sea not knowing what to do when the Egyptian army was following them. He is the same God who helped people from time to time, again and again, when they cried out to Him and did mighty, awesome and impossible works which were naturally impossible. When David was in trouble, he cried out to God and every time he found help from God. That is the reason why David says in Psa 46:1-2, God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea..."

God says in Psa 50:15, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." Once the angel of the Lord came to Gideon and said, "God is with you." And in Jdg 6:13, Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, 'Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites."

A few days back I was watching one of the tapes of Bro. P. G. Vargis's messages. He said that one day he got a call from a family that they wanted to visit him. Bro. Vargis told his wife Lily and she said, "we do not have even a cup of milk to make tea for them. Please ask them to come tomorrow." Bro. P.G. Vargis tried to postpone their visit to the next day, but they said, "we are leaving this city today night itself so we will just visit you for a short time and leave. He also told that they have already started and will be reaching shortly.

P.G. Vargis asked his wife to look for some money to purchase some snacks and tea for the guests. She went inside the kitchen and found Rs.1.50 kept there which she took. Seeing that their eldest daughter got very much upset and said, "This is for our bus fair to go to school tomorrow morning. Please do not take that money." Sis. Lily then said, "God will perform a miracle, don't worry about it." But her daughter said, "Now it is already 10 O'clock at night. If miracle has to happen the mailman has to come and he will not come in the early morning before 6 O'clock." But sis. Lily danced and said, "If Jesus is with us, there would be a miracle in front of us, there would be a miracle behind us, there would be a miracle in our right hand side, there would be a miracle in our left hand side." And she took that money and gave it to her son to purchase snacks for the guests.

Within a few minutes their guests arrived. They were a couple, husband and wife. They came to share the mighty miracle which took place in the life of his wife in one of the meetings of Bro. P. G. Vargis. They were happy that God healed her from deadly cancer and gave her a new life. When they were leaving Brother and Sister Lily accompanied them up to the bus stop. Just before they entered into the bus, the person gave a hand shake to Bro. Vargis and slipped an envelop into his hand. The lady also did the same thing to sis. Lily. While returning home sis. Lily said, "She gave me ten Rupees in my hand." But when she opened the envelop it was Rs.100. She started to Cry and Bro. said, I got an envelop too and when he opened the envelop to their surprise, it was another Rs.100 bill. It was a miracle beyond their imagination.

Yes, if Jesus is with us, if God of the Bible is with us, mighty miracles will take place. It happened in the past and it will happen today and tomorrow also. As long as God is on His throne miracles will happen. There is no lack in His kingdom, He can do exceedingly, abundantly and can perform unimaginable miracles if you just call upon His name. His name is Jesus!

Word of God - The Tool for Correction

By Sheela Isaac

Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly....Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

The Bible talks about the person as blessed who walks in the ways of God and delights in the law of God and meditates it night and day. It means how much more we need to read the word of God, meditate upon it and try to figure out what the word says about our life. There are hundreds of verses in the Bible which says how to live a clean and holy life, what things we need to do and what not to. I love reading proverb and every time I read, it thrills me as the verses have wealth of knowledge, which tells us things which are unholy and sinful and how to find wisdom (Jesus) in our lives. The Bible talks about Jesus as 'Wisdom'. A person who finds wisdom (Jesus) finds life. Prov 3:13, "Happy is the man who finds wisdom,..."

Let's see what the Bible teaches about different things. How our life and conduct should be according to the Bible?

1. Do not devise evil against anybody:Prov 3:29-30, "Do not devise evil against your neighbor, For he dwells by you for safety's sake. Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm."

The Bible says, 'don't harm anybody without any reason.' Don't devise evil against anybody because it is not good in God's sight. I recall one incident that somebody parked their car in front of our driveway and there was only a narrow space to take our car out. It was Easter Sunday and we were getting out to go to church. My brother blew horn so that the person who parked the car could come and move it out but even after 5-10 minutes no one showed up. Our neighbor lady said, "honk few more times then if nobody moves the car call police since it's illegal to park a car in front of somebody's driveway." She was absolutely right but sudden anger is no solution for every problem. We didn't want to put somebody in trouble that also on Easter Sunday. So my brother blew few more horns then decided to try to take out our car through the narrow space left in front of the gate and somehow he managed it. Well, many times we can avoid conflict by applying patience in our lives. I have seen during travel on roads that if a person blows horn some hot-tempered people get very upset and they jump out from their vehicle in the middle of the traffic and shout and yell at each other and make a big noise. Bible says, "Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm." We need patience in our lives. It is one of the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit that we avoid strife and conflict with others.

2. Do not be self-righteous:Prov 3:7, "Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil."
Prov 28:26, "He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered."

Getting saved is pretty easy, but it is sad that majority of people do not receive forgiveness of their sin in their lives. The reason is that most of the time we think ourselves great and ignore the warning signs in our lives. Most of the time when I talk to people in message boards I figured out that they do not know what is in the Bible. They never read the Bible themselves. Instead they believe in wrong doctrines and teachings which they have heard somewhere. They never try to check it and compare it with the Bible verses to see if what they have heard is correct or not. Recently I was talking to a few people and they had the idea that, "poverty is a blessing from God and believers must not have enormous wealth if they want to go to heaven." The funny thing is the people who are talking against prosperity they themselves are rich. I asked them to give a single verse from the Bible, which could prove their point, but they could not find one. They always quoted somebody's teachings saying that it is from a very honorable preachers and so that must be correct. How many times we are mislead by such teachings which does not allow us to come to Christ and receive forgiveness of our sins.

Bible says, "do not be wise in your own eyes but fear the Lord and depart from evil." If we really fear God we'll try to clean up our lives and try to live a holy life. If you look at the story of the Pharisee and the tax collector we find the same problem. The Pharisee thought that he was far better than others. He was very proud about practicing his rituals and traditions promptly. That was why he could not see the SIN in his own life. He was never ready to think himself as a sinner. He was so self-righteous that he was not ready to repent from his sins and turn to God. If you read the following verses you will find the thinking of the Pharisee and the tax collector.

Luke 18:10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
Luke 18:11 "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
Luke 18:12 'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'
Luke 18:13 "And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'
Luke 18:14 "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

The tax collector had a heart of repentance that's why he was justified and become righteous. The same thing we need in our lives to get a place in heaven. We need a humble heart acknowledging that we are sinners and we need forgiveness of sin. The Bible says that whoever humbles himself and asks for forgiveness of sin will receive it but whoever thinks that they are so great that they don't need God's forgiveness will never get it and their lives never change. The life of many who are born in a Christian home never changes because they never ask for forgiveness of their sins. They are so close to the fountain of eternal life but they never get it in their lives. The reason is that their self-righteousness and the wrong doctrines which they followed, never allowed them to find the truth and achieve a place in heaven. How pathetic it is?

Prov 28:13, "He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy."

3. If you have ability to help others never say no:
Prov 3:27, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so."

Bible talks about helping others. We need to help others. Let it not be limited up to our friends but we need to help everybody who is really in need.

Mat 5:44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
Mat 5:45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 5:46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
Mat 5:47 "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
Mat 5:48 "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

We need to check our lives in the light of the Bible and need to make corrections on a regular basis. For that we need to read the word of God regularly. Word of God has power and ability to correct us and cleanse our lives.
