By Sherly Isaac

Sometimes people think that no matter what they do, others would never know about their sinful deeds. They cheat others thinking that it would never be revealed. Recently the renowned golfer Tiger Woods who lived a life of infidelity kept all his colleagues, friends, sponsors, fans and even his wife in the dark and when his secrets were revealed, it stripped him off of his name, fame, glory and he came to the stage that now he is at the brink of divorce. This is what sin does to a person.

Jesus said in Mat 10:26, "there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known." What you would do in secret will one day come to light.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve sinned against God and when they came to know that they were naked, they were so ashamed that they hid themselves from God. Not only were they ashamed, they lost everything they had in their lives. They were kicked out of the Garden of Eden from the presence of God. You can see that their sin brought them to this shameful situation and there was no turning back. Not only that, but they were condemned eternally and deserved punishment of hell because of their sins.

Even today our sins can destroy our lives and condemn us eternally. But Jesus came in this world, taking the form of a man to die on our behalf for our sins so that our sins could be forgiven. He came to redeem us from our sins and from the punishment of hell fire. Because of His shed blood a man or a woman can regain the lost glory of mankind and get redemption from shame, guilt, sins, eternal condemnation and punishment.

Today we can have eternal life because Jesus paid the price of our redemption in full. He loved us so much that He came down in this world to save us.

When we celebrate Christmas this year, let us remember the great love of God which He showed for us on the cruel cross. Let Him be born in your hearts in this Christmas season which will bring great joy and peace that comes from Him alone.

on 12th Jan. 2010 we are going to fast and Pray for financial breakthrough in your lives. If you are about to lose your home in foreclosure, if you are unable to make monthly payments or if you are looking for job, if you have financial crisis, please send your prayer request before 12th Jan. and expect a miracle that Lord Jesus would turn your situations around.

Christmas

By Sheela Isaac

Isaiah 9:6 -7, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

Bible proclaims about the birth of Jesus and describes what the qualities of Jesus would be. Bible says that His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Yes, Jesus is that gift which God gave us. Jesus came down into this world to bring us redemption and salvation. God gave His only begotten son Jesus as a gift for the whole world. You and I can have this gift by simply receiving it. But it is most tragic and pathetic that most of the people including Christians who had heard the Gospel hundreds of times and who even claim to be Christians, do not know how to receive this gift. It is like you are sitting in a home with all the electric connections leading to bulbs and fans. Everything is there but if you do not do anything, if you fail to operate, the light will not turn on nor will the fan. Everything is given for you, but if you do nothing you will sit there in the dark and nothing would happen. The same thing is here, God sent His son Jesus to redeem you and me but if we do not know how to receive this gift, it will not work. You and I will live in this world till our appointed time and die but this gift will still be there, wrapped up untouched and then what would happen? Each and every person who would miss this gift will end up in hell fire to be burned till eternity. Will it not be terrible? How foolish and silly it would be that when the house was provided for you with all the lights and fans, but you don't know how to turn it on to have light and to avoid the heat. Yes many are still sitting in the dark not knowing how to unwrap the gift God had sent and how to find the way to heaven.

Today I would like to describe it in an elaborate way how to unwrap this precious gift and how to find your way out from sin and wickedness. The Bible describes very clearly the steps we need to take to receive forgiveness of our sin from Jesus. When Jesus was on the cross, there were two robbers who were also crucified along with Him, one on His left and the another on His right. If you hear the conversation of both of them, you will realize how different their views were. One thief was blaspheming Jesus and ridiculing Him saying, "if you are Christ save yourself and us." One thing is very clear that it looks that he knew very well who Christ was. He knew that Jesus had the ability to save him from eternal damnation, but he was not ready to accept it. Instead he refused to accept it. He was mocking Jesus instead of receiving the gift of salvation through Jesus. Don't we see many today who are doing the same thing?

Luke 23:39-41, "Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong."

1. He acknowledge his sin:
Look at the other thief. He admitted that he is a sinner. He said, "we have done wrong and we are receiving the just reward of our deeds." For forgiveness of sin, this is the first step. Bible says, in Proverbs 28:13, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” Jeremiah 3:13, “Only acknowledge your iniquity, That you have transgressed against the LORD your God,”

This knowledge that you and I are sinners by birth and that we can't get rid of our sins by our own effort, gives us the ability to take the first step towards salvation. First we need to admit our sin and then we need to confess our sin before Jesus to get rid of it.

2. Confession of sin is the second step toward salvation:
The thief on the cross knew it, You and I also need to understand this greatest truth. The thief said to the other thief, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds.” He confessed in the presence of Jesus that he is a sinner.

To whom you have to confess? Not before men, nor before your priest, parents or spouse but you need to confess it before Jesus. Because you and I can receive forgiveness of sin only through Jesus. Why Jesus only? Because He is the one who conquered sin and death on the cross. No one else had ever done it. Jesus is sinless and holy and He conquered sin. That's why only He is able to give us victory over sin. Acts 4:12, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

3. Repentance is the third step toward salvation:
Acts 3:19, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” The thief said in Luke 23:42-43, "Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." What the thief said to Jesus was in other words, “please give me a place in heaven.”

We need to repent from our sin and turn from all unrighteousness. Salvation is not that you repent every time and then start doing the same sin over and over again. No. If you are truly saved, you'll see a great change in your life. Salvation is an instantaneous experience when you confess your sin to Jesus and turn around. But holiness is a process which will follow if you are truly saved. You'll cry out before Jesus for a holy life and you'll achieve holiness. Ezekiel 18:20 -22, "The soul who sins shall die.... "But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. "None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live."

4. Holiness is the fourth step toward salvation:
The above verse clears it very well that, "if you keep all my (God's) statutes and do what is lawful and right then you'll surely live. This is the condition and obligation for a believer but it is not an option. Many think that holiness is not possible and so a little bit of sin is ok. But Bible doesn't approve this statement. If you read the Bible you'll find it very clearly that God is not delighted in sin and He is ZERO tolerant toward sin. You can't continue in sin and still go to heaven. It's not possible. Look at the life of Judas Iscariot. He was with Jesus. Three and a half years he was with Jesus. He saw all the miracles which Jesus did and he knew very well that Jesus is God, but what happened to him? He used to steal money from the money bag and this stealing habit betrayed him. He betrayed Jesus for money but in the real sense he betrayed his own soul for eternity. He lost a place in heaven and ended up in hell. Judas was with Jesus, but it could not turn his life around. Why? He didn't know how to turn on the lights. He didn't know how to unwrap the gift which was with him all the time. He was so close to the living water but didn't know how to drink that water and live for eternity.

Does this describe your situation? Do you think that your life is filled with sin and filth? Are you not able to win victory over sin? Then you need to learn how to turn on the lights and how to unwrap the gift which God had sent. You might have celebrated many Christmas, but if Jesus is not in your boat these celebration does not make any sense. You need to follow the four steps which I have described to attain salvation. You need to live a clean life once you receive forgiveness of sin and salvation. Are you willing to unwrap the gift today itself during this blessed Christmas season? Do you want to receive Jesus and forgiveness of sin in your life? If yes, please pray this prayer with me from the bottom of your heart.

Lord Jesus I believe that you are God. I believe that you died for me on the Cross. I believe that your precious blood can cleanse me from all sin. Lord Jesus I confess that I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget my sin. Come into my heart. I receive you today as my Lord and Savior. I receive you Lord as my everything. Thank you Lord for accepting me as your own child. I pray in Jesus precious name. Amen..
