In today's world when so much confusion about Christmas, when people are not willing to admit that these celebrations are because of Jesus' birth instead of they celebrate Santa Clause and Christmas tree. Wherever you go, you can see only Santa, reindeer etc. You hardly find any mention of Jesus in those decorations and celebrations. I don't know how many of those who celebrate, understand that this is for the birth of Jesus and not for any other reason. After all what is Christmas all about? To know about that, we will look at some of the scriptures from Old Testament.Isa 7:14, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."Immanuel literally means, "God with us". The same God who created this world, the same God who loves us, who cares for us wants us to have fellowship with Him. When this fellowship ended in the Garden of Eden, when His relationship with men died down because of sin, He wanted to restore that fellowship by removing sin from the lives of human beings. So He came down in this world taking the form of a man to die for us so that the broken relationship could be restored, that the fellowship with God and man could be restored.Isaiah further writes in Isa 9:6 and tells us in detail how that child would be, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." In fact Isaiah recognized that this child was not an ordinary child but God Himself who would come in this world in the form of a man.Micha writes in Micah 5:2, "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting." This everlasting God, the Lord of lords, the God of gods and King of kings humbled Himself and came down in this world just to reconcile us with God and restore us to our old self in which God originally created us.In the New Testament we read further that many other promises came to pass word by word that God Himself came down and was born in a manger, lived among us, shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that He could redeem us from our sins and wipe us clean of our sins. Isaiah further writes in Isa 9:2, "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined."Every person is walking in darkness because of the fallen nature and sin in us. We deserve to die because of our sins. We are living in the land of the shadow of death but Jesus is the light who wants to pull us out from the darkness of sin and shadow of death. He wants to come into our lives and wants to make our life to shine like day. My friend, Santa Clause could seem wonderful who distributes gifts, but there is one greater than Santa Clause who could give you the gift of forgiveness of your sins and the gift of eternal life. If you come to Jesus, He can pull you out of your sins and out of the powers of darkness keeping you in bondage and in miserable state. He will redeem you from eternal death.on 12th Jan. 2010 we are going to fast and Pray for financial breakthrough in your lives. If you are about to lose your home in foreclosure, if you are unable to make monthly payments or if you are looking for job, if you have financial crisis, please send your prayer request before 12th Jan. and expect a miracle that Lord Jesus would turn your situations around.
The Story of Christmas!

Luk 2:9-10, "And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people."At the time of Jesus' birth the number of people who saw angels in such a short period had never happened before. There was a priest whose name was Zachariah. He and his wife Elizabeth had no kids. They were old and probably had lost all their hopes of having a child. They might have prayed and prayed but as they progressed in age, it seemed completely impossible for them to have children. This was a hopeless and helpless situation for them.Zachariah got the call to perform the duty of a priest in the temple. In those times there were two places in the temple, one a holy place and the other the most holy place. Only priests were allowed to go inside of these two places while ordinary people were not. When a priest goes inside to perform his priestly duties, one chain will be attached to their leg so that they could be pulled out of the place if something happened to the priest. Now the Zachariah was inside the temple and people were waiting for him outside. When it took longer time than usual they realized that something is different. An angel came to Zachariah and said that he will have a son. Because Zachariah did not believe the angel, he told Zachariah that he will be mute till his son was born. So when Zachariah came out of the most holy place, he could not speak to people. Then they knew that he had an encounter with an angel. Approximately six months passed and then the angel appeared to another girl named Mary who was betrothed to Joseph. The Angel told her that she would give birth to a son and that His name will be Jesus who will save His people from sin. Yet another impossible thing because Mary was not yet married. So she asked, how it would be? The angel answered and said that it will happen by the mighty power of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was a righteous man and he did not want to put down Mary. So he decided to leave Mary without anybody's knowledge. But an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit."After that there was a decree which went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. Luk 2:3-5, "So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child."When they went there, all the Inns were full and they could not find a place to stay. But the owner of one Inn accommodated them in a stable. Because they were desperate they were ready to stay there. And Mary gave birth and put the little child in a manger wrapping with swaddling cloth. I do not have difficulty believing that Elizabeth and Mary could have children. Because we receive many prayer requests and people write to us that they do not have children. They write saying, “Doctors and Medical science have given up hope on us, please pray.” And we pray for those people. Many months later we receive reply from them with great joy sharing how God helped them to have a child. You can sense the joy they feel from their letters. So God is all powerful and He can do anything.Now when Jesus was born, He was laid in a manger which is the feeder box of animals in the stable. He who had everything, He who is the creator of this universe, He who made everything in this world humbled Himself to come down in this world and take birth in a place which was the lowest of the lowest place. He did it for you and for me so that we could be forgiven of our sins and that we could have eternal life.When Jesus was born, there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." So the shepherds came and worshipped Him. And at that time there were three wise men who studied the scriptures and the stars and their movements. They saw a bright star and they followed the star. By their studies they knew that there was born a king. So they came to Jerusalem where King's palace was and asked whether there was a king born in the palace? When king Herod heard about it, he was troubled because he knew that as there was no child born in the palace and that if a king is born outside of the palace then his kingdom was in danger. So he said to the wise men, ‘when you find the child please let me know so that I could also go and worship Him.’ So the wise men left the palace and as they were going, they saw the bright star again. They again followed the star and reached the place called Bethlehem. The star stood right where Jesus was and they gave presents of gold, myrrh and frankincense. All three things have meaning. Gold represents that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. Myrrh which was used in embalming and also It was a custom of the Jews to give those who were condemned to death by crucifixion "wine mingled with myrrh" represented that Jesus would die a bitter death for our sins. Frankincense was one of the ingredients in the perfume of the sanctuary (Ex. 30:34), and was used as an accompaniment of the meat-offering. This is the story of Christmas but this story does not end here. Jesus grew walked among us and finally He was crucified. He shed His precious blood to purchase pardon for our souls. His precious blood is available for us today so that we could come out of our sins and receive the gift of eternal life.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 10th Aug. 2010
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 10th Aug. 2010
