1Cor 12:28, "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."Gift of healings is also an important ministry in the Church. God said in Exodus 15:26, and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you." He is a God who is interested in healing our diseases and removing our sufferings. He promised to give sound health to those who walk in His ways and said that the diseases which bothered the Egyptians would not harm them. He is a God who heals us. But unfortunately many of the churches have abandoned this ministry of healing thinking that God does not heal anymore. I even heard people say that sicknesses are God's blessings in our lives. If sicknesses are God's blessings, then why they need to go to a doctor to get rid of it? Then by going to a doctor they are rejecting the blessings of God. But no, sickness and diseases are not blessings of God but according to the Bible these are curses. Often sicknesses are the result of sin, the result of rejecting God and His will as we read in the above verse. Sicknesses come in the category of curse as spoken in the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy. Deu 28:45, "Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you." Also we read in Deu 28:27, The LORD will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed." And in Deu 28:21-22, The LORD will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. The LORD will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish." Deu 28:35, "The LORD will strike you in the knees and on the legs with severe boils which cannot be healed, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head."Why all these curses? The reason is given in Deu 28:15, "But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you..." But there is a blessed life which God wants to give to us if we turn to Him and if we love Him with all our heart, mind and soul. I remember that in my childhood days I was often very sick, sometimes viral and seasonal fever, sometimes some other thing and it was the most painful thing to be always sickly. But when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, He not only healed me spiritually but also gave me good physical health. He removed those sicknesses from my life.Yes, my friend, sicknesses and diseases are not blessings but curses. And on the cruel cross Jesus gave His precious life for us so that we could be redeemed from curses and have a blessed life,(Galatians 3:13). He took all our curses on Himself and died on behalf of us, just to give us a wonderful life. His death on the cross was for the complete deliverance of our body, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally as we read in Isa 53:5, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."Are you in sickbed today? Are you in pain and suffering today? Do you say that there is no one who could help you in your problem? Have doctors given you up? Whatever may be the discouraging words that you have heard from your doctor, if you turn to Jesus, He can help. He can heal and deliver you from your deadly sicknesses and impossible situations. Turn to Jesus. He is ready to take away your sicknesses and curses and give you a blessed life.
Careful study of the Bible tells us that Poverty is a curse and not a blessing. But to my surprise often I have heard especially from theologians that poverty is a blessing and is the grace of God! But there is no verse in the Bible to prove their point. In fact Bible tells us that poverty is a curse. Yesterday morning I was reading Psalms 81st chapter and there God says, "if my people listen to me and obey me, I will bless them, subdue their enemies, feed them with the finest of wheat and will satisfy them with honey from the rock." Here are those verses:Psa 81:8, "Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me! Psa 81:9, There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. Psa 81:10, I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. Psa 81:11, "But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would [have] none of Me. Psa 81:12, So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels. Psa 81:13, "Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! Psa 81:14, I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries. Psa 81:15, The haters of the LORD would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever. Psa 81:16, He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you." Yes, this is the heart of God for His children. He does not want His children to live in poverty, He does not want them to beg from others but His will is to see them prosper and be blessed on the earth. Once Jesus told His disciples in Luk 11:9-13, "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" Jesus told them that, 'though you are evil still you know how to give good gifts to your children', then how much more a loving and caring heavenly father would give good gifts to His children? Psalmist says in Psa 34:10, "The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing." Psalmist also says in Psa 84:11, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly."There are hundreds of verses which speak of God's goodness and blessing for His children. Yes, He is a good God and He wants us to be blessed and prosperous in this world. David who knew the Lord from his childhood days, says in Psa 37:25, "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."Jer 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." God of Bible wants to give us a future and a hope and His thoughts for us is of peace and not of evil. He really wants to prosper us in all our ways. How can we achieve this prosperity in our lives? The secret of success and prosperity which God taught to Joshua is in Joshua 1:7-8, "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."Meditating in His words day and night and obeying His commandments is the secret of success and prosperity. Those who applied these principles in their lives were successful and prosperous. Take the life of David, Take the life of Hezekiah, take the life of all those who walked in the ways of God and you will find that they were successful and prosperous. Even today God wants us to be prosperous and successful in all our ways. Come to Jesus, He is more than willing to bless you. He is more than willing to wipe away your tears. He is more than willing to deliver you. He is calling you today, just come to Him.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
