Psa 91:5-6, "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday."

In other words, you will be protected from all kinds of fear if you take refuge under the wings of the Most High God. Fear is the only reason that cripples our lives. When fear hits our lives, it seems that everything is over. According to experts, "80% of the time we fear the things that may never come into reality and that anxiety and fear makes one terribly depressed." Yes, fear plays a great role in our lives and its effects can be seen vividly in our lives.

Fear is one of the curses spoken of in Deuteronomy 28:66-67, "Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life. In the morning you shall say, 'Oh, that it were evening!' And at evening you shall say, 'Oh, that it were morning!' because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see."

The reason for these curses is as given in Bible, "because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you."

But look at what the Psalmist says in Psa 91:5-6, "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday."

If you turn to God and take refuge under the wings of the Almighty God, there is hope for you. Do you see fears black clouds gathering around you? Do you see no way out of the unending troubles, pains and anxieties? Rush into the arms of Jesus, make Him your refuge and strength and you will find yourself safe, sound and protected.

I remember that once we were living in a place where mountains surrounded that place. One day I was returning from my school. When I looked at the right sides of the mountains, I saw thick black clouds over the mountains that appeared to be coming towards where I was. I was frightened to see those black clouds. Just by seeing that I realized that heavy rain is coming on my way. I ran so that I could reach home quickly. What a relief it was to be safe inside the house. Those fearful dark clouds were still there outside, but they could no longer make me afraid because I was in my home.

When you have taken refuge under the wings of Almighty God, nothing could make you afraid but there is peace and joy in the presence of the Most High God. In His presence it is a place of comfort, hope and blessing. Therefore I invite you to come and take refuge under the mighty wings of Almighty God. He will fill you with great peace and joy that this world cannot give.

Fear v/s Faith

By Sheela Isaac

Mat 6:31-32 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Fear is the opposite of Faith. You can have fear or faith. Faith is the factor that drives away fear. If you have faith in Jesus, your fear will flee away. How many times we live in fear without any apparent reason. Fear creeps in our mind and destroys our peace and joy. It all starts in your mind. Satan puts fearful thoughts of what you may have to face in future and when you feed over it and when you dwell on it; it grows and develops to form a strong hold in your life. It drives you to depression and anguish. Anger is another byproduct of fear. When you stay depressed you are bound to get angry all the time. Fear comes from the devil and it is his greatest weapon to torment you and destroy your peace. Somebody said, "Most of the things we fear never come to pass." How true it is that we live in the fear of the unknown and stay peaceless and in torment. It is surprising to note that most of the things never happen in our lives for which we stay depressed. Cheer up as the God of Bible says not to fear for He is in control of everything. God of the Bible says in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

The things that happen in your life are not unknown to Him. He knows what is coming in your life. If you love Jesus He is able to turn them for good for you. I remember about an incident a couple of year back. One night as we were traveling and as we pulled our car to a gas station (petrol pump) to fill gas, we felt that the tire was going flat (punctured). My brother parked the car at the place where people pump air in the tire. He checked and found that the tire was totally flat. He said, "we had never changed tire here in USA and I don't know how to do it. He said that it is very different than how we do in India." He was not able to put the jack and he tried to figure out but it was not working. I stood out side for hardly ten minutes when I felt that it was too much cold outside and so I got inside the car. Our condition looked pretty hopeless. I began to think about all the possible negative aspects. It was around night ten, it was cold and chilly night and it was hard to stay outside for may be an hour or more. My brother didn't know how to do it and so we didn't know how long we have to stay there. We had no money to tow the car. We had no money to call a motor mechanic and didn't know if somebody would be open this late. So in between all these negatives only there was a little glimmer of hope and comfort in that we were not in the middle of a road in the express way, but at least we were at a gas station. I was really thankful to God because of that. Many thoughts crossed my mind, "why it should happen now and that also at this late hour at night?" You know that all the negative thoughts create panic easily. Fear was rising inside but I knew where to find help and I began to pray. I said, "Lord we don't know what to do but please help us." How I wished if somebody would help us as a few cars pulled in there and they filled the gas and left. A person even filled the air in his tires near by, but he never tried to give a glance to see what was happening.

Well, I kept praying and hoping that God would send some help. After half an hour or so a van pulled just by our side and a well dressed gentle man came out. He filled air in the tires of his car and it looked that he is also not looking at us. Then suddenly he came to my brother and asked, "do you have flat tire, do you need any help." Then he showed where to apply the jack and how to change the tires. Surprisingly he himself began to change the tire. It was quite an amazing sight. Well he stayed there in that cold chilly night for 20-25 minutes just to help us out. I do not know who he was, whether he was a real person or an angel? I believed that he was a good human being and my heart was so grateful for the help he provided in our most needed time. I prayed for him and for his family for the next several weeks and months asking God to give his house hold salvation and that they may not lose heaven. Still, when I remember this incidence I pray for them. Jesus is so good. If you love Him, He will always be there for you. When we look to Him for help, He always comes. I can tell you from my experiences that during all these years, on every single time, He came without fail to help us. Every single time when we called Him, He showed up. What a great God He is. I am sure if you love Him, if you trust Him, He will always come to help you out.

How many times we live in fear because we don't seek help from Jesus. We live depressed, angry and peace-less because we think that we are self sufficient to handle our troubles. Instead, if you look to Jesus He will always come at the right time to rescue you. Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

He really wants to help us but when? If we allow Him to help, If we seek His help, He will be available to help us. The Psalmist says,
Psalms 34:4, “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
Psalms 34:5, “They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.
Psalms 34:6, “This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.

I want to share one more incidence in my life. Long years back when we were in India. My dad was working as Executive Engineer and he was waiting for the next promotion as Superintending Engineer. He was very sure that it would come soon but one day a great shocker came. He got a retirement letter. This letter was sent to only two people and one was my dad. The other Engineer who got this letter right away died due to heart failure. It was so sudden for us that we were not prepared for it in anyway. At that time we didn't know how our future will turn out. I heard my parent's worrisome talk and it really brought a real fear and depression in me. We didn't know where we could have our residence. Our house was under construction in another city and we had no money to rent a house. The source of regular income came to a grinding halt and we didn't know from where money would come for us to survive. My brother, sister and I were studying at that time. So we didn't know whether we could continue our studies. The future looked very grim and bleak. Naturally there was very little hope for us. I got saved just two years before this incidence. So I never knew how God speaks and whether He speaks at all to everybody. In the real sense I never had the experience of God speaking to me before. I was very depressed and fear was rising within. I remember so vividly and clearly that when I was standing in my courtyard and thinking about all the things that were unfolding in our life, I heard somebody speaking deep inside my heart. The words were, "everything is going to be alright." I looked up and there was none. Then I heard the same sentence again. I knew and I knew that I heard the voice of Jesus. Unspeakable peace and joy settled in my heart and the worry left right then and there. Yea, the God in whom we trusted came to help us out. As Jesus had said, everything turned out to be Ok, though the next three four years were rough, but even during those rough times also, the peace which I received on that particular day never left me. There was peace and tranquility in my heart because Jesus spoke that day. When He speaks mountains move. When He speaks fear leaves.

My dad talked over the phone to one of his friends in the city where we had to move. He said to my dad, "don't worry, my new house is just finished and it is lying vacant so you can stay in it till your house is complete. He further said, "don't worry about rent also when you have money pay the rent." What a relief it was. We moved into that house and stayed there for nearly one year. We paid the rent after 3-4 years. It was possible only because Jesus had intervened in our situation. Naturally it was impossible. I don't think anybody would allow you to live in their house free for these many months.

Are you going through many troubles? Are you worried not knowing what the future holds for you? Are you depressed because of your illness? Look to Jesus. He is able to pull you out from any worst situation. If you look to Him, He will help you out no matter how bad your condition is. He will definitely come for your help. Believe me He will never fail you. When Jesus comes, deliverance comes. When Jesus comes, peace and tranquility comes. Many a times our little mind cannot understand how the problem will be solved, but it does get solved in miraculous ways. Jesus knows how to deal with it because He is the creator. Are you sure Jesus is your father God? If not you can make Him Lord of your life. If you are willing to do it, please ask Jesus to come into your heart. Let us pray.

Lord Jesus, I know you are God. I know you are the creator of this universe. I know that you are able to solve my problems. Please come into my heart. Forgive and forget my sin. Cleans me in your precious blood. I receive you today as my Lord and Savior. I give my life to you. Take my life and let it be yours. Give me a place in heaven. Give me your peace and rest and take away all the worries from my life. Please come and mend my broken life Lord. Thank you Lord for hearing this prayer. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
