4th of July is America's Independence Day. This is the day in the year 1776 when America declared freedom from the Kingdom of Great Britain. This had been and still is a moment of great joy and celebration because it was freedom from a foregin ruler! Just as we celebrate the freedom and independence of our nation, there is a celebration for our soul when our souls get freedom from sin. Bible tells us that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God as we read in Romans, 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." And the wages of sin is death as we read in Rom 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."Because of our sin we are separated from God and we have become slaves of sin. Jesus said in John 8:34, "Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin." Often people say that, "it has become an addiction and I am unable to get rid of this habit or that habit." Most of the time those who are under certain bondages would tell you that they don't want to remain under that bondage, but without their knowledge and in spite of their effort to come out of the bondage, they continue to sin and no matter how hard they tried, every time they failed. This is what the bondage of sin does to a person. A person cannot get rid of his/her sins no matter how hard he/she may try. No matter how many vows he/she may take, all their efforts seem futile. People struggle and struggle and they helplessly and hopelessly see their lives slipping away from them.But I have good news for you. About 2000 years ago Jesus took all our sins, bondages and addictions on the cruel cross. He shed His pure, blameless and holy blood on the cruel cross and He died on behalf of us so that our sins could be forgiven. To give us freedom from our sins, from our addictions and from our bondages, Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross. My friend, today we can have forgiveness of our sins because of the shed blood of Jesus. We can come out of our sins and live in freedom, in holiness and in a meaningful life. And more than that, eternal life will be ours. This life is available for you, if you just come to Him repenting from your sins and asking Him to come into your life.If you want a new life full of freedom, please pray this prayer with me:Lord Jesus I am a sinner, I repent from my sins. Please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood so that I could have that freedom which you have promised. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Lord Jesus, please remove all the addictions and bondages from my life and make me holy as you are holy. Thank you Jesus for listening to my prayers and answering my prayers. I give to you all the glory and pray this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.On 13th July we are going to pray for those individuals and families who have affected by oil spill disaster. So please send your prayer request before 13th July.
If you love Jesus and if you are a child of God, you will always be victorious. There may be times when we think that this time enemy is going to get me or give me defeat. This time Satan might win the victory, but in the end of every battle you will see yourself winning. The reason is that if Jesus is in your boat, you will never face defeat because Jesus is not the God of defeat.Look into the life of David. He was just a shepherd boy. He was a very ordinary person like you and me. His job was to tend animals for his father. Till he killed Goliath nobody really knew about him. No one bothered about him nor was satan worried about him. But the day when he did that extraordinary deed that the king of that land could not do, which he did with the help of the God of the Bible, everybody woke up from their sleep. King Saul was stirred up when he heard the women of his kingdom singing about David saying, 1 Samuel 18:6-7, "Now it had happened as they were coming [home], when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. So the women sang as they danced, and said: "Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands." The people of the land woke up knowing that he was somebody extraordinary. The daughter of the king woke up knowing that he was somebody special. Even Satan woke up from his sleep knowing that his kingdom is in danger.As long as David was an ordinary shepherd boy nobody bothered about him, even Satan was not worried about him. But as soon as he came into spot light, the whole hell broke loose. The king became his number one enemy. Satan became his enemy. The neighboring countries became his enemies. Bible says that as soon as the Philistines heard that David was anointed to be king over Israel, they came to fight against David. 2 Samuel 5:17, "But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold." David was not puffed up because of his name and fame. He was not thinking with great pride, "I am the one who killed Goliath and so I am self sufficient to deal with any Philistines." No, but he knew that his strength came from God and so he looked towards God. He did not trust in his abilities, but his trust was on the living God. When the Philistines came to fight against him, he inquired of the Lord. How many times we trust in our own ability and fail miserably. But David asked God what to do. 2 Samuel 5:19-20, "So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the LORD said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” He won the victory because he obeyed and did as God asked him to do.The second time when the enemies came, David could have easily thought, "I know the answer this time what I have to do. So I don't need to bother God", but no, he inquired again. This time God gave him a different strategy than what He gave him before. You know that the enemy is very clever and keep changing strategies to defeat you. Every time you need the help of God who knows everything and only He knows the right strategy. To receive this skill, to come up with the right solution every time, you need to be in constant walk with God. There is no other way out or short cuts for it. Here is what God said to David this time. 2 Samuel 5:22-25, "Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer." When I look back in my own life I remember an incidence. The people who looked to be friendly from the outside were plotting something against us. We came to know about this when God showed a dream. In my dream I saw a man known to us standing with a very huge sword in his hand about to strike and my brother was standing in front of him. In that dream something that stood out distinctively was his dress. In those days in India there was a fashion of 'Safari Suit'. And men wore that special dress. The specialty of this dress was that the shirt and the pants were of the same color and it was a kind of different version of men's work suit. I saw in my dream that his dress was of the color of a kind of pinkish/orange in shade. In the morning when I woke up, I shared this dream with my sister and mom as my brother was out of station and my dad was in USA. I felt that he might visit us that day and so we three discussed about it and as we were alone in home we decided not to open the door for him. The day went by and I totally forgot about it. It was around 3 in the afternoon. I was just standing in the open balcony watching the hustle and bustle along the road in front. My sister was sitting there and doing something. Suddenly I saw this person coming in his vehicle. To my surprise he was wearing the same dress which I saw in my dream. I was shocked and stunned and I told my sister, "run! he is here." We had the stairs with lattice kind of walls. I looked from there and he was ringing the bell. Things that you and I can't know naturally, God shows us through dreams and visions. Acts 2:17, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams." If you are a child of God it is your privilege that God shows the things to come. God knew about his evil plans, God knew what the color of dress which that person was going to wear on that day and God knew when he was going to visit us. So God showed the dream exactly at the right time to alert us. Are you a child of God? Do you love Jesus? Then He will be with you in all your journeys and will lead you and guide you. With the help of God you can defeat all the plans and plots of your enemies and satan. It was sad to say that in that bad plot our church Pastor was also involved. He should have been a roll model for his congregation and should have lived a holy life, but instead he was promoting such evil things and teaching his church members to do such things. Recently I heard a man of God who told about a similar incidence that had happened in his life. It was in the year 1996 that he got a letter from some Hindu extremists. The letter was written with blood instead of ink. The letter said, "Stop preaching about Jesus and leave the country. If you fail to do so we will kill you with bomb by August 30th." As he read the letter Lord said to him, "read it again." He read, "by August 30th". The Lord said, read it again and he read, "by August 30th". The Lord said, read it again and he read, "by August 30th". He thought, 'why God wanted him to read the 'love letter of Lucifer' over and over again'? Then the Lord said to him, "The month is given, the date is given but the year is not given. Your days are in My hands. Before your time comes nobody can do anything." He said that thirteen years had passed since this threat and that he is still alive and nobody could do any harm to him. Yes if Jesus is with you nobody can do any harm to you. The hit man might be sitting in front of your home but so what? They will not be able to harm you. Persecution might be rising against you, but so what? They will not be able to defeat you but at the end you will always be victorious.Many think that when you love Jesus everything must be smooth, but it need not be so. There are times when journey looks hard and you might be traveling through rugged and hard road. When we were in India, one of our good family friends asked us to visit his village. So we went. I love birds very much and so it turned out to be a very fun trip. I saw peacocks everywhere. As we see sparrows around our homes, they had peacocks around their homes. I never saw in my life these many peacocks in groups enjoying freely. His village was in the interior and so one or two miles of the approach road was of dirt and gravel. Bus doesn't go there and taxies were hard to get. So we had to travel that distance by tractor. It was a very strange and bumpy ride. All the time I was holding tightly to something of the tractor so that I may not fall from it. You might be a child of God. But still, sometimes we go through similar ride. It is always not smooth, but could be very hard and bumpy at times. If you hold the hands of Jesus tightly you will not fall off, but your journey will end victoriously. Are you going through hard times? Are you saying, "I am going through bad persecution and life doesn't look easy?" Have you lost your job and don't see a way out to survive? Is your home for foreclosure and you do not know where to live? Is recession eating you up? Is doctor's report says, "it's all over?" Look to Jesus. How many obstructions might be there troubling you in your life, look to Jesus and the solution of your problem will certainly come. Look to Him who will never fail you nor allow you to face defeat. Hold Jesus' hand tightly and you'll never fall out nor will you face defeat. Be of good cheer. If Jesus, the creator and master of the universe is in your life everything will be alright. If you have not invited this wonderful Jesus into your life, please invite Him right now. When He will come He will guide you and lead you and He'll be with you all the time.
