1Cor 12:28, "And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."The next ministry set by God is Diversities of tongues. Oh, well talking about different tongues is the most controversial subject. Most of the Churches believe that Diversities of tongues no longer exists. But Bible says the opposite of it. Jesus Himself said in Mar 16:17-18, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." Jesus spoke about those who will believe on Him to them the above signs will follow. One of the sign is that of "new tongues". This has been evident when the day of Pentecost came and when the disciples of Jesus and others got filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke in different tongues. Act 2:4, "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Then we read that when Paul traveled and came to Ephesus, he found some disciples there who believed in Jesus. Paul asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" But they said that they never heard about the Holy Spirit. But when Paul laid his hands on them they got filled with Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. We read in Act 19:2-6, he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied." Tongues are signs for unbelievers 1Cor 14:21-22, In the law it is written: "With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me," says the Lord. Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers;Bible talks about two types of tongues one is given as signs as we saw in the above verses and the other one is the gift of tongues. Sign of gift of tongues is for every believer who put their trust in Jesus but gift of tongues is not given to everyone as we read in 1Cor 12:10, "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:"Now you may ask, "why is it important for a believer to receive the sign of tongues?" In 1Cor 14:2 we read, "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries."I will say that this is a private language given for a believer through which he/she can communicate with God without others knowing. I will give you one example. I was born in a home where Malayalam language is spoken. But my dad was working in Northern parts of India where Hindi language is spoken. So I studied in Hindi medium, I spoke in Hindi with my friends. But when some people visited us or in front of servants if we had to speak things which they may not understand, we spoke in Malayalam. We used Malayalam as our private language to communicate with each other in front of them. And I believe that God gave the tongues for believers to communicate with Him and to speak mysteries (may be in a language which the devil could not understand). But it is a tragedy that our churches have devalued this wonderful gift of God for believers. But look what the word of God says, "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries." And in 1Cor 14:4, "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself."This is what the sign of tongues does to a person. Have you believed in Jesus? You are eligible to receive the sign of tongues. Ask God and He will fill you with Holy Spirit and give you ability to speak in tongues. Do not worry whether you understand it or not but God understands the prayer done in tongues. In Bible we read Rom 8:26-27, Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
Probably I have written and spoken this story in the past but today I am going to write it again.When I was about ten or eleven years old one day my Mom gave me a shopping bag and money in my hand and told me to go to shop and purchase one dozen eggs. The shop selling eggs was about half a mile away from our home. I held my younger brother's hand and we both walked to the shop. After purchasing eggs we were returning home and as usual we were kicking stones with our small shoes. It was our habit that whenever we returned from school or shop, we would kick small stones with our shoes to see whose stone goes farther away.My brother and I both were so much indulged in kicking stones that we forgot that we were carrying eggs in our bag. After a few moments when I kicked a stone, I stumbled and fell down. When I stood up my brother and I both looked inside the bag and in horror we found that almost all the eggs were crushed. We both started crying because we knew that if we go with these eggs, mom would beat us or scold us. So we went back to the shop and said to the shop owner, "You gave us bad cracked eggs, please replace it." But he looked at my knees and saw the blood coming out and said, you have fallen somewhere and broken these eggs, isn't it? He was looking sympathetic at us but he did not replace the eggs. So we returned home with those crushed eggs crying all the way to home and praying for divine help of God. When we reached home, mom saw us crying so she asked what happened? And when she saw the blood on my knees, she forgot everything and started putting medicine and bandage. She said, "don't worry about eggs." I could not believe her words and in my heart, I was praising God for saving us that day.All these things seemed as if God had answered our prayers that we prayed all the way home. Though we did not know the Lord at that time still He answered our prayers and helped us in the time of trouble. Because it was the sincere prayer from the bottom of our hearts. Psalms 50:15, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."I heard my mom always telling us stories of the Bible and how God helped people in their troubles, but it was our firsthand experience to know God's greatness. That day I realized that there is a God who cared for me, that my cries reached Him and that He came for our rescue. Since then I have prayed several times and God answered those prayers. And I can say that the same God can help you in your dire needs, in your most troubling circumstances and mind blowing situations. He can make a way for you.Are you going through problems, tears, sicknesses and hopeless situations today? Jesus can help you. He is a prayer answering God. He says in Job 38:41, "Who provides food for the raven, When its young ones cry to God, And wander about for lack of food?" Yes, there is a God who cares for you. If He could hear the cry of unsaved persons like us in those days, then how much more will He care and hear the cry of His saved children? If you are saved, if you have invited Jesus as your Lord and Savior in your life, you are His child. His eyes are upon you all the time and His ears attentive to your prayers as we read in Psa 34:15, "The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry."Be of good cheer because He cares for you.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
