Jehoshaphat was a king in the lineage of David who ruled in Judah. This king was very prosperous who had riches and honor in abundance. When we read Bible we can understand the reason for his prosperity. In the book of Chronicles we read in 2Ch 17:3-5, "Now the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David; he did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel. Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance."In these three verses we read about the secret of the prosperity of Jehoshaphat.. He was prosperous because he walked in the ways of God, because he loved the Lord with all his heart and walked according to His commandments. Because of his love and dedication towards God, God also rewarded him with abundance of blessings, honor and riches. God was with him and also established the kingdom in his hand. The key to prosperity is in seeking God first. Jesus said to His disciples, 'why to worry and why to be anxious' about what you will eat, what you will wear and how and from where money will come? But He said in, Mat 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." If we love Him, seek Him with all our hearts and if we walk in His ways, He promised to give those things for which we often worry. He also said in Mat 6:34, Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. In the life of Jehoshaphat every blessing of God came to him. God blessed him with everything, even more than what he ever dreamed or imagined. He became a great king and he was honorable among others. If God is with us, He can lift us up from the dust and He can make us sit with princes. Nothing is impossible with God. Joseph was a young man when he was sold to slavery by his own brothers. His circumstances were so odd that he could never have seen any blessing. But because he loved the Lord God almighty, God lifted him up from the dungeon and made him the prince of Egypt. Gen 39:3, And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. My friend, you may be going through financial crisis, you may be in complete distress, you may be thinking from where my help will come? Psalmist says in Psa 121:1-4, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- From whence comes my help. My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep."He is a God who can help you no matter what you are facing today. He can bring you out of your troubles; He can make a way for you. If you just look to Him, if you just invite Him in your life and if you walk in His ways, He is ready to do mighty things for you.
Bible talks about a man named Job. This man lived in the land of Uz and he was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. In other words he walked upright with God. God blessed him and he became great in that land. He had everything in abundance and he lived in luxury. But one day devil came before God. Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?" (Job 1:8). So devil replied, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land." Then he challenged God saying, "But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!" And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. That was it, Job's life became a nightmare and he lost everything one by one. He lost all his belongings, all his live stocks, all his servants and all his children. More than that he lost his health and above all his wife became bitter toward God and Job as we read in Job 2:9, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!"Then his friends came to see him but when they saw him in such agony that they could not speak anything except to weep for seven days. Job 2:12-13, "And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven. So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great."Job was in great agony and as the days passed by, his hopes started to fade. At times he spoke in his disappointment that all his hopes have been cut off. Job 14:7-10, "For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground, Yet at the scent of water it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant. But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?"He compared his life to a tree that had been cut down and he says that yet it will sprout again but he found himself in a very hopeless situation that he could never survive. But there is a God who turns our hopeless situations into hopeful. A day came in the life of Job when God restored all his losses and even blessed him with twice of what he had before. Job 42:10, And the LORD restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. And Job became mighty again in possessions and wealth. The same God who brought hope in the life of Job can bring hope in your life. He is able to turn any hopeless situation and make it hopeful.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
