Last week I was watching the games program, "Who wants to be a millionaire" on TV. There was one man who was participating in that game who was stating from the very beginning and keep on saying, "I am going to win million dollars". At one point the host asked him, "How can you be so sure? And I was shocked to hear the answer, he said, "Because I know everything". And I thought, "How could any man with limited knowledge ever claim such claims?" Even our scientists do not even know so many simple things as how they happen, like how a flag waves in that fashion and so on. Many a times they would say one thing and then change it and will say the opposite of the previous statement. Why? Because they cannot know each and every thing.Needless to say that, that man who claimed as all knowing, had to leave with only $25,000. Recently my sister bought some tiny fishes. They are so tiny that they are hardly one inch long. There world is just a small tank. They probably know what is within the tank and may be a few feet around the tank. But there is no way for them to know what is in the other rooms of our home. We may probably know about our neighborhood but we just do not know whether there are any other planet like ours or not. Though our scientists have started exploring different planets still we do not know whether there is life outside this world or not. And it is ever changing with new discoveries. But there is only one thing that never changes and that is the word of God. Jesus said in Mat 24:35, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." Generations have passed, centuries have passed, millennia have passed but His word is the same yesterday, today and forever. What God has spoken is true and unchanging. What was spoken in the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New Testament and still these prophecies are fulfilling. Though our society has modernized and changed much, though we have advanced in science and technology and have evolved modern equipments, yet Bible still addresses our modern society as it had been doing in the past. Our basic necessity of getting rid of sin has not changed at all. We still need forgiveness of our sins and there is only one way for getting forgiveness of our sins and that is through Jesus' blood alone.And for the very same purpose, Jesus came in this world and shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that we could get forgiveness of our sins. I can say that no matter how advanced our technology is, still we do not have a cleanser in the whole world which can wash our sins away except the blood of Jesus. If you come to Jesus and give your life to Him, He is ready to forgive and forget your sins. God says in Isaiah 1:18, "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool."Will you come to Jesus for the cleansing of your souls?
Gen 13:14-17, And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are— northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you." God spoke to Abraham and gave the above promise. He was in the land of Canaan and he was a stranger in that land. Abraham and his nephew became very rich that even the land was not able to support them. Bible tells us in Gen 13:2, "Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold." and in Gen 13:5-6, "Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together." And there was strife among the herdsmen of Abraham and Lot. So both Abraham and Lot separated as we read in Gen 13:8-12, So Abram said to Lot, "Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left." And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom."At that time and point, Lot chose the best of the land which was fertile, lush green and even it was like the garden of the LORD. Abraham had to be satisfied with what was left. But I can say that it was a smooth transaction and they peacefully separated from each other.But often we see all the fighting and quarreling when it comes to the time of dividing property. I remember when we were in India that there came a rule that those who were living in slums could own that property as theirs own. When this type of rule came, many greedy people killed innocent slum dwellers and tried to register that property in their own name.Is it not surprising that for a small piece of property people could be so mean even to kill others? But here is a man named Abraham who was happy to choose whatever his nephew left. Though Abraham was happy with what he had yet God spoke to him and said, "Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are— northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you." If God was never interested in our prosperity then He would have never told Abraham to look around in all directions nor would He have promised the land of Canaan to him and his descendants. And more than 400 years later God says to Joshua in Joshua 1:3-4, "Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory."Do you know what type of land it was? It was a good and large land where milk and honey was flowing as we read in Exodus 3:8, "So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the HIvites and the Jebusites."Let us look more about this wonderful land which is full of blessings and God's goodness. We read in Lev 26:4-6, "then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely. I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land."Lev 26:9 "For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you."We also read in Deu 8:7-10 "For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you."You can see how God was interested to take them to the land of plenty. The Israelites were slaves in Egypt and they saw hardship and scarcity in their lives and they were oppressed as we read in Exd 3:7-8, And the LORD said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the HIvites and the Jebusites."Yes, my friend, there is a God who is interested to deliver us from our oppressions, hardships and sorrows. He wants us to be brought to a place of plenty. If we humble ourselves and give our lives to Him, if we obey Him and walk in His ways, He will shower His blessings on us.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
