When we read further in the book of Daniel, we find more incidents where God had protected His children from harms way. In the 6th chapter we read that king Darius set up one hundred and twenty satraps over his whole kingdom and over these satraps he had put three governors. Daniel was one of the governors, that the satraps might give account to the governors so that the king would suffer no loss.

Bible further tells us that this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. Then these men said, "We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.(Dan 6:3-5)"

So all the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days except the king, shall be cast into the den of lions. They managed to get the king to sign the decree and to establish it. According to the law of the Medes and Persians, once the decree is signed by the king it cannot be changed or altered. (Dan 6:7-9)

When this rule was established they had legal right to arrest Daniel and punish him. When Daniel came to know that the decree had been signed by the king, he went home and in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

Now these men gathered again and complained about Daniel before the king. King had no other choice except to put Daniel in the den of lions (though he wanted to deliver Daniel) as he was bound by his own rules which could not be altered by any means. Cutting the long story short, Daniel was thrown into the den of lions. Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.

But king was troubled in his heart and did not eat anything nor any entertainment thing like music etc. were brought before him also his sleep left him. Then he woke up early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions.

When he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?" Then Daniel said to the king, "O king, live forever! "My God sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you."

Further we read that, "the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God. And the king gave the command, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den."(Dan 6:23-24)

Yes, my friend there is a God who protects His children, those who walk in the ways of God, those who love Him with all their hearts. He is able to send angels to close the mouths of hungry lions so that we may not become dinner for them. If we have given our lives in the mighty hands of Jesus, He promised, in Psalm 91:10, "No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;"

If you DO well

By Sheela Isaac

Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."

Bible says that Cain brought fruit offering to God but it did not please Him. God accepted his brother, Abel's offering and because of that, Cain became angry with Abel. God says, "if you do well will you not be accepted?" Though Cain did offer to God, his heart was away from God. Not only did he fail to please God, but on top of that he committed the heinous crime of killing his own brother Abel, because God was happy with Abel. First his heart was away from God. He praised God with his lips and not with his heart. Secondly he killed his brother. God says to him, "if you do not do well SIN lies at the door." It means that every time when a person fails to do good he is committing sin against God for which he/she is accountable. How many times do we fail to do good have we not? Bible says in another place, (James 4:17) "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." It means that every single time we do evil, we commit sin. Then how much we need to stay careful to not to do evil.

Look at the life of Judas Iscariot. He was a disciple of Lord Jesus Christ. He was with Jesus for 3 and 1/2 years but like Cain his focus was on money instead of on Jesus. He loved money more than to follow Jesus and so he betrayed Him. His heart was not fixed on Jesus, the life giver, but his heart was more inclined on worldly things. Jesus didn't say, 'you can't have money', but the love of money, that is, 'greed' and that is evil. You can make money by lawful means with honesty and integrity and it is not sin but when greed comes in between it becomes sin.

There are many who do not get saved even after listening to many good messages. The reason is that when your focus is not on Jesus but on something else, you would not get what you should be grabbing that is important. I saw many who are attending good spiritual meetings one after another and still are not getting saved. There were times when I thought, "Why God is not helping these people to get saved? Why the loving Jesus is not listening to them?" This quest really bothered me deeply and I was really looking for some solution and answers. This quest remained in my heart for a long time, "Why God why, why don't you care for these people?" Then, after a couple of years my answer did come. If this quest is in your mind too, you might like to know what the answer I figured out was.

If your focus or motives are not right as in the case of Judas and Cain, you would not achieve anything. God has nothing to do with it but it is we who are responsible for our deeds. Judas was not looking for heaven and a holy life. That's why he got what he longed for. He longed for money and the pleasures of this world and that he got at the price of losing his own soul. Cain's focus was not God. That's why he missed the mark. What about you? Where is your focus on today?

I remember an incidence which was not very good. There was a man who was after us to do evil against us. This man's aim was to destroy us at any cost. Let's call him Johnny. This Johnny had many informants who worked under him as his puppets. We don't know how much money these informants got. We used to attend a quarterly meeting of a group of believers. These believers gather together every three month and spend some time in prayer and Bible study. Johnny placed an informant there. This man used to attend every meeting without fail. He would pretend among those believers as if he was saved but his motive was entirely different. He was not there for any spiritual growth or for salvation. But he was there to throw traps for us. If you are filled with Holy Spirit and have the gifts of discernment working, when you look at a person and within a few seconds or minutes, you can know if something is not right. In this meeting he looked very abnormal all the time. His face would be very red; his looks will be very weird. He would stick around my brother all the time to listen to the conversation which my brother had with other believers. Once I told my brother, "Why do you entertain this man when you know for what purpose he is there?" Well at the end of the meetings he would pretend as if he has to leave early but he would never leave till we leave. Every time when we came out to get into the car to return home, he would also come out and will be seen calling somebody. I believe that he called Johnny to tell him at what time we were leaving because many times this Johnny had asked us strange questions, "What route are you traveling and how much time it takes for you." Every time as soon as we enter our home within 5 minutes another man (might be another informant) would call, I think to just to see if we made to our home safely. This pattern continued for more than 3 years.

My point is that this man was not saved and it looked that he was not interested in Jesus and in heaven. His motive of attending the meetings was not for his own well being or for finding God but for something else. He looked like a believer among the fellow believers as Judas was among the disciples whose heart was away from God. He was not there to know Jesus or to grow spiritually. That's why many who attend good meetings and hear good messages never get saved. If your motive and focus is right, there is nothing that could stop you from getting saved and getting a place in heaven. If you are not getting saved after listening to many sermons you need to check up your own life to find out what is wrong with you. If you are still living a double life in evil ways and you don't see any good works/deeds in your life you need to give a serious thought on your life. When a person loves Jesus and wants a holy life and when a person repents from his/her sin Jesus comes running to help that person. Jesus is so willing to give you life eternal. When we read the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15) Jesus gives a picture of Father God. We can find how kind and loving God is. When the prodigal son returns back to his home with a heart of repentance and remorse, his father was more than willing to accept him into his house. The story tells that his father sees him from afar and runs toward him, embraces him, kisses him and takes him in. That's what Jesus wants to do with each and every one of us. He wants to take us back to His fold. If you take a half step toward Jesus with genuine repentant heart He will take two steps toward you because He wants to see everybody going to heaven. He loved us so much that He gave His life on the Calvary's Cross. What about you? Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Are you willing to live a very clean and holy life? Look to Jesus and surrender your life 100% at His feet. He will change you from inside out and then you will not like to work for somebody to do all kinds of evil.

If you are not able to get saved check up your life and motives and surrender your life at the feet of Jesus. Renounce evil and take a big decision that you would do good deeds only and would live a holy life. I am sure Jesus will come for you and bring you into His fold. If you want Jesus into your life please pray this prayer with me.

Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Please come into my heart. I surrender my life at your feet 100%. I promise you that I will lead a very holy life here after. I promise you that I will walk in your ways. I renounce all my evil friendship in my life. I renounce evil thoughts from my life. I renounce evil motives from my life. I commit my life at your feet. Please forgive and forget my sins. Wash away all my sins in your precious blood. Cleanse me Lord and give me life eternal. Take me as your child father. Thank you Jesus for listening to my prayers. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
