There was a mighty man of God called Bro. D. G. S. Dhinakaran in India. God used him mightily. When he was a small boy and when he was studying in school there was a farm near his school. During the time of lunch brake he and his friends used to go to that farm where there were mango trees bearing full of mangos. Because none of his friends knew how to climb trees, he would climb on those trees, pick mangos and throw them down to his friends. It became everyday routine for them. One afternoon, the young Bro. Dhinakaran was on a mango tree busy picking mangos and throwing them to his friends when he saw the gardener coming. Seeing the gardener all his friends fled from the scene. He was so frightened that he could not move. His attempt to hide himself on the tree also failed. He sat there trembling as the gardener came nearer. The gardener came and said lovingly, "Come down from the tree and I will not harm you." Seeing the assurance Bro. Dhinakaranslowly came down from the tree. As soon as he reached the ground, the gardener caught him by his shirt collar and dragged him towards his school. He was on the way taking him to the principal's office. But when they reached the school’s gate, the student leader of the school asked what the matter was. The gardener explained to him what had happened and how he and his friends were stealing mangos from the garden. The student leader listened to every thing carefully. Then he said, "Handover the boy to me, I will take him to the principal." So the gardener left. As soon as the gardener was out of sight, the student leader said, "you little rascal, get out of here and never do it again." Thus the student leader saved him from facing the principal.Though he committed a crime that deserved severe punishment from the principal, the student leader stood between his accuser and the principal and made him to escape from the punishment.Likewise we have committed sin against God and have fallen short of the glory of God. Satan who is our accuser and God who could punish us but Jesus stood between us to redeem us from our sins. He took our sins on Himself and shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that we could escape from the punishment for our sins. Bible says in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."Today we can get forgiveness of our sins because of the shed blood of Jesus. If we just come to Him and ask for forgiveness of our sins, He is ready to forgive and forget all our sins and ready to give us eternal life.
Bible has many examples of prosperous and successful people. Most of them were raised from the dust and were set on high positions. When we look at the secret behind their lives, we could find one common thing in their lives and that is, "God was with them". Yes, there was only one reason for their success and prosperity that ‘God was with them’. Look at the life of David, a young shepherd boy. Even his father was not confident about him that he could ever excel! But when God steps in one's life everything changes. Ordinary even a below average person does not remain ordinary at all when God interferes. And that was what happened to David. Because God was with David, he climbed ladders of success and one day became king of Israel.We read about another young man named Joseph. He was born and raised in a well to do family. His father was the richest person in the town. But his brothers sold him to make him a slave. Probably in this modern time we may never be able to fathom what the slaves had to go through and what their lives were! But we can understand that they had no rights. Once they were sold to be a slave, they had to live under their master as a slave all the days of their lives. They were not allowed to do what they wanted and there was no freedom for them. Often they were bound by chains so that they may not run away. If we say it in one sentence we can say that Joseph's future was over. All his dreams and hopes were dead on the very day he was sold to be slave. Yes, in the natural sense there was no hope left for him. He had even lost hope whether he could meet his family again. Oh, what a sad and what a tragic situation it was for Joseph.But my friend, I want to tell you about a God who is able to bring all dead hopes and dreams alive again. He is a God who is able to turn every situation around. He is able to break open those closed and buried future and can give you new future. That was what happened to Joseph. How I love this story, no matter how many times I read it, it always thrills my soul. This young slave boy was brought into the home of Potiphar, an officer of the king of Egypt. While he was in the house of this Egyptian, working as a slave, God started to prosper him. God started to show His favor and started to turn his situation around. It was such a drastic difference that his Egyptian master could clearly see. Potiphar realized that whatever Joseph touched, it prospered. So he made him overseer over everything. We read in Gen 39:1-6, "Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there. The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Thus he left all that he had in Joseph's hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate."But tragedy struck again and he was thrown into prison without a reason. This successful slave who had seen God's hand and prosperity in his life once again hit the bottom. If there was any hope left for him as a slave that was also slammed to the ground because now he had become a criminal as well. Now he was in a more bad shape than before.How many times we go through the same situation and we start losing hope. Often we cry out in distress and think, probably God has left us. Oh, well at times we don't even feel as if God is there. But if God is with us, He will make a way no matter what could be the situation.Now Joseph was in the prison and God started to prosper him even in the prison cell. We read in Gen 39:21-23, "But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph's authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper."And a day came when he was removed from that prison cell and was made to stand before the king to interpret the dream of Pharaoh. That one moment changed the history of his entire life. He was given the highest position in the kingdom of Egypt. Not only his situation and position changed but also he could meet his family. All his forgotten and dead dreams came true. He was no longer a slave or criminal but the ruler of Egypt.All these things happened to him because God was with him. If God is with us, we can see the same miracles in our lives. If God is with us we can see prosperity and success in our lives. One may wonder, “what does it mean by ‘God is with us’?” The birth of Jesus was as spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying in Mat 1:23, "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."In Rev 3:20 Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."When we invite Jesus in our lives, He forgives and forgets all our sins. He comes in and lives with us. As we walk with Him in holiness everyday, He stays with us and blesses our lives. What a blessing to have the eternal God who comes down and lives with us, walks among us and blesses us. This wonderful life could be yours, if you invite Jesus in your lives and in your homes. The simple prayer to invite Jesus will make a difference in your life:Lord Jesus, today I invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and wash me with your precious blood. Give me your grace to live a holy life and please be with me all the days of my life. Thank you Jesus. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
