EDITORIAL
In this issue read the miraculous escape of Sadhu Sunder Singh. The psalmist says in Psalms 23:4 "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Yes, if we accepted Jesus in our lives He is always with us. Jesus assures us in Mat. 28:20 "And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Dear friend, whatever may be your situation, look to Jesus. He is able to solve all your problems and pull you out from that situation. The Bible says in Psalm 27:5 "For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavillion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock." What a great God we have! If you have any prayer requests please feel free to send them to us. We will pray for you.
Miraculous Escape

Sadhu Sunder Singh was eager to spread the Gospel message. He was aware that he would pass through hardships and tribulation for this Gospel. On one occassion when he reached Rassar(Tibbat), the people got hold of him and took him to the chief Lama. They accused Sadhuji of preaching in the name of Jesus without permission. Chief Lama sentenced Sadhuji to death and decided to throw him into a deep and dry pit. They threw him into the pit and securely closed it from above. The pit was filled with the bones and flesh of dead men. The foul smell due to deteriorating flesh was intolerable. He felt that any other type of death would have been more preferable under such circumstances. He prayed in the same way as Jesus did in Mat. 27:46 "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" No one who had been thrown into and locked in the pit had ever escaped. The opening of the pit was closed with a heavy steel gate and locked. The key was always with the chief Lama, tied to his waist. Three days and three nights passed; and due to the pit's darkness, Sadhuji could not differentiate day from night. Because of extreme thirst and hunger, each hour seemed like a day to him. On the third night he was praying when he heard the sound of the heavy steel gate at the top of the pit sliding open. He saw a Rope descending. He also heard somebody's voice saying, "Hold the rope firmly." Thus he was slowly pulled to the top. When he reached the top, the door got closed as it had been before. Sadhuji looked for the person who rescued him but could not find him anywhere. He realized that the hand of almighty God was behind his release. He praised the Lord for his miraculous escape. Sadhuji was filled with new life and felt refreshed when he inhaled fresh air. Early in the morning he started preaching again in the same village. Again the people captured him and brought him to the chief Lama. When Lama asked him how he came out of the pit, he related the whole story. But the Lama could not believe it. He felt that somebody must have stolen the key for the pit and helped him to escape. He searched for the key and found it tied to his waist. Then he felt a shudder pass through him and understood that the mighty and powerful God of Sadhuji was behind this escape. Thus the all-merciful and loving God saved Sadhuji from the clutches of death and wicked men, and he continued to serve the Lord with renewed vigor. May God bless you!
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 12th Aug. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 12th Aug. 2008
