In the Bible we read about many who found favor with the Lord. What happens when a person receives favor of the Lord? Malachi 1:9, "But now entreat God's favor, That He may be gracious to us." When God's favor comes in one's life, something wonderful happens. In the Old Testament we read about a Moabite woman whose name was Ruth. She did not know about the God of Israel but when she married an Israelite she came to know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It happened that her husband, her brother in law and her father in law died. Now her mother in law Naomi thought of returning to Israel. Naomi then told her daughters in law to go back to their families. But Ruth did not go back but she accompanied her mother in law to Israel. When she came to this new country, she went to glean in the field of Boaz. There she found favor in the eyes of Boaz and we read in Ruth 2:14-16, "Now Boaz said to her at mealtime, "Come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed parched grain to her; and she ate and was satisfied, and kept some back. And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, "Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her. Also let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her."We see that when a person finds favor in the eyes of God, he/she also finds favor in the eyes of people. Why did Ruth find favor in the eyes of God? The reason why is found in Ruth 2:12 where Boaz says to her, "The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge."Though she was a gentile she came for refuge under the wings of Almighty God Yahweh. Because of this act of her dedication, she found favor with God. When we come at the feet of Jesus and when we take refuge under His mighty wings, we could also get the favor of God. He not only forgives our sins but also blesses us with His choicest blessings. He will command our boss, co-workers, friends even enemies to bless us. What I like most about Ruth's story is that Boaz commanded his workers that, "let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her."This is what happens when we find the favor of God in our lives. God Himself will rebuke the devourer and God will purposely make blessings to fall for you. Many believe that living a righteous life is a life of misery, pain and poverty. But misery, pain, poverty and sufferings come from the devil and not from God. Jesus came in this world to eradicate all these things that come under the curse. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior then you are no longer under the curse but have found the favor of God. And you are eligible to obtain all the blessings of God.Another girl who found favor with God whose name is Mary. Bible tells us that Mary was a righteous woman. One day an angel of the Lord came to her and said in Luke 1:30-33, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."And Jesus came to this world through Mary so that there could be a solution for our salvation. Today God wants us to be reconciled with Him repenting from our sins and accepting Him as our Lord and Savior. When it happens in your life, you will find favor of God. It is my prayer that you take refuge in God and find favor with God.
When Jesus was about to be born, angels proclaimed about Him that He will save people from their sins. If you look at the history of mankind, you can find that from ancient times, people have been searching and searching to find a way to get rid of their sins. In different nations and in different cultures they have tried different methods to get forgiveness of their sins. Some have created and made their own gods out of woods, stone etc. They go place to place worshipping nature and the creation of God. But do they really get forgiveness of their sin? The answer is no! After going on pilgrimage from place to place, after visiting places on pilgrimage after pilgrimages, after doing so many rituals they never get forgiveness of their sin. I remember that from my childhood my parents took me to Church. They followed every ritual with great faith that their sins could be forgiven and can go to heaven. Not only they followed those traditions themselves but they strictly made us to follow also. But at the end we were broken, had no peace, no joy in our lives and more than that our sins were not forgiven. But one day we individually met God and it changed our lives forever. Our sins were gone, our brokenness, our peacelessness, our tears were wiped away by the mighty power of God. How it happened? Not by the rituals but a relationship with the almighty God. The Bible tells us in Rev 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Almighty God wants to come and dine with us. He wants to have real conversation with us. He wants to have fellowship with us. If we just invite Him in our lives, He is ready to come in our lives. When He comes, He removes sin from our lives and even the stains of sin. Not only that but He gives us the status of children as we read in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."Yes, Jesus came to take away our sins. He gave His precious life on the cruel cross so that we could have forgiveness of our sins. In this Christmas would you humble yourself and invite the creator of this world to come and dwell in you? If you do so, He will gladly come in and bless your life.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
