Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, but then and there their problems did not come to an end. They had to continuously struggle with one problem or another. But when the problems came instead of relying on the mighty power of God and His ability to deliver them, they murmured. The result was their own destruction. When problems come how do we handle them? What is our approach in solving those problems?

Bible tells us that some were so upset that they took the matter in their own hands and were even ready to stone Moses and were preparing to take the congregation back to Egypt from where God had brought them with His mighty power. Little did they care about the mighty power of God or about His anointed servant. What happened to those who stood against Moses? Their end was completely tragic.

In the 16th chapter of Numbers we read the whole story. Those people chose their own destruction Numbers 16:31-33, "Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly."

That is the greatest tragedy a person would face that he/she will have to loose himself/herself for no reason. Just because of their arrogance and their rebellion against God that they had to face the fierce wrath of God. No one, no enemy of Moses could ever stand before him. Those who rose against him, those who spoke ill of him dropped dead before him but no one could touch God's anointed.

This was the same assurance that God gave to Joshua when he took charge in the place of Moses saying, "No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5).

If God is with you, no enemy, no evil power can ever stand before you but God Himself will be your protection.

Once when Elisha the prophet was going up forty young men mocked him and the result was terrific. It is recorded in 2 Kings 2:23-25,"Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. Then he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria."

Sometimes people think that it is a small thing to do anything against an anointed of God but it is not. One day whatever you do will return to you. But if you are walking in the ways of God, God will take care of your enemies and no evil could ever come near you. Bible tells us in 1 Chronicles 16:20-22, "When they went from one nation to another, And from one kingdom to another people, He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, "Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm."

And in Psalms 91:1-4, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler."

If you have made God your refuge, you are in safe place and God Himself is your protector.

Whitney Houston - A Life Spent in Vain

By Sherly Isaac

Last week Whitney Houston died suddenly and it was all over in news. Because I do not watch movies or listen to movie songs, I never heard about her before. But as I watched her four or five years old interview with Diane Sawyer, my heart was filled with grief. She was addicted to drugs but she could not come out of those drugs. A girl who started singing in Gospel choir did not know who Jesus was and how He could have helped her, if she had just come to Him. Being so near to the Gospel yet missed Him and His delivering power.

A life of brilliant talent was spent in vain! What she got at the end was nothing but addiction to drugs and a sinful lifestyle. Though she knew that drugs were wrong yet she could not leave those habits and one day it took her life. This is what addiction and sin does to a person. It destroys people.

In the Bible we read about a young man named Samson. God chose him to be a great warrior and to bring deliverance in the life of the Israelites. But he was so much in bondage of his addictions that he could not reach up to the full potential for which God called him. Not only that but a day came when his addiction to sin, destroyed his life. He was captured by his enemies and they put out his eyes. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison.

What a tragic end of a mighty man whom God chose to be mighty but he himself chose his destruction. Even today also God wants us to come to Him and receive the greatness for what He has made us. But many choose this world and sinful lusts of this world and destroy their own life. Bible tells us in 1 John 2:16-17, "For all that is in the world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever."

Sometimes people think that no matter what type of life they live, no matter whether they please God or not, they will anyhow go to heaven. But that is not true. Only those whose sins are forgiven and those who live a holy life will enter in heaven others will not.

We are in this world for very few years. These years would pass away quickly but after that we all have to face the creator. We all need to think on these few questions: Are we prepared to meet our creator? Have our sins been forgiven by the precious blood of Jesus? Are we living a holy life? If we die today, will we go to heaven? If the answer is no for any of these questions, then my friend, you need to turn from your evil ways and invite Jesus as your Lord and Savior, before it is too late for you. God has a great purpose for you and God wants that purpose to be fulfilled in a beautiful way. Will you give your life to Jesus today?

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
