By Sherly Isaac

In the life of David we see that Saul who stood against him could not prevail but died a tragic death. David became king and started reigning in Israel. Probably he might have thought that no other enemy would rise up again to kill him. But a day came when his own son Absalom stood against him. In 2nd Samuel 15th chapter we read how he worked out treacherously to get into the kingdom of his father.

"Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, "What city are you from?" And he would say, "Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel." Then Absalom would say to him, "Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you." Moreover Absalom would say, "Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice." In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. Now it came to pass after forty years that Absalom said to the king, "Please, let me go to Hebron and pay the vow which I made to the LORD. And the king said to him, "Go in peace." So he arose and went to Hebron. Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom reigns in Hebron!'. (2 Samuel 15:2-7 & 9 -10)"

When we read further we understand that how much bitter tears David had to shed and how much his heart was broken to pieces because of his own son. David, his household, his officers and his close friends had to run for their lives. They fled and departed. No one would have seen that such a tragedy would come from the very house of David.

Though Absalom stood against David, yet he wanted to save his son. But every person who stands against God's anointed, God Himself deals with him/her. That was what happened to Absalom also. When all is said and done, he was a dead man. No matter how much David wanted to save his life yet everything went wrong for Absalom and he lost his life.

Even today God Himself is the protector of His children those who have accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. For a little while it was painful and it was heartbreaking moments for David, but God who is the restorer, restored everything for David. He got his kingdom back as well as his life and the lives of his family and friend. But those who stood against him died a tragic death.

You may be going through heartbreaks today but remember David whom God delivered from all his troubles. The same God is ready to protect you, deliver you and restore your life.

If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, today is the day, just come to Him and repent from your sins. He will gladly forgive and forget all your sins and He will gladly restore your life.

PS: We will be specially praying for those who are affected by Witchcraft or oppressed by devil. And God will bring deliverance in your life. So please do not forget to send your prayer requests before 13th March 2012

When the Roll is Called up Yonder

By Sherly Isaac

James Black a teacher in a Sunday-school in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and president of a young people’s society, and the author of the hymn "When the Roll is Called up Yonder" says, I one day met a girl, fourteen years old, poorly clad and the child of a drunkard. She accepted my invitation to attend the Sunday-school, and joined the young people’s society.

One Sunday, when members answered the roll-call by repeating Scripture texts, she failed to respond. I spoke of what a sad thing it would be, when our names are called from the Lamb’s Book of Life, if one of us should be absent; and I said, O God, when my own name is called up yonder, may I be there to respond!

I longed for something suitable to sing just then, but I could find nothing in the books. We closed the meeting, and on my way home I was still wishing that there might be a song that could be sung on such occasions. The thought came to me, why don’t you make it? I dismissed the idea, thinking that I could never write such a hymn. When I reached my house my wife saw that I was deeply troubled, and questioned me, but I made no reply. Then the words of the first stanza came to me in full. In fifteen minutes more I had composed the other two verses. Going to the piano, I played the music just as it is found to-day in the hymn-books, note for note, and I have never dared to change a single word or a note of the piece since.

Words & Music: James M. Black, 1893
When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound,
and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Refrain

When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll, is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Refrain

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Refrain
(I have taken the story and song from

Can you say for sure today that you will be in heaven when the roll call takes place? If you are not sure I would like to tell you how you can register your names in the book of Lamb.

The Book of Revelation Chapter 20 verse 15 says: 'And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.' Book of Lamb is the book of Jesus. Jesus came in this world and shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that we can receive forgiveness of our sins. When a person receives forgiveness of sin right then and there his/her name would be written in the Lamb's book of Life. And when that person dies, he/she will get entry in heaven.

When we are still alive we need to make sure that our names are written in the Book of Lamb so that we could be in heaven when our lives end in this world. If you are not sure about your destination, please invite Jesus in your life today. Repent from your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. And He will gladly do that.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
