Matthew 1:23, "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."Though we have celebrated Jesus' birth last month yet it is not too late to meditate on the "God is with us" topic. Jesus' one of the names was Immanuel which means 'God with us'. Not only in the New Testament but also we read of amazing things that had happened when God was with people in the Old Testament. People saw marvelous and miraculous things in their lives. People saw impossible things becoming possible for them. They saw miraculous victory in their lives when God was with them. Yes, God did mighty things in the lives of people.The very first incident we read about is that Enoch walked with God and even when he was alive, God took him to heaven. Then we see the miraculous rescue of Noah who was the only righteous person in his generation. God provided for him a way to escape the judgment of the Lord which was about to come in the world. He made an ark because God told him what was ahead to come and he and his family escaped.Then we read about Moses. Moses was born in a land where the Israelites were slaves. Also he was born at a time when the king of Egypt ordered that all the new born male children should be killed. Even in those times God protected Moses and made him to be brought up in the palace of the same king who wanted to kill him and to be taken care of by the daughter of the same king who wanted him to be killed. And when God sent Moses to deliver His people from slavery, though the king of Egypt was against it, God did mighty and awesome miracles and brought them out of Egypt. Not only that, God led them, protected them, guided them and provided for them in the wilderness journey. God did mighty and awesome miracles in their lives. Even their shoes and dresses did not wear out. Deuteronomy 8:4, "Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years." and in Nehemiah 9:21 it says, "Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell." Wherever they went, they saw victory. Why? Because God was with them and He alone did marvelous things in their lives. If God is with us, He will do the same thing in our lives. Even today God wants to come and dwell with us. He wants to fill us with His goodness. He said in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Will you accept His invitation in your life? If yes, He will come in and He will dwell with you and in you. He will do marvelous things just as He did in the lives of the Bible people. If you want this awesome experience in your life that the Almighty God could come and dwell with you, then please pray this prayer with me:Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and give me a new life. Today, I invite you in my heart, please come in and wash me with your precious blood. Make me your child and dwell with me. I thank you Jesus for doing so. I give you all the glory, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
John 8:51 "Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death."Other translations say, 'keep My words" means "obey My words". Jesus said in other words "Obey Me" "Follow Me" "walk in My ways" etc. When Jesus said this the Pharisees askedJohn 8:53, "Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?"It looks that they had no knowledge about spiritual death. They didn't know that Jesus was not talking about physical death but about spiritual death. Jesus said, if you obey My words or walk in My ways you will never die. When Jesus said, "You will never die", What He meant was about the eternal life with Jesus in heaven.Bible talks about two kinds of death. 1. Physical death2. Spiritual death.Physical death is going to come to every person who is alive on this earth. No one can escape from this death. Bible says that our body is made out of dust and one day this body will return to dust. Eccl 12:6, "Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well."Eccl 12:7, "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it."Eccl 3:20 All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.But Bible talks about another death which is very important and this death is spiritual. Spiritual death means Eternal separation from God. This death is a very painful death and we should avoid it at any cost. Sin brings eternal separation from God and if you end up in hell fire you can never return from there. You can't have a second chance there and you can't ever escape from this place. This is the place of eternal torment, pain and tears and there is no escape gate there. Once you have gone in it you will live there for eternity. Bible says that this is a place where worms never die nor torment ever end. This place is called hell where Satan lives. Sin brings one to hell fire and hell is a horrible place. Mark 9:47, "And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire;Mark 9:48, "where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.'But when Adam and Eve fell in sin and brought sin into this world and to every human being on this earth God did not leave us alone. When God saw the human beings in this pathetic condition and when He saw that His creation is ruined in sin He sent His own Son Jesus to rescue us from the pit of sin. When God saw that we humans are feeble and can't come out of our sins by our own effort and we can't live a holy life without the help of God He was compassionate enough to send His only son Jesus to die on behalf of us to pay the penalty of our sin. The penalty for sin is death. Death can't be averted by any other means except by sacrifice leading to death. You and I as humans can't pay the penalty for sin because we are sinners. That's why God needed to send His HOLY son JESUS who never sinned or never knew sin to pay the penalty on behalf of us. He became that perfect substitute on behalf of us to pay the penalty for our sin. You and I can have redemption by coming to Jesus and accepting this FREE gift of Salvation. God did His job by paying the penalty for sin, offering on behalf of us. Now we need to do our job to accept this free gift of salvation. This is a two way agreement. When you agree for something you need both parties to agree. It can't be done by one person's signature. The same thing is here. Jesus paid the price on behalf of you. You have a choice either to reject it or accept it. When you accept this free gift you escape "eternal death" and become a part in the family of God. Isn't it wonderful? You need to look into your life to determine whether you have entered into this agreement with Jesus. You need to examine your own life to see if you ever agreed with Jesus to accept this free gift. Many people have different opinions about it. 1. Some think that if you are born in a Christian home you have already earned it. 2. Some think that they are already saved that's why they are able to survive in suffering.3. Some think that Jesus paid it already on the cross so they don't have to do anything.These theories are FALSE. Let me give you an example to give you a clear picture. I am using Microsoft's browser to browse website every day but it doesn't mean that I am an insider or worker in that company. Even if I get a copy of employee etiquettes of that company and suppose if I start reading it and I understand everything and all the rules, does it make me their employee? NO absolutely not. The same thing is here. You might be reading the Bible everyday, you might be memorizing a verse every day, you might be praying to Jesus every day. Does it make you a child of God or insider of His kingdom? No absolutely not. I did it till my nineteenth birthday. I attended Church without fail, I attended Sunday school without fail, I read the Bible everyday, I memorized the Bible verse everyday, even I prayed every day but it didn't make me a child of God. Nothing really changed in my life. I knew deep inside that I did not have any personal relationship with Jesus where I could say with confidence that He is my father though I used the father word hundreds of times. So sitting outside and reading God's manual "Bible" or prayer would not make you "a child of God" but you need to do your part as John 1:12 says. John 1:10, "He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.John 1:11, "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:That means you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and savior by repenting from your sin and taking firm decision that you no longer want to live in your old sinful habits. One more thing I would like to say, you can't change your life with your own effort but when Jesus comes inside of you the sinful habits will start leaving. That is the proof that you are saved or you have received salvation. If nothing had changed within a few days after the repentance prayer, it means that you are not saved and you need to pray more with the bottom of your heart. If you see some changes then you must understand that when you get saved some habits go away instantaneously but for some you need to pray and take effort to get rid of them. For that you need to ask Jesus to change you. So, finally I came to Jesus to receive this free gift of salvation and eternal life and when I invited Jesus into my heart with real repentance from the bottom of my heart He did come in. This was a glorious experience which changed me inside out. I no longer wanted to live in sin. A great longing desire for holiness came into my heart and it still burns within me. It makes me to stay away from the things which Jesus hates. Not only that, I read the Bible as an insider of the kingdom of God knowing Jesus as my "Father". I pray to Jesus knowing Him as my father. I no longer do the religious rituals as an outsider but I know and I know without any shadow of doubt that I am a child of God. My life did change and when I look back after these many years I know that I am no longer a stranger in God's kingdom. I am not lost anymore but I have a place in heaven and I know that if the knock of death comes today at my door steps I am fully ready to meet Jesus who is my father. Are you this sure? Do you know that your sins are forgiven? Do you have the assurance that your life is holy and sin free? Do you know assuredly today that your life is not sin stained life? Do you know whether your conscience is clean and it doesn't offend you? You can't keep the words of Jesus as an outsider, but can only do so when you become an insider and walk within the kingdom of God. If you have not yet invited Jesus till today in your life to live a holy and clean life, you can pray the simple prayer with me to invite Jesus into your heart. Please pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart.Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I did things which don't please you. I lived in sin. I did things which are not right in your sight. Please forgive and forget my sins. Wash away my sins in your precious blood. Please come into my heart and make me a new creation. I no longer want to worship you as an outsider but I really want to become your child. I don't want to do lip service but I really want to worship you and follow your foot steps. Please come into my heart Lord. Wash away all my sins in your precious blood and give me eternal life. I thank you Lord for listening to my prayer and answering. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.If you love Jesus, you can't live in sin. If you think that you are already a child of God then your deeds should not betray you. If you are a child of God you can't follow the evil ways of your friends. You can't make money by sinful ways and cheating. You can't go on living in sin doing drinking parties and watching filthy and sinful stuff on Tv, Internet. If you are a child of God you can't betray your wife or husband. You can't keep many girl friends or boy friends to cheat them all. You can't do witchcraft / devil worship or idol worship either. You can't plan and plot against people to kill them or destroy them. You need to repent from all the sinful deeds and you need to come out clean. If you think that your life is sinful in any of these areas or in any other areas of your life, you need to re-dedicate your life in the hands of Jesus and you need to repent from that. Just repenting only will not work, but you need to turn away from it and totally discard such evil ways which betray your life and which bring bad name to Jesus. I would encourage you to pour out your heart before Jesus, examine your life seriously and get rid of those things and live a clean life. Please take a firm decision in this New Year to live a new and sin-free life. May God help you to do so.
