In Genesis 28th chapter we read about Jacob and his fleeing to the land of his uncle Laban. Jacob had provoked his brother by taking all his blessings from his father. His brother vowed to kill him and so he had no other option except to flee from his sight. Now he started his journey to a foreign land, not knowing what he had to face, not knowing what he has to do, how he could survive, and not even knowing how his uncle would treat him... Jacob must have been very much frightened thinking about an uncertain future facing him. But on his journey all alone, heart broken, having left Beersheba and proceeding towards Haran, on the very first night itself he saw a dream, God assuring him saying, "I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."We read in Genesis 28:10-15, "Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."When Jacob woke up, he realized that he had an encounter with the almighty God. I am sure that only the promise of God would have been the driving force that had kept him going forward no matter what he faced. Whenever he might have lost his heart in despair, he would have remembered the promise of God, "God told me that He is with me and that one day He will be bringing me back to the land that I had left behind.... One day I will be back to my father's house... one day..." and that promise of "one day" made him keep on going.My friend, how many times we face similar situations in our lives. We feel that nobody is there for us and we find ourselves all alone in this world, terrified, not knowing what to do how to face the days ahead of us. But the same God who promised Jacob that, "I am with you" and assured him that "I will bring you back to this land" can do the same for you and me. The same God who was with Jacob in his joy, in his tears, in his hardships, in his heartbreaks, in his desperations, in his sorrows, the same God who never left him nor forsake him will be with you and me and fulfill what He has promised. If He has promised something to you, He will fulfill that no matter how impossible it might seem to you, no matter what you go through, no matter what your circumstances could be, no matter how many people might have said to you that you are trying to touch the branch of a tree where you cannot reach!! But that one day came in the life of Jacob when God brought him back to his own land. God will do the same for you.If God is with you, it will surely come to pass. Psalmist says in Psalms 23:6, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever." When a person lives in sin, God cannot be with that person because God is holy God. And if God is not with a person, he/she cannot enjoy peace in life. Adam and Eve sinned against God and they lost their peace because guilt and shame of their sin was bothering them. But you can come at the feet of Jesus and get forgiveness of your sins and enjoy the peace and joy He wants to give us.
God protects His children from being harmed. Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 32:10 how God took care of Israel as we read, "He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye."I was reading the story of Hudson Taylor a missionary for Christ who had great faith. Even at the time of horrible trials he did not lose his faith. I want to quote an incidence in his life which shows how he believed in God even at the point of death. In the year 1854 Hudson Taylor was sailing towards China. When they reached near New Guinea the sailing vessel was becalmed. The captain had a distressed look on his face. Hudson Taylor asked, what was the matter? The captain said, "We are carried by four-knot current to a sunken reef. Our fate seems to be doomed. We are about to die in the hands of people who live in the Jungles of New Guinea. On the shore of the Island there are cannibals (who eat humans). They are rushing towards the sailing vessel with lighting fire with great glee."Captain said, "We have done everything what we could and now there is no hope." The young man replied, "No, there is one thing we haven't done. We four of the young men on board are Christians. We will go to our room and pray to God that He could send a breeze immediately that will carry us away from the shore. They went to their room and earnestly pleaded with God. A few minutes later the young men came out of their cabin and with confidence said that their request is granted. They found that the officer who was in charge did not believe in God. They requested him to let down the corners of the mainsail. The officer asked, "What would be the good of that?" The young man replied that he and the other three young men were pleading with God for immediate help. They also told the officer, "We do not have any single moment to lose as our vessel is very near to the reef." The officer replied, "Nonsense! You can not pray and bring wind." A few moments later the topmost sail was beginning to tremble. Officer said, "That is only a mere puff of wind, its nothing bigger than cat's paw. The young men replied, "Never mind what you think" and they cried out, "Let down the mainsail quickly." Captain came up from his cabin and found that breeze had indeed come. Within few minutes they were sailing away from the dangerous reefs. Native Cannibals on the beach got very much upset seeing that the vessel was sailing away from the shore. When Hudson Taylor and his friends asked for help from the almighty God, He came for their rescue. In a situation like that where there was no hope for them and death was hanging on their heads, God intervened in that situation and saved them. That kind of God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Are you afraid of your enemies today; are you afraid of your circumstances today? Do you see strong enemies surrounding you and because of that, are you losing heart? Trust in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is able to rescue you. He will stand around you and protect you just as He stood around the children of Israel and protected them. He never allowed their enemies to come near them. The same God is able to help youLast two-three months were very difficult for us as my brother was sick and in and out of emergency room in hospital. Doctors could not figure out why he was having fatigue, dizziness and stuffy nose. At the beginning of all this one day I was praying with much burden why it is happening and what could be the solution for it. And I saw a vision. In my vision I saw that we were surrounded by black thick cloud. It was so thick that we were hardly visible in it. But suddenly Jesus appeared and he was coming towards us. As He was approaching us the black cloud started to dissipate. Finally He came and put His arms around us and I could see that the black cloud was parted and stood far away from our both sides.And during this time whenever we went through difficult times, whenever things seemed so impossible, I remembered the vision and I told in my heart, "Everything will be going to be alright because Jesus is with us, if Jesus is with us then why we need to be afraid, why we need to be worried?" Those thoughts brought great peace in my heart.My friend, visions and dreams which come from God are so precious and so wonderful. You can have these too by asking for forgiveness of your sins and inviting Holy Spirit to come and fill you.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
