By Sherly Isaac

Once Jesus was going through Samaria and He was tired and He sat by a well. As He was sitting there a woman came to fetch water. This woman was from Samaria. Samaritans were a Jewish tribe which later on became a mixed race because of their marriage relationship with non-Jews and so the Jewish people had no dealing with them. This woman who was a Samaritan woman knew very well that her people were seen as outcasts by the Jews. Not only that, but she herself had no good reputation in the society. This woman was rejected by all and looked down upon by others probably because of her lifestyle as she had five husbands before and she was living with the sixth a boyfriend.

But here we see the love and compassion of Jesus regardless of her nationality or her messed up personal life. He came searching for such persons who were not even able to walk keeping their heads up. He says in Matthew 9:13, "But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Sometimes we form our opinion by seeing the face of people but God looks at their hearts. Some people think that God hates sinners and so He comes down to kill sinners. But it is not true. If God has to kill sinners, He needs to kill all the people as the Bible tells us that there is no one who is sinless, all have sinned. Also some people think that God hates certain people who belong to some particular denomination or some particular religion. But that is also not true! Because God created human beings but religions were created by men. God loves every person and does not want anyone to die and perish.

That was the reason why Jesus reached out to the Samaritan woman. That same woman whom no one wanted in the society, that same woman who was rejected by the world but Jesus came searching for her. Right then and there she was transformed. My dear friend, this world may reject you, this world may not recognize you as a good person, may be you are useless for this world but if you give your life to Jesus, He can transform you, exalt you and make you useful for Himself. A few months back I saw Bro. Benny Prasad's Testimony. He was rejected by all but God lifted him up and he is the most traveled musician in the world. You can watch him at Bro. Benny Prasad

The same Jesus who loved the Samaritan woman, loves you. No matter what your circumstances are, no matter how downtrodden you are, just come to Jesus. He will change your life, He will wipe away your tears. Not only that but He will give you eternal life.

The 5th Verse from the Cross

By Sherly Isaac

A few months back we celebrated Good Friday and Easter. But the message of the cross is for all times and for all the people. So today I chose this message, The 5th Verse from the Cross".

The 5th verse Jesus spoke from the cross was "I Thirst" which we read in John 19:28. Now water is the source of life. Without water life is not possible. That is the reason why when the scientists send spacecraft in space or to different planets, the very first thing they try to find out is whether there is any sign of life and if there is any sign of water there.

And here Jesus became thirsty. The same God who created the whole universe just by speaking a few words, the same God whose one word created vast ocean, rivers, lakes and springs, the same God who fashioned Adam and Eve by His own hands and breathed into them the breath of life, the same God who is the source of life himself was thirsty. Why? Just to quench the deepest thirst of ours how to get Moksh (salvation), how to get forgiveness of our sins and how to know God personally.

Being from India, it is very easy to understand how the people are searching for the truth and how they long to somehow get rid of their sins, how their sins could be forgiven. Many have given up everything. They go for pilgrimages after pilgrimages, they dip in holy rivers, they wake up early and take bath in cold water even in cold winter months, they walk miles and miles without wearing any shoes, they literally torture their bodies that somehow they could get rid of their sins and they could enter into heaven.

I remember when I was in primary school. There was a boy in my class. One day he took a razor blade which we used to sharpen our pencils and gashed his forehead. Teacher rushed to him and asked what the matter was? He explained that he wanted to see God and probably by his sacrifice he could meet God.

And when I was in college, I lived in a hostel. There was a girl who took vow that she will not wear shoes for certain days. In those days she walked barefoot in rugged roads which were not tarred. And by torturing herself she thought her sins will be forgiven.

This is the deepest thirst of every human being that somehow their sins could be forgiven or erased. But our good works cannot erase our sins nor our sacrifice could ever earn the salvation of our souls. That is the reason why Jesus came in this world and went to the cross. He shed His precious and holy blood on the cruel cross so that we could get moksh or forgiveness of our sins. He did all the work of salvation for us. Now we only have to come at His feet and by repenting of our sins, we can get forgiveness of our sins.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
