Last month was very sad for us as one of our family friend's wife met with an accident and went to be with the Lord. He got married only three months back. When we heard this news it broke our hearts but I am thankful to God who helped us to come out of this shock. we attended two nice prayer meetings and it revived our souls. Jesus said in John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me." and also Jesus said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Yes, Jesus went through all the trials and tribulations and has overcome the world and He understands us when we go through the problems. May be you are depressed because of the loss of a loved one or may be because of any other problem. Look to Jesus, He is able to give the peace that passes all understanding. If we read in Bible we can see that God created man and man fell in to sin and whenever man broke the law of God and whenever people did not turn from their sins or their evil ways, He destroyed them, but if they repented and humbled themselves and turned from their evil ways, God saved them. Today we will see three portions of Bible where all these things happened, many were destroyed and many survived. Genesis Chapter 6 says about the violence, evil deeds or sins of man. If we read in Gen 6:5-8 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them." And also Bible says, "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (Gen 6:11-13) Evil thoughts, corrupt thoughts and violence filled on the earth. In today's world the same thing is happening. Evil thoughts and evil deeds have filled the earth but the tragic thing is we do not want to recognize that we are wrong. Some weeks back when I wrote about divorce and all these stuff I got many mails threatening me. What a pity!! But sin is sin before God and God can not tolerate any kind of sin whether they are small or big. He is holy and He wants us to be holy. If we read in this chapter itself it says about Noah, who found grace in the eyes of the Lord as the Bible says in Gen 6:9, "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God." Why did he find grace in the eyes of the Lord? Because he walked in His holiness, he pleased God. And we can see that only Noah and his family were saved by God when the flood came but others were destroyed because of their evil deeds. But if you want to survive there is a way out........ If we read in the book of Jonah there we see these things, Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me. "because the sins of people were very great before the Lord. (Jonah 1:2) And we read that on the first day's walk, Then he(Jonah) cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!"( Jonah 3:4) Why? Because of the sins of people, but if we read further we see that when Jonah preached, all the people of Nineveh repented before God ref: Jonah 3:5-9, "So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?" When they repented and turned to God they survived from distruction as Bible says in Jonah 3:10, "Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it." My dear friend, repent from all the sins, all the evil ways and all the evil thoughts and He will forgive and forget all the sins. If we read in 1 Ki 18th chapter we can see that the King of Israel Ahab and the people went astray from God and Ahab's wife Jezebel massacred the prophets of the LORD and because of all these things God's wrath came upon them. As Bible says in 1King 18:18 And he(Elijah) answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father's house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and have followed the Baals." But when they repented before the Lord almighty as Elijah made an alter before God and all the people turned to the living God then God heard their prayers and rain came after 3 years in that land. My dear brothers and sisters, turn from your evil ways and look to Jesus, repent and come back to the almighty God and He will give all the blessings otherwise distraction is ahead of you!! As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
