EDITORIAL
This Tuesday we heard the news about the striking of a meteor through the sky over trees.....And some news papers quoted these lines,"The event had last occurred in 1966. The most famous shower of meteors, which took place in 1833, had kept the entire American continent on tenterhooks, with many believing that the end of the world had arrived." Let us see, what Bible says about it? If we read In Luke 21:25-28 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; "men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." And also Bible says in Luke 21:10-11 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. "And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven." Yes, my friend these things show how near is the coming of Christ. Are you prepared for that day? It's enough that you lived a worldly life, It is enough that you pleased your friends and the world and the devil but now turn to God. Accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior so that when He returns with His Holy angels, He could find us faithful. Once He came to take away our sins but now He is coming to judge the world as the Bible says in Mat 25:31-34 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:" Yes, my friend, Return of Christ is very near so turn to God! In the last issue you read the 1st part of life story of Bro. Michael that how he went through much mental tension....now here is the II part. God is Able
At fifteen I was smoking, drinking, and doing drugs myself. And, had dropped out of high school. I had met my wife to be at about this time. She was doing the same things I was. Well, at sixteen I was on my way to fatherhood. Now things really seemed a mess, but I was willing to do whatever it took to take on this new responsibility. So we married and began our little life together still living the same lifestyle. When our son was born we were sure happy. I was a very proud seventeen year old daddy. Nothing changed much over the next seven years. We both worked jobs that didn't go anywhere except to pay the bills and do whatever. We continued our lifestyle and seemed to be like everyone else we knew. I did make extra money playing music. Being a musician afforded me the opportunity to go places and do things I wouldn't have done otherwise. It was fun! I guess the problem was that we were just being young and foolish and never really took one another's feelings into consideration. With the upbringing I had without a father around I never knew how to be a good husband, father, or man for all that goes. The day my wife told me she was leaving, the world as I knew it began to collapse. After a few months of separation my wife returned to take my son from me, and, serve me with divorce papers. I was left with an unknown future that I really didn't want to face. All I could think about was that everything I held so dear was gone in an instant. Through these hard times God was beginning to move in my life. At work they had hired a new fellow. He was a nice enough guy, a long hair like me. He was quiet and I didn't talk much myself. But, one day he was on his motorcycle and pulled up and began talking to me. I couldn't help notice the name on the bikes gas tank, "MARANATHA." I said what kind of bike is that? He smiled and said it's a Biblical word that meant "the Lord cometh." And that opened the door for him to witness to me! It wasn't until years later that I realized that his motorcycle was his witnessing tool, interesting. Anyway, the last thing I wanted to hear about was Jesus and made that very clear to him. He was not pushy and respected my wish on the matter. Instead, he became a friend.We worked together side by side that summer and every day he said just a little about God but knew his limitations. He and his wife invited me for dinner one night and oh did they try hard to get me"saved." I left with all of us feeling uncomfortable. After about three months he was moving away and came to say good-bye. Not wanting to leave me without someone to continue what he had started, I was introduced to his good friend. Well, before he left that day I found myself on my knees in his friends house crying like a child. As they led me in a prayer all of the anger and pain I'd been carrying for months was lifted. I had never felt anything like that in my life. I didn't care who saw me cry, I just knew that I was different when I got up and I was glad that I did what I did. I bought a Bible, started reading, and couldn't put it down. I was telling everyone I knew about this Jesus I had met. Boy did they laugh! They thought this was an effect of to many drugs. It didn't matter what anyone said, I was steadfast in this new life. And, I was about to tell the most important person I knew what had happened to me, my wife. Her brother offered me a job which would take me 400 miles from her and my son. Trusting that God would bring us back together again I took the job. Before leaving I went to see her. I told her all about Jesus, gave her a Bible, and then left. It was a hard thing to do but I was believing in God for everything. Two months later she and my son came to visit me. She could see that I was still the same as when I left, which really aroused her curiosity. The difference in me was beyond anything she could explain. One night walking on the beach she told God that she didn't believe in Him and never had. But, she knew there was something different about me that was good. So she asked God to reveal Himself to her. Reading the four Gospels, which where mere stories before, now began to come alive as she understood the words. God did reveal Himself! Shortly after that she committed her life totally to God. We never did go through with the divorce. God not only saved our marriage but saved each of us as well. There were many hurts and angers that God in His loving kindness was able to help us overcome. Realizing how He showed forgiveness by sending Jesus to die for us made us see that forgiveness is the greatest sign of a true love. In time what God did in our lives would lead other family members and friends to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. May God bless you!!
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 14th Oct. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 14th Oct. 2008
