Two weeks back we entered into Passion Week. In these days we remember the great sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. But very often people ask this question, " Why God should die on our behalf?", "Why God should send His only begotten son to die for us?", "Is there no other way to save mankind from their sins?" You may be asking the same question today. In late 1970's and early 1980's one of the Indian state, Punjab demanding to have there own nation. After many years of fight and brutal murders of innocent people when conditions worsened, former Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi took a strong action to stop this terrorist activity and that operation was successful. One journalist asked her "Why didn't you take the same action when the problem started?" She smiled and said, "To show them that there is no other option left." Yes, My friend, God saw His creation and found it wicked and sinful as the Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." And the Bible says in Romans 6:23, "For the wage of sin is death." Yes, the wages of sin is death, eternal death....." If we read in Genesis 2:16-17, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Did they die, when they ate the fruit of the tree? They lived physically but died spiritually. Their souls were dead and they were separated from God. Their relationship with God ended the same moment, they ate the fruit. And there was no other way, no other option left to save mankind except the pure blood to be shed as the Bible says in Heb 9:22, "And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission." God could not see us dying in our sins and He sent His only begotten son to die for us, He shed his precious blood on the cruel cross and made one perfect atonement for us. The blood which is flowing from cross of calvery is available for us today itself. Come to the cross, Jesus is calling lovingly, He will forgive and forget the sins of past life. Love is the most misunderstood word in this world. Many people think that no matter if they do anything but one day God will take them in heaven and God will not destroy them because God is Love. But the Bible clearly says in Hebrews 12:14, "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord." Ad it is not at all possible with our own effort, we can not live a holy life with our own effort. But it is possible with the help of God. The Bible says in Leviticus 20:8, "'And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the LORD who sanctifies you." Hebrews 2:6, "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him?" Psalmist says in Psalms 103:15-16, "As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more." And also the Bible says in 1 Peter 1:24 , "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away" All these verse says that we are nothing, we are just like grass, which is today and tomorrow will not be but it is the love of God that He had mercy on us, He could see the fallen and sinful nature of us and If we see in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation we can see God's plan to save mankind from their sins. Why did He do that? He could have destroyed his creation and could have made a new creation but because He loved us so much that He gave His only begotten son to die for us.(John 3:16) The Bible also says in Galatians 1:4, "who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father." Though we don't deserve it. He came in our midst and we rejected Him saying who is God, we don't need God, we can live ourselves as the Bible says in John 1:11, " He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him." But look at the love of God, When Jesus was on the cross, He said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."(Luke 23:34) And also the Bible says in John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." Yes, this is the love that forgives our sins, this is the love that pulls us out from the hell fire, this is the love that makes us to be His own children. What a privilege to be in the family of God? Are you in the family of God, have you become a child of God? If not, come join the royal family of God today by confessing your sins and accepting Christ in your life.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." In my previous issue I wrote "How to become a member in God's family. When a person comes to Calvary's cross & confess his/her sins to Lord Jesus,he/she become a part of God's kingdom or becomes a member in God's family. I wrote my own experience how I came to the Lord & how my life was changed totally. Several times I heard people saying that it's only an emotional experience. Nothing happens like this or I don't believe that these things really happen. And that's why they never want to come to the saving knowledge of Christ. Is there a certain proof that these things really happen? Does this experience last for ever or is it only for a while? How can a person know that he/she got saved, born again, born in God's family, sins are really forgiven, or has a place in heaven? Yes, there is a certain proof that a person is born again. When a person gets saved certain changes take place. It's a life changing experience & the person will never be the same again. As the Bible says in (2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. This is the real test whether a person is born in God's family or not. Several times I hear people saying "I am saved." But when I asked how they came to the Lord. what really happened in their lives. What were the changes they saw after salvation, they could not reply, or they did not have any proper reply. The reason is either they never came to the saving knowledge of Christ. or they are very new in the spiritual field (baby in Christian life) so that they were not able to give any proper answer. What ever it may be, a person does know for sure when he/she gets this experience. A person was attending our prayer meetings in India. He was a Hindu(Brahmin) by birth. One day he accepted Lord Jesus as his savior. We knew that he is saved, because we saw several changes in his life. He never told that he is saved, but after 2 years he said one day " I am a believer, I have a place in heaven." we asked," how you know," he said "I am saved, I have a peace of mind & the Lord hears my prayers. I get answers from God." That's it, no one need to tell anybody that he has this experience. But a saved person can not keep quiet. Look, he was not born in a Christian family, nobody told him, but the Lord showed him that he is born again in God's family. I wrote in previous issue about my experience on 3rd Nov 1981 when I received one letter from my cousin & how something happened that day. But I was not knowing what it was, why I cried for more than 2 hours. Only I could know that I received wonderful joy & peace which I had never before. And three to four months passed, I saw certain changes in my life which I will explain later. I stopped reading filthy novels and instead of that I got interested in spiritual books. One day I was reading the book of Dr. Billygraham (World renowned preacher), I think the title was" Peace with God". There it is explained what changes take place when a person gets saved. And to my surprise I found that the things which happened in my life were the same which is explained in the book. I thought, how he could know the things which happened in my personal life. That day I told my dad with joy that I am saved. Yes my friends, It is a real experience. A person can know it, in this world itself whether he/she has a place in heaven or not. If you are a saved person you are indeed blessed, but if you are not you need salvation. Now let us see what changes take place in life: When a person comes to the Lord, remarkable change comes in life. It can not happen just because of emotion. A person sees a difference between previous & present life. 1. A person becomes a witness for the Lord: If we read in Bible we read in Acts 9:1-21 the story of Saul of tarsus. How once he was destroying God's people. Acts 9:1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest Acts 9:2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Acts 9:3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Acts 9:4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" Acts 9:5 And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads." But when he met Jesus on the way to Damascus, his life was totally changed. He established number of Churches and worked for the Lord. Now we see that a great transformation came into his life. And he started preaching about the same Jesus whom he hated previously. Acts 9:20 Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Acts 9:21 Then all who heard were amazed, and said, "Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?" We see how Saul's life changed remarkably & he became St. Paul. He suffered for the Gospel. He brought many people to the saving knowledge of Christ. When Jesus comes in to your life this happens my friend. 2. Old habits leaves : When I came to the Lord on 1981. After that I found that I am no longer interested in filthy novels & movies. Once I was very fond of Hindi movie songs & movies. But I realized that I do not enjoy movies any more. When ever I tried to hear such songs, I felt terrible restlessness within me. Finally I said goodbye to all these things. God helped me to stay firm in spiritual field all these years. I did not change myself, but the Lord changed me. After salvation I got a great desire to read spiritual things, and hear good messages. If you are a saved person you can not sit & see all the filthy things in TV. When Jesus comes holiness comes in life. Because Jesus is Holy. 1 Pet 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 1 Pet 1:16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." 3. Get answers for each & every Prayer: Before knowing the Lord, I used to pray & I felt that nobody is there to answer my prayers. Once I did not do well in my exams. It was a board exam. It means chances of getting pass marks is very less. So I was very much upset and I started praying. I prayed for two months till my results were declared. I prayed several times in a saying, day "Lord somehow let me get pass marks." I never failed in any class, so I don't want to fail this time." But never knew what will be the result till end, because I never knew that God heard my prayers or not. God appeared to me as a deaf person. When results were declared, out of 30 girls in my class only 11 girls got pass marks & luckily I was one of them. If you are a stranger before God, you will never hear His voice. But after salvation it was 1983 Aug when I first time heard the voice of God. Then I knew that God speaks to His people. It was very hard time for us. When we where thinking that my dad will get promotion in his job as Superintending Engineer, but suddenly one day we knew that he got compulsory retirement from his job. It was a heart breaking experience. I was very much upset & I was standing alone in courtyard. I was thinking, " what will happen to our future, how we will get money now. Will I be able to complete my studies. Where will we stay now. Are we going to sink, Is our future doomed." All these questions were in my mind. When I was thinking about all these things, suddenly I heard the voice of God. Lord said" don't worry I will take care of your future, I will make a way." And a great peace flooded in to my soul. I knew for the first time that it was God who spoke to me. We moved to another place. There my dad's friend told " you live in my house , don' t worry about rent, when you get money pay, the rent. And it brought great relief. We lived there nearly 8 months. Then we got our own house & moved from there. We paid the rent after about 1 year. Thus God helped us in the time of tears. The same peace I experienced again & again for 1 year. When God speaks, it happens, the peace which passeth all understanding fills our soul. If you are a child of God, Cheer up you will never sink, let storms may come, let heartbreaking experience may come, God will never leave you. There is a song I like very much. It says:From sinking sand He lifted me, with tender hand He lifted me;From shades of night to plains of light, O praise His name He lifted me; Now after I got saved I do not remember whether I prayed for a certain thing for so long. Every time I pray Lord says something. Or I get great peace, and I know that the Lord heard my prayers. Lord is no more a person sitting afar off. What about you ? Have you ever come to that relationship, where you can say He is my father. He is my Lord. He is no more a stranger to me. If you are not sure whether you are a saved person or not, whether you will reach heaven or not, then pray to the Lord & come to the saving knowledge of Christ. May God bless you.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
