Luke 2:10 -11, Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Angel said to them, "I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people." What are the good tidings of great joy? For some people if they are getting money, and for some if they are getting big houses or jewelry or good clothes it is news of great joy for them. Months back we were talking to one person and when my sister said, "many prophecies are fulfilled and it seems that the coming of Jesus is very near and rapture may happen any time." Before she could finish her sentence, the person got excited and said, "O, really, when rapture will occur, many homes will be empty and we could get 4 or 5 homes to live." We could not believe the answer and it did shake us. Yes, my friend you may have everything in your life, big house, good food, beautiful Christmas decorations but all these things can not give you joy. Then what type of joy is indicated in this passage by the angel? If we read further it says, "a Savior is born, who is Christ the Lord." And the Bible says in Matthew 1:21, "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins." Adam and Eve did sin and the whole world is under curse because of that sin. We deserve death because of our sins. But Jesus came into this world in the form of a man. He shed His precious blood for the whole mankind for the remission of sins. When a person accepts Him as his/her personal savior and invites Him in his/her life, Jesus not only washes them with His precious blood but He fills them with His peace and joy that word can not describe. No matter what the situation mat be through which you are going through, you will always feel a great peace and joy in your life. That is the good tidings of great joy which the angel proclaimed to the people. This joy can be yours if baby Jesus is born in your very hearts. If we read Luke 2:10, it says, "Do not be afraid." As we are approaching new millennium many people are afraid, what will happen no one knows. Some survey said that 49% people are having Y2K panic but 51% said we do not have any fear. Another news said, "fifty percent of U.S. citizens say they're less likely to attend public gatherings on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, USA Today reported, citing a USA Today/CNN/Gallup poll conducted Dec. 20-21." Yes, we do not know what is going to happen but if Jesus is your Lord and savior, you need not to fear for anything. He will take care of you. In the first week of December 1992 when we were in India my mother asked my brother to purchase some extra grocery because Christmas is approaching. Well, we had no idea what was going to happen after two days. On 6th Dec. a Muslim mosque was demolished and there were great riots over the place. Curfew was imposed for more than 1 month, but we had enough food to eat. Not only that, God protected us in the midst of all the violence where many people were pulled out from their homes and burnt alive. Yes, when we trust God, He will protect us and give us perfect peace in the midst of worst storms. In this Christmas let Jesus be born in your hearts and let this season and all the days of your life may be filled with good tidings of great joy. Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah writes in detail about the birth of Jesus and the death of Jesus. While writing he has even described many of the things in minute detail. So we are celebrating Christmas, the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. That replicated the book of Isaiah, to say in other words birth of Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled many of the prophecies. Israel was looking for Messiah and it all began with Genesis 3:15, "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel." From that very moment Israel was looking for the Messiah and every one were trying to find out who that blessed women is going to be whose seed is going to crush the head of that old serpent. But alas when that blessed Messiah cam,e the Pharisees, scribes and high priests did not recognize Him. Many of them were fed up because mankind has been looking for Messiah now for almost 4000 years. Many might have said that the promise given in Genesis 3:15 is not getting fulfilled as 4000 years have already passed and they might have concluded that it will never be fulfilled. But when the due time came here comes the Messiah fulfilling more than 300 Biblical Prophecies. But the story does not end with the birth of Messiah. He had a destination, the cruel cross - Again prophesied by Isaiah and many other prophets. Specifically Daniel is very clear when he talks about Messiah being cut off in Daniel 9:26, "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined." Many experts calculated the sixty-two weeks according the Jewish year and found it to be exactly the same date on which Jesus hung on the cross. And there is going to be another major event - the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Many are waiting for it and many are already fed up saying, when Jesus did not return in 2000 years He may never come. Jesus said in Mathew 24:15, "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand)," When Jesus said these words He was clearly referring to what is written in Daniel 9:26,27. Yes many are afraid even to talk about the second coming of Jesus because they think, people will laugh at them. But here Jesus has said, when you see these things happening, know that end is near. Yes, He has commanded us to see and discern. When we read Daniel 7:13-14, it describes the event of Jesus coming to rule the whole earth. Daniel 7:13, "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him." Daniel, 7:14, "Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed." And when we read Matthew 24, we find that most of the signs written there are getting fulfilled. Many false prophets have already come and many are still there. Lawlessness is abounding. People's heart has gone cold. And just two weeks back Israel showed willingness to sign an agreement with Syria for Golan Heights. If that happens that can open a way for Antichrist to take over. That will fulfill the Bible prophecy written in Daniel 9:27, "Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." Yes my friends, Jesus may be coming very soon. We do not know the hour, but we know for sure that His coming is very near. And for sure many will not recognize Him, because they never put faith on Jesus. Jesus said in Luke 18:8, "I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" When Son of Man comes He is going to look for faith. Those who think that faith is not needed, those who think you need not to put your trust in the Lord, those who think that there is no hell no heaven, know it for sure that you will not be able to make it. Yes you need child like faith in Jesus, so that you can say yes to His will. Again Jesus talks in the parable of 5 wise and 5 foolish virgins. That the foolish virgins could not enter the kingdom. When they had time to prepare they did not prepare. When they had time to set their life straight with the Lord they did not do it. When the bridegroom came, they went to buy oil because they did not have enough. But those who were ready went with the Bridegroom. And the foolish virgins came and knocked but it was too late. Are you ready to meet the Lord? If not, get ready by turning to Him. And praying to him this simple prayer from the bottom of your heart. Lord Jesus I am a sinner. And I know that you came down in to this world to save me from sin. And you died on the cross and rose again for my sake. Please forgive me of my sins and wash me with your blood. Make me a new person. Help me to walk in your ways. I pray this prayer in Jesus name. Amen
Mat 2:11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." Here Gold represents riches and glory that belongs to God. Jesus who, is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He came to this world as a poor man, born in a manger, lived in a carpenter’s home and He says I have no place to lay my head… why did He leave His riches and came in this world like a poor person? Let us see in 2 Corinthians 8:9, "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." Yes, He became poor for me and for you so that we may become rich… rich in spirit. Many think that if they have lot of money they are rich. But what does the Bible say about it. If we read in Revelation 3:17 -20"Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'; and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see." Yes, you may have lot of wealth and you may be living a good life, you may have good name in society, you may be very generous towards less fortunate people but if you have not yet known Jesus in your life, you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. You have nothing in your life that’s why the Bible says, "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich." Yes, Jesus came in this world to give us riches. He wants to make you a rich person. Repent from your sins and invite Jesus the King of kings in your life and you will no more be poor. He will not only wash you with His precious blood, but He will give you the white garments of righteousness, that you may be clothed with His glory. He will wipe away all your shame, guilt and sins. He will open your eyes that you may see. Jesus wants to give you this beautiful life that’s why He came in this world. Just look to Him and ask Him to come in and He will come into your life and you will never be the same again. In this Christmas let you be a rich person.May God bless you!
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it."
