Last week I was watching Indian Newscast on TV. They showed the recent visit of Mr. Clinton to India. He invited Mrs. Rachna Katyal, a young bride who lost her husband, and talked to her. Mrs. Rachna Katyal and her husband were returning from Nepal. She was married barely 23 days earlier and while they were returning, Indian airline’s plane was hijacked. Militants killed her husband about which she was not knowing until she was released after many days. She could not even see her husband’s face for the last time. It was a tragic incident which shook the whole world. After three months since this incidence she went to meet the president of USA. She was looking fairly normal but her smiles were snatched away from her face by the cruel militants. When I looked at her face, my heart was filled with sorrow. I asked God, why it should happen to a person? Why? Of course, I could not get any answer from God but God gave me this message and I hope, it would be a blessing for those who are going through similar situations. We can see in the Bible one woman who went through the same situation, but got God’s comfort and peace in her life. She got an answer to her cry from God. Her name is Hagar. She was rejected by her husband Abraham as the Bible says in Genesis 21:14-17, "So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba. And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs. Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, "Let me not see the death of the boy." So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept. And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is." Hagar was wandering in the wilderness of Beersheba and the drinking water was used up. She did not know what to do, where to go and from whom to seek help? She was in great pain and agony and there was no one to help her. Yes, my friend, are you in this situation where you are thinking that no one can help you and that no one can hear your cry? You may be in deep sorrow and pain, may be you have lost your loved one? But look at the life of Hagar. She lifted her voice and wept, and God heard her cry from heaven. God sent an angel to ask what happened to her? Yes, if you are in this situation today, look to God. There is a God who can hear your cry. There is a God who can listen from heaven and can wipe away all your tears. There is a God who is ready to help you no matter what your situation may be. His name is Jesus. The angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said to her, "Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is." And after that we see how God marvelously helped her. She and her kid not only survived from that disaster but God gave her smile back to her face. He turned her sorrows into joy. Yes, my friend, You may be going through much pain and sorrow not knowing where to turn? But Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Yes, He can turn your sorrows into joy and can give your smile back to your face. Just look to Him. If you have any prayer request please feel free to send it to us. We will pray for you. Now you can listen to us on Internet at this address: http://www.VoiceOfWilderness.com
Crucifixion Facts or Fiction?
By Sherly Isaac
Many times people ask, did Jesus really die? Some people think that crucifixion of Jesus is a made up story. Some think that Jesus was not crucified, but Judas was crucified instead of Jesus and Judas’s appearance was changed to Jesus. Many think that God can not die for us, He is mighty and if He wants to save us, He can do that sitting on His throne… There are so many questions and number of theories about it. Let us analyze what is wrong and what is right? Why Jesus came in this world and what was the reason of His coming in this world?1. He came to save us from our sins: The Bible says in Matthew 18:11, "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost." We are all lost in sin and we need forgiveness of sin. When Adam and Eve sinned before God, they not only fell in sin but they also lost the fellowship with God. They became dead in spirit. And the same blood that was flowing through the body of Adam and Eve is flowing in our bodies - corrupted and sinful blood. That’s why Psalmist says in Psalms 51:5, "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me." Yes, we are born in sin and our good works can not please Him. It was necessary that, pure, innocent and blameless blood should be shed for the remission of our sins. That’s why Jesus came in this world, He shed His precious blood for the remission of our sins. Peter says in 1 Peter 2:24, "who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed." When we read the Old Testament we see God’s law for atonement. We read in Leviticus 16:21-22, "Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to an uninhabited land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness." Here we see that on the Day of Atonement the high priest laid both his hands upon the head of the scapegoat, and he confessed upon it all the iniquities, transgressions, and sins of the people. Thus, the sins of the people were laid upon the head of the goat, and then the sin-laden goat was carried out into the wilderness, never to return to the camp. This dramatic procedure foreshadowed Isaiah's later reference, "All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah. 53:6). And we can read in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Jesus became the scapegoat for us and took all our iniquities upon Himself so that we may be righteous before God and enter into His kingdom. He came to give His life for us and if anybody says that Jesus did not die on the cross it means he/she is not correct. They are mislead from the truth.2. Jesus was not afraid of death: John 10:17-18, "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." Yes, Jesus has authority over life and death. He said, "I will lay down my life." For what? We read in John 10:15, "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep." Oh, He loved us so much that He did not even care for His life. To be continued............
