Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Today when we look around we see people in the grip of fear and anxiety. I read in a report saying that 90% of the teenagers in USA are depressed and by the age of 16, they become alcoholic or addicted to strong drugs to forget their pain. Those who are not married are worried about their future. Those who are married are worried whether their husband/wife will leave them. Every year almost 10,000 children hear the most discouraging words from their parents that they are taking divorce. We are living in a society where nothing is secure, no one knows what will happen the next moment or next hour or next day.

But the Bible says, "Fear not, for I am with you." Why should we fear, why be anxious when God is with us? We read in Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You." If we trust in God then there is nothing to worry or nothing to fear. But the question is how we can trust God?

We must be born in God’s family. When a person accepts Jesus in his/her life, he/she becomes a child of God as the Bible says in John 1:12-13, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." A child has faith and trust that his/her parents and believes that they will not do any harm to them and trusts that whatever they do, will be for their good. In the same way when you become a child of God you need not to fear or worry about anything. God will take care of you as a child. At times of trouble or at times of problems, He will help you and strengthen you. He will uphold you with His righteous right hand.

When you become His child, He will provide all that you need and He will keep you in His perfect peace. No matter what your situation may be or what you are going through in those situations, He will give you peace that passes all understanding. In the midst of problems you can rejoice. That’s why He said, "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Yes, He is ready to help you in any of your situations. Will you consider to trust on Him?

Jesus the High Priest

By Vinod Isaac

Exo 28:1 "Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron's sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar."
Exo 28:2 "And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty."
Exo 28:3 "So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest."
Exo 28:4 "And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest."

As I was reading the above verses the word "holy garments" attracted my attention. And I thought what: garments and holy? and as I read further I was more astonished to see that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is so particular about the garments of a Priest. Then I made some startling discoveries I want to share with you this Lenten season.

Here the Priests when they come before the King of Kings needed to have holy garments and verse 2 says it was for glory and beauty. The reason is simple. Hebrew 12:14 says that without holiness no one can see the Lord. Priest offers sacrifice for the atonement of sin. So when he comes before the Lord, he needs holiness not only in his life but also his garments must be holy.

Now let me take you to Genesis Chapter 1- 3 to find out the meaning of glory and beauty. Here Adam and Eve were living in the garden of Eden and God used to come to meet them. But one day they disobeyed God and God's glory left them and they found that they are naked. They were able to see God and talk to God because of the covering of that glory, and now as the glory is gone they are afraid, they are hiding, they can no longer face God.

Not only they lost the glory, but they lost the beauty too. When God created every thing it was beautiful as we read in Gen 1:31 "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day." and compare it with Genesis 3:17 "Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life." Genesis 3:18 "Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field."
Exodus 28:3 says that the artisan who creates the garment must be filled with the spirit of wisdom.
That means they must be a group of people filled with Holy Sprit. Why? Because the garment is for consecration of the priest to stand as Priest before the King of Kings.

With all the breastplate, ephod, robe, tunic, turban, sash, they were also needed to wear two onyx stones.

Exo 28:9 "Then you shall take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel:
Exo 28:10 "six of their names on one stone, and six names on the other stone, in order of their birth.
Exo 28:12 "And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD on his two shoulders as a memorial.

And these stones needed engraving of the names of the children of Israel, so that their names are presented before the Lord as a memorial. Verse 29 says that the breastplate also must contain the names of the sons of Israel, and this breastplate is called breastplate of judgment. And all this is because the Priest has to stand before God for the atonement of the sins of the children of Israel because he is appointed Priest over the house of Israel.

2000 years ago Jesus came into this world, walked on the face of this earth, was the express image of the Living God and John 1:1-14 says that He was God and that He created every thing that was created and that He came into this world and we beheld His glory. He was having glory and beauty.

John 1:14, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

He was filled with Holy Spirit.

Acts 10:38 "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."

And He became High Priest for us

Heb 2:17, "Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people."

Yes, he became High Priest to make propitiation for our sins, to prepare the way for our salvation, to cleanse us from unrighteousness. And to as many as receive him, to them He gives them the right to become children of God.

John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:"

Forgiveness is free but Jesus paid a heavy price to bring that forgiveness for you and me. He had to lay down His life for you and me to give us the glory and beauty Adam and Eve lost. Yes He made a sacrifice for you and me.

And he is inviting you to come to him so that He can give you the glory that you lost because of sin. Bible says

Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 3:24, "being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,"
Romans 3:25, "whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,"

Come and submit yourself in His presence to obtain the grace that flows from calvery. Yes you can get justified through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Yes His blood is still available to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Just tell Him that you are a sinner and want to be washed by His blood and receive the Lord Jesus in your heart. He will gladly forgive you and receive you as his Child.

May God bless you.

Crucifixion facts or fiction?

By Sherly Isaac

1) Jesus was knowing before hand about His death:

Jesus was not afraid of His death and also He was aware of what is going to happen in His life. If we read in Matthew 17:22-23 Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up." And they were exceedingly sorrowful."

And also the Bible says in Matthew 20:18-19, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.

All the above verses say that Jesus was knowing about His death and He was not in the dark. He was knowing what the purpose of His life was and why He came in this world and that’s why He Himself explained it to His disciples about His death.

2. Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of Messiah:

Many prophecies are fulfilled in the life of Jesus and many are yet to be fulfilled. Let us see a few of them, which were fulfilled in the life of Jesus as Messiah.

a) Seed of a woman:

In Genesis 3:15 we read, "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."

According to this verse, Jesus came from a woman and lived like a man but He bruised the head of the devil on the cruel cross by defeating him.

b) Covenant with Abraham:

Genesis 17:19 Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him."

God promised to establish His covenant with Isaac an everlasting covenant and we see that Jesus fulfilled that promise by shedding His precious blood for the remission of our sins. Jesus said in Matthew 26:28, "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

c) God will raise a Prophet like Moses:

Deuteronomy 18:15, "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.."

According to these words God raised a prophet like Moses. Moses to whom God gave the law but Jesus fulfilled the Law. Moses was sent to rescue Israelites from their bondage of Egypt and Jesus came to rescue us from our bondage of sin.

d) Rejected by His own people:

Isaiah 53:3, "He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him."

Jesus was rejected by His own people as the Bible says in John 1:11, "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him."

e) Betrayed for thirty pieces of silver:

Zechariah 11:12, "Then I said to them, "If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain." So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver."

Jesus was betrayed for thirty pieces of silver as the Bible says in, Matthew 26:14-15, "Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver."

f) He was accused but kept silence:

Isaiah 53:7, "He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth."

Jesus was accused falsely, but He did not open His mouth as the Bible says in Mark 15:4 –5, "Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, "Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!"

But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled."

g) Spat on and struck:

Isaiah 50:6, "I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting."

We read in Matthew 26:67, "Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands."
We can see that Jesus was betrayed and people insulted Him even they spat in His face.

h) Gave Himself for Sacrifice:

Isaiah 53:5, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."

Rom 5:7-8, "For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

j) His hands and feet were pierced:

Psalms 22:16, "For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet."

Jesus was hanged on the cross and His hands and feet were nailed on the cross and He shows His hands and feet to His disciples as we read in John 20:27, "Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing."

k) His cloths were divided:

Psalms 22:18, "They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots."

Soldiers divided the cloths of Jesus as the Bible says in Matthew 27:35, "Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots."

l) Forsaken by God:

Psalms 22:1, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?"
Matthew 27:46, "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"

m) No bones broken:

Psalms 34:20, "He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken."

Jesus was crucified but His bones were not broken as the Bible says in John 19:32-33, "Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs."

n) He was buried with rich:

Isaiah 53:9, "And they made His grave with the wicked; But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth."

Jesus was buried at the tomb of a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock….(Matthew 27:57-60)

o) To be resurrected:

Psalms 16:10, "For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption."

And also in Psalms 49:15, "But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me."

And we see that Jesus rose up from the dead the third day as the Bible says in Mark 16:6 But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him."

Yes, Jesus was crucified and buried but He rose up from the dead and He is still alive to help us. He is not dead but lives forever and forever.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
