Yesterday I was watching TV News and the Hindu religious festival of Maha Kumbh Mela in India was on the screen. The Hindus believe that by taking a dip in Ganges all their sins will be forgiven and that they will get access to heaven. When I heard one old man saying, “Because I took dip in the Ganges my sins are forgiven and after death I will be going to heaven..”

Few years back the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi was murdered. After planning and working out the murder the first thing they did was, to take a dip in the holy river of India. But of course their sins were not forgiven nor did they receive any assurance of heaven. After a few months when Police surrounded them they committed suicide. Why did they kill themselves? Because of the guilt and fear they took this extreme step.

How is it possible that only by taking a dip in the waters of any river one could get their sins forgiven? And today Ganges is most polluted river in the world. Environmentalist are worried how to make it pollution free. Taking a dip in this polluted water could not even wash dirt out of your body. Now but what is the remedy for our soul? You may think that drinking soup and or water may cleanse your soul but NO, it is possible that it may cleanse your intestine but not your soul.

We are made up of three parts soul, mind and body and soul is totally different from body. We need water to cleanse our body but water will not work for our soul. Muhammad the founder of Islam prayed this prayer, "O God, wash my iniquities with snow-water" (Bukhari). Yes, no water can cleanse our sins whether it is water of the Ganges or Snow water. That’s why the God of the Bible says in Isaiah 43:11, “I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.” And the same God says in Isaiah 1:18, "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

And we read in the whole Bible that only righteous or blameless blood can cleanse our sins. We also read in the 53rd chapter of Isaiah that Messiah would suffer for our sins and die just to save us from our sins. Almost 2000 years ago Jesus the Messiah came in this world and died on the cruel cross to purchase our pardon. He bled, He suffered, He was mocked and He died a very shameful death so that we may never be in shame, that we may never suffer but have eternal life and when we close our eyes from this life, we may enter into heaven. Today we can get our salvation through the blood of Jesus as we read in the Bible 1 John 1:7, “… and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Yes, my friend, if you are not sure about your salvation or if you are not sure where you are going after death then pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus I am a sinner, please come into my heart and wash me with your precious blood. Give me assurance of heaven. I accept you as my Lord and Savior today. From now on you are my Lord and you are my savior. Thank you Jesus for saving my soul. All praise and glory belongs to Jesus. I pray this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Lord the giver of every thing

Isaiah 54:3, “For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.”

Many times people do have problems trying to understand who God is and what he has stored for them. God says in Isaiah 54:3 that He is going to make us expand to the right and to the left and He is going to give us inheritance. Yes my brother and sister He is a God who wants to bless us beyond our expectations. He does not rejoice in our poverty, He does not rejoice when we are down and broken hearted. Instead He is a God who wants to give us things in abundance.

Let us examine few of the things that He gives.

1. He gives Eternal Life:
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

He has given His son for us so that we may be able to obtain Eternal life. What is the limit? There is absolutely no limit, it is forever, it is eternal. Does anybody want to die when there is a facility to achieve eternal life? Well, it is available only from Jesus because John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” And this eternal life is only for them who believe in Jesus Christ and receive Him

John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”
John 1:13, “who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

2. He gives Peace that passeth all understanding:

John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Phil 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

In Jesus you not only receive Eternal life but Peace that passeth all understanding. What is the limit? Again it is beyond understanding. It is God's peace He gives to us. That is why Psalmist says in Psalm 23

Psalms 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Whatever may happen to a believer, his/her days are in the safe hands of Jesus. He is their shield and buckler. He is their strong tower.

3. An Inheritance beyond:

Heb 11:8, “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

By Faith Abraham went out for an inheritance he did not know. By Faith we go for an inheritance that we have not yet seen. 1 Peter 1:4 says that we have an inheritance that is not corruptible and that does not fade away.

1 Pet 1:4, “To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,”

Again what is the limit? No limit and it is incorruptible, no power on earth can corrupt this inheritance. It remains as it is as it does not fade. And it is reserved for every one who has received Jesus as their personal Savior.

4. He gives us health:

Mat 8:2, “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.”
Mat 8:3, “And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

When a person with leprosy came to Jesus and asked, “if you will you can make me clean.” Jesus answered and said "I will". Yes my friends it is the will of our heavenly father that He will give us healing. If it was not His will he would have never healed the sick. Our God is a compassionate God. He is merciful and He shows mercy. He is gracious and He shows grace. Are you suffering from sickness? look to Him he can heal your sickness.

5. He gives Wisdom and wealth:

1 Ki 3:11, “And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;”

1 Ki 3:12, “Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.”

1 Ki 3:13, “And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.”

God asked Solomon what he wanted and Solomon asked for wisdom. Bible declares that there was no one in the history wise like Solomon and there will be no one in the future. Also wealth beyond imagination.

Yes He is the God who wants to give all good things to us and it is we who run away from His Blessings and turn Him away. Would you like to turn to Him and say, ‘Lord I am sorry that I have sinned against you. please forgive my sins and wash me with your blood. Lord please come into my heart and reign in my life. Make me a new creation. I ask all these things in Jesus Name. Amen.’

He knows every tears which we shed…

He knows the pain, which we go through,
He knows the burden, which we bear,
He knows every drop of tears, which we shed,
He knows the sorrows of our heart

He knows the brokenness and depression,
He knows what are the heartbreaking experiences
Yes, He knows what is betrayal by His own
He know the way of thrones

He knows what is mockery
He knows what is guilt of sin
He knows what is the burden of sins
He knows what is a heavy heart
Because He went through all these
He was there where you are today,
He knows, yes He knows, what is your situation
He is not happy to see you in tears

And the Savior wants to pull you out
He wants to make you stand on the mountain top
And He knows the solution of your problems
Will you look towards Him?

Will you ask Him to come and take all your burdens?
Will you ask Him to take your pain
And fill your hearts with His divine peace
That passes all understanding. Will you?
And Master will come and bless you!

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th July. 2008

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 8th July. 2008

Printed Version of the Magazine
