Once again we have entered Lenten season in which we remember our Lord’s suffering and death on the cruel cross. How precious the gift was which was sent for us from heaven for the pardon of our soul and for the remission of our sins and to give us eternal life. But the stunning fact is that three billion people out of six billion have never heard the name of Jesus. Out of those who heard the name of Jesus most of them do not believe that Jesus or Messiah could have died for our sins. Jews believe that Messiah has not yet come and that Jesus could not be the promised Messiah because He died on the cross but they expected the real Messiah to come and rule as a King. Muslims believe that Messiah has already come but He never died but God saved Him and took Him to heaven before tasting death. Hindus do not believe on Messiah either. But what about Christians? Most of the Christians do not know that Jesus can save them from their sins. They have a Christian name, they go to Church, they take Holy Communion, and they participate in all the activities of the Church but do not know who the real Jesus is. Why? Because they never read the Bible. They do not know what is in the Bible but whatever the religious leaders or people say they hear it and make up their opinion. The same thing is true regarding Jewish people. They never read the Torah (First five books of the Bible that is written by Moses himself) or Old Testament but they read Talmud which is Jewish commentary written by Jewish Rabbis. That is the reason why they do not know what was actually written about Messiah while 700 years before the birth of Messiah, prophet Isaiah prophesied and said about the virgin birth of Messiah (Isaiah 7:14) And about the detailes of the death of Messiah in Isaiah 53rd chapter. Not only Isaiah but many other prophets foretold about the Messiah who was going to come and die for us. Daniel prophesied in Daneil 9:26, "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off,..” And it happened exactly. The Bible says in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Yes, people are perishing because of lack of knowledge of God. Why read the Talmud when we have the original written documents with us? And the same thing is with Muslims. They never read Quran in their own language but they read in Arabic whether they are understanding it or not. That’s why they say that God saved Jesus while Jesus did not come to be saved but to die for our sins. Jesus Himself said in Mat 26:28, "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Few days back one person wrote, “Paul preached Jesus who was the Bar Jesus which is mentioned in Acts 13:6, “Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus,” And he gave a link of web page and said, if you want to read about real Jesus please go to this site. I wrote, ‘if you want to read about the real Jesus please read the Bible because there is no other book or document which can give this much information about real Jesus. And the real Jesus or Messiah once came and died for our sins. He took all our sins on the cruel cross so that we may never be in sin and have eternal life. Yes, He is coming again as King of kings and Lord of lords who will judge the whole world. Now He is not going to die but will rule as a just king. Are you ready to be with Him always? If you are not sure please pray this prayer with me. Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, please come into my life and give me assurance of heaven that if I die today, I may enter into your kingdom. Wash me with your precious blood and give me a new life. In Jesus name I pray, amen. He will gladly wash your sins with His precious blood. When we talk about the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we find different groups of people having different concepts about it. There is lot of confusion. Why? Because of lack of Bible knowledge. # One group of people say, "Salvation and Anointing of the Holy Spirit comes during child baptism."# Second group of people say, "all people have Holy Spirit." # Third group of people say, "Anointing comes with the experience of Salvation."# Fourth group of people say, "Salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit are two different experiences."Alright, if you want to know the right interpretation, then you need to read Bible and find out what the word of God and Lord Jesus say about this. Bible is the base, which is given for us. It is God's word written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and only Bible can lead one in truth. Now let us look to all these theories in the light of the Bible. # "Salvation and Anointing of the Holy Spirit comes during child baptism." If we read the Bible we do not find any verse or incidence, which could support this theory. We do not know the basis of this theory. According to the Bible unless a person asks for salvation, and accepts Jesus as Savior he/she cannot receive this experience. Also for receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit a person has to ask for it. A child doesn't understand anything. It cannot be obtained by other person's (parents or anybody else's) initiative. #"All people have Holy Spirit." This is second theory which says that everybody who are attending Church, who are born in a Christian family are filled with Holy Sprit. Do you find anything in Bible, which could support this theory? I do not. Holy Spirit does not and cannot stay in a sinner's life. A sinful person cannot have the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is so precious. He is so Holy, so gentle a person. Do you think He will come and stay in a person's heart who even does not want God's intervention in his/her life. Who even doesn't care for God or for God's work? Do you think He will forcefully enter into somebody's heart? NO!!! Anointing is not that cheap, but requires much prayer and much longing. # "Anointing comes with the experience of Salvation."Here is another group of people who say that, when a person gets saved he/she gets the anointing too at the very same time. If you read Bible you will find that the experience of Salvation and the anointing of the Holy Spirit are two different experiences. When a person gets saved God puts the seal of the Holy Spirit on that person. Read the verse, Eph 1:13, "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,"Jesus died for the whole human race; He did shed His blood for the entire world. But when a person asks for salvation and receives it he/she gets saved. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:" Here it is clear that as many as received Him only those who received Him are called children of God and not others. As you have asked and received the experience of Salvation, in the same way if you want anointing of the Holy Sprit, you must ask for it. Now let me show you, how both (salvation and the anointing of the Holy Spirit) are different experiences. When a person gets saved some signs will follow. Bible says that when a person gets saved he/she becomes a New Creation in Christ. 2 Cor 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." This verse clearly says that old things have passed away. And you will see these signs in the life of a saved person. They quit smoking, drinking, quit watching movies, quit reading books (other than Bible or spiritual books), quit going to clubs and ugly parties, stays away from people who are talking vulgar things, doing all kinds of dirty things and so on..... These are the signs of Salvation.If you do not see these signs in your life it means you are not saved. You need salvation to get a place in heaven. Now in the same way when a person gets the anointing of the Holy Spirit another set of signs follow. Remember these signs are different than the signs of salvation, which we saw above. If you read Old Testament you will find that whenever somebody got the anointing of the Holy Spirit, some signs followed. David prophesied when the Spirit of Lord came upon him. 2 Sam 23:2, "The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue."Again Zechariah prophesied: 2 Chr 24:20, "Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, "Thus says God: 'Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He also has forsaken you.'"Now what about New Testament. If you read you will find that when people were anointed by the Holy Spirit again some signs followed.Elizabeth prophesied: Luke 1:41, "And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."Luke 1:42, "Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!"Luke 1:43, "But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"Lord Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit and Holy Spirit descended like a dove: Mat 3:16, "When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him."When the disciples of Lord Jesus and many including His mother Mary were baptized with Holy Spirit they spoke in different languages. Acts 2:3, "Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them."Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."Yes my friend, whenever people got anointing some signs followed. These signs are different than the signs of Salvation. Hence, Salvation and the anointing of the Holy Spirit are two different experiences. Do not mix it together. Let not devil fool you.Holy Spirit is a very precious gift, believe in God and you can have it. Once you receive the anointing your life will never be the same again. Once you receive the anointing Lord Jesus will come and dwell in you and He will walk with you, He will guide you, He will be with you always. Lord said, if you ask you will receive. As you have asked and received the Salvation the same way ask for the anointing of the Holy Spirit. If you are anointed, then the above said sign will be seen in your life. If not you may be saved but not anointed. May God help you.
For the last one year I am working among Muslims and I heard them say, “we believe in the same Yahweh God whom Abraham served who was the God of Moses.” In other words, Allah is the same God of the Bible. It is surprising to hear this but most of the Muslims think that Allah is the same God of the Bible but is it reality? Let us see a few qualities of God of the Bible and of Allah. Let us start from Genesis. God of the Bible showed the quality of triune God in the whole Bible. Many think that Trinity came only after 365 A.D. But it is not truth. If we want to see the history of trinity we should turn to the first chapter of the Bible where we read in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:2, “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”Genesis 1:3, “Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.” In the very first verse we see God of the Bible and in second verse we see the Spirit of God and in the third verse we see that God spoke or Word of God i.e. Jesus. And what is trinity? God, Word of God (Jesus) Spirit of God (Holy Spirit). But when we read in Quran we see that Allah is not a triune god. Again go back to Genesis. God created Adam and Eve and placed them in the garden of Eden. Everything was nice and beautiful but when we read the 3rd chapter of Genesis we see the fall of Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve sinned and lost everything. Their soul died instantaneously, they were separated from God, they were excluded from the garden of Eden. They received the curse of God but does the story end there? No, story goes on and we see that God provided tunics of skin to cover their shame. This passage does not specifically say that God sacrificed animal for the atonement of their sins and provided skin tunic for them. But later we see in the 4th chapter of Genesis that Cain and Abel brought sacrifice to God. And further we read that God gave Laws to Moses for atonement of our sins. And the Bible says in Hebrew 9:22, “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” And further we read in New Testament that Jesus came and died on the cross for our sins. He took all our sins on the cross to give us eternal life. So we read a specific pattern in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation that we humans are sinners and that God wanted us to save us from our sins. When He saw that animal sacrifice was not sufficient or not a permanent solution for our soul, He came down and gave Himself for us. He shed His precious blood on the cross taking all our sins on the cross. But He rose from the dead and lives forever. And He wants to give us eternal life. But when we look in Quran we can see that Quran denies this. Quran abrogated the message of atonement through sacrifice. Quran abrogated the message of Salvation through blood sacrifice. Quran abrogated the message of the precious death of Jesus on the cross and replaced it with our own good work while we can not earn our salvation by our good works. If we do good then also what is the remedy for our past sins, which we have already committed? If Allah and God of the Bible are the same God then how it is possible that we see a total contradiction in the message of the Bible and the message of the Quran? More than that, Allah did not promise eternal life, forgiveness of sins or salvation of his followers as we read in Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) Sura 3:185, “Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.” This Suras from Quran very clearly says that every soul shall have a taste of death, that is, if a person has to pass through hell fire, then how and why is it possible that he/she can come out of hell fire and go to paradise… no way.. this verse does not say anything about etrnal life. This verse very clearly says that every believer in Allah will be tasting death which means that they did not get the life which Jesus promised – that is eternal life and haven as we read in John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” According to Quran every soul is going to hell fire till the day of judgment which means that they are not reaching heaven. There is no chance to go to heaven once you go to hell fire.. but yes, Jesus cam save you when you are still in this world as He said in John 3:15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. How a person can save himself/herself from hell fire when he/she is already in hell fire? And this verse says that they will be there till the time of Day of Judgment. Do you think a person who is already in hell fire will get a seat in heaven after judgment? Judgment is a day when people get their final sentence or verdict. But contrary to it Jesus promised heaven for those who believe on Him as we read in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” So obviously Allah and Elohim are different Gods and their messages and qualities are totally different and contrary to each other.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
