Mark 16:17 "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:18 "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Jesus said these things. And these signs will follow those who believe, and further it says, "In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues…." Last week I attended a prayer meeting where the preacher said, "Tongues are not sign but it is a gift." And if people are speaking in tongues it means they are possessed with "emotional spirit". The whole hall burst in laughter, why? Because we do not have the correct knowledge of the word of God. We never paid attention to read and carefully understand the word of God. Jesus made it very clear that the above said signs will follow those who believe. The Bible nowhere says that Holy Spirit is a Emotional Spirit. The founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ said that these signs will follow – including tongues, then who are we to question His words?

My dear friend, these are last days and we must be very conscious about every message we hear. If the words spoken by a person is not according to the word of God then he/she is not from God.

Let us examine some more things about the filling of the Holy Spirit and how and when a person gets filled with the Holy Spirit?

Bible says that after Jesus ascended to heaven all His disciples (about 120 people) were gathered together and suddenly Holy Spirit came upon them. They started speaking in new tongues as we read in Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Now the question is who can receive the Holy Spirit? Bible says in Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

So the first condition is to repent from your sins. If your sins are not forgiven then Holy Spirit can not come inside your body (Because God is holy He can not come and dwell in our unholy body). After repenting from your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior you can receive Holy Spirit.

When Holy Spirit comes, it gives power and authority to witness as we read in the Bible Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

The same Peter who denied Christ three times preached the Gospel with might and power when Holy Spirit came upon Him. He became a bold person and history says that for the sake of Gospel he gave his life.

Whoever Believes in Him will Not Perish

By Vinod Isaac

John 3:14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up.
John 3:15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Most Christians know the above verses very well. They also know that these verses speak about God's great love. Jesus is talking about His own death. He is comparing His death with the incident that took place when the Israelites sinned when they were coming out of Egypt. The consequence of the sin was a deadly plague which resulted in their death in large numbers being bitten by serpents. People realized that they sinned against the Lord. They came to Moses saying, "We have sinned, please pray for us".

Numbers 21:7, Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, "We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you; pray to the LORD that He take away the serpents from us." So Moses prayed for the people.

Moses prays for them and God gives him a heavenly solution. We read about this heavenly solution in Numbers 21:8-9.

Numbers 21:8 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live."
Numbers 21:9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

And now what Jesus is saying is, that as Moses lifted up the serpent so the Son of Man be lifted up. What is the parallel? At the time of Moses people sinned and were dying. Today People are dying in sin and in hopelessness. The serpent that was lifted up on the pole saved the lives of people. Who ever who looked at that large serpent lived. Jesus says, "I am going to be lifted up in the very same manner so that whoever believes may live." That is why John 3:15 says, "Whoever believes in Him (Lord Jesus Christ) should not perish but have eternal life." Again John 3:16 repeats the very same thing that God loved the world and gave His only begotten Son. That's the only precious thing Father had and He gave it all for you and me. For what? So that we may not perish, but have everlasting life.

Do you know that everyone in the World is perishing? Well that is what Jesus knew and That is the very reason why He took the form of a human being. Do you know that there is something other than perishing? It is eternal life and Jesus came to give it to us. Today if you will realize that you are perishing without hope, in sin you will get up and look to Jesus who lifted Himself on the Cross and shed His precious blood for you and me. To those who look toward Him and receive Him in their hearts, He gives them the ability to become children of God.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

He died and rose again on the third day and lives for ever. He said in Luke 24:46-47

Luke 24:46 Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,
Luke 24:47 "and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Jesus speaking that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations.

Three very important things are implied in this verse

1. Repentance
2. Remission of sins
3. His name

Yes these are the three vital ingredients that are important to receive eternal life. You need to repent of your sins. For that, you need to realize that you are a sinner; that means you are way short of the standards God has set and have to feel sorry about the wrong you have done. After that you have to come to Jesus for remission of sins for 1 John 1:7 says, "the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." Cleansing of sins is not possible through any other source. It comes only through the Cross of Calvary. And you need to believe in His name because His name is above all names.

Acts 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Let us quickly see what happens when a person does all these things.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

According to the above verse this person becomes a new creation. How it all happens? To understand this let us turn to Genesis where God is doing His marvelous creation. The first thing he said was, "Let there be light."

Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

This is the same thing that He does in our lives when we receive Him in our hearts. He says, "let there be light" and our life gets illuminated with that light. Next Genesis 1:4 "And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness." He saw the light that it was good. He sees the light in our life and says it is good. And the next thing He does is that He divides the light from darkness. Did you hear it correctly? Yes you did. The God we serve is a God of division. He divides light from darkness. That is why He says in Psalms 103:12, "As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us."

This is just the beginning. The more we yield ourselves in His hands the more He constructs us and molds us and fashions us according to His will.

Do you want to come to Jesus? Do you want to believe in Jesus so that you may not perish, but have Everlasting life? Come to Jesus and tell Him that you want to surrender your life in His safe hands.

You can pray this prayer of confession.

Lord Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you and done wrong that displeases you. I believe that you died for me on the cross to take away all my sins and to wash me and cleanse me and you rose again on the third day. Please forgive me of my sins and cleanse me so that I may live a holy life. Please come into my heart and change my life. I ask all this thing in Jesus Name Amen.

Promises of God that Never Fails

By Sherly Isaac

Genesis 12:7, Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." And there he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

God gave this promise to Abraham when he was 75 years old. And yes, he believed in this promise that God will give him children. But days and months passed by, years passed by but he was still childless. He started loose the hope The hope which he had at the age of 75. He started thinking, "my wife was 65 when God spoke first, but now she is becoming older and older.. is it possible that she will ever bear a child? Is there any hope for me?" His doubts were reflected when he spoke to God in Genesis 15:2-4, "But Abram said, "Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" Then Abram said, "Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!" And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir."

Thus God specifically told him that, "Eliezer shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir." But it was very difficult for Abraham to understand with his limited mind. How many times we do the same thing. God gives promises but when the promises are not fulfilled within a time frame, we think that it would never be going to happen. We look at our circumstances and situations as Abraham did. He took into account his and his wife’s age and thought that the promise of getting a child is never going to be fulfilled.

Then God showed him the stars in the heavens and said to him (Genesis 15:5-6), "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." Abraham believed in the LORD, and this was accounted to him for his righteousness.

As Abraham believed on God he might have been filled with a new hope and enthusiasm. But the Bible says that ten more years passed by and so it is natural that his enthusiasm and hope could have been dampened as he became an old man of 85 years and his wife 75 years old. He now reached to a stage when all hope ends. He came to a predicament as he thought that by no means he could have a child. Under such circumstances his wife suggested as in Genesis 16:2, So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Abraham got the new idea, he might have thought that the suggestion fits in exactly with what God told him, "This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir."

Abraham and Sarah tried to fulfill the promise of God with their own plan. They tried to work out a way to attain the promise of God by their own method. But instead of fulfilling the divine plan of God they messed up the plan and purpose of God. Yes, when we try to fulfill the promise of God by our own mind then we not only fail miserably but also mess up things.

We see that almost 14 years since God appeared to him again when he was 99 years old and repeated the same promise which He gave almost 25 years back. And we read in Genesis 17:15-17, "then God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. "And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her." Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, "Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?"

Now Abraham had reached the state of no -return. He had lost all his hopes and so he openly laughed when God said, "Sarai will bear a child." And this was the reply of Abraham to God in Genesis 17:18, And Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!" Abraham is telling God that, it is not possible that Sarai could bear a child at this age and so says, "now Ishmael might live before you and you give the blessings to Ishmael what you wanted to give to my child, that would be OK with me!" Many a times we too do the same thing. We mess up things and wants to stick onto that mess. We do not want to take the blessings of God that is kept for us because it seems so impossible to us and we think that we would never reach there. But God confirmed again saying in Genesis 17:19, Then God said: "No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him."

And again God confirmed in Genesis 18:10 And He said, "I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son." (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)
Genesis 18:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
Genesis 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?"
Genesis 18:13 And the LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?'
Genesis 18:14 "Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."

And we see that God gave a son to Sarah and Abraham according to His promise though they were advanced in age, though it was impossible according to them. May be God has promised many things to you and it might have not been fulfilled yet but there is a time for every promise. And yes, God is able to fulfill His promises and He fulfills His promises in His own time. He will fulfill all His promises in your life. He will not allow you to be ashamed!

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
