Halloween is soon approaching. And the astonishing fact is that many Christians also celebrate Halloween. Does the Bible endorse these types of celebrations? Bible not only condemn these type of things but also warns not to involve in that as we read in Exodus 23:13, "And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth. Putting pumpkin on your house doors spider webs on yards and evil symbols in your homes can not bring any good for you or for your family. Making your face like devil and going house to house to collect candy will not do any harm to devil or demons. You may be doing this because of fear thinking that evil spirits are left loose on this day and may hurt you but how can you scare devil by putting devil's face, costumes or scary things in your home? When Jesus performed mighty miracles then all the multitudes were amazed and said, "Could this be the Son of David?" And when Pharisees heard it they said, "This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons. But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. "If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? "And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. (Matthew 12:23-27) The way you are trying to drive away devil is not going to work at all. Many of you are trying to cast out devil by doing makeup of yourself as devil and decorating your homes to look like hell. It may help devil to come in and stay in your homes rather than to go away. And more than that it is not a battle of flesh and blood but it is battle of spirit. Devil and demons are evil spirit, you can not drive them away with fleshly weapons but you need the weapons of spirit as mentioned in Ephesians 6th chapter. Paul says in Ephesians 6:11-13 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. If we want to stand against the power of darkness and evil we should put on the armor of God. There is no other way to defeat devil and his army but by the blood of Jesus and by His mighty power we can overcome devil If you have any prayer request please feel free to send it to us. When I came to USA, I saw people celebrating Halloween and it really made me to think how a nation where people are educated and intelligently think also to celebrate these types of festivals? And I started searching to find out what is Halloween? I read in many places about this festival and found that it has nothing to do with Christian faith. People believe that on 31st October's night dead people's soul comes on earth and it can cause damage to their houses and family members. That is the reason people put skeletons, devil, spider webs and other scary symbols at their home and yards so that devil may not come near their houses. Halloween is the day when ancient people used to celebrate it as All Souls Days or All Saints Day or as Celtic festival. Many hundreds of years ago Celts lived in some parts of Great Britain and Northern France. They used to worship nature, sun and many gods. The Celts celebrated their New Year on November 1st. Every year they celebrated it with a festival and called it end of the "season of the sun" and the beginning of "the season of darkness and cold." When crops were harvested and stored for winter season they extinguish fire in homes on Oct. 31st. Celtic priests used to go to the hilltop and light new fires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals and they danced around. In the morning Celtic priest gives an ember from his fire to each family which was taken to their homes to start new cooking fires. They believed that this fire will keep their homes warm and free from evil spirits. Many go in parade wearing costumes made with the skins and heads of animals. When Romans invaded Britain in the first century they brought their festivals of goddess of fruits and gardens which was celebrated around 31st Oct. As the time passed by, these two festivals became one so that these two holidays became one major fall holiday. Catholics used to celebrate it as All Saint's Day or All Souls Day to honor the dead. They used to dress up like saints, angels and devil and took out big parade. And the Halloween which is celebrated today includes all of these influences, apples, nuts, pumpkins and harvest, black cats, magic, evil spirits and death, and the ghosts, skeletons and skulls from All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day. So we can see that it is not at all a festival of Christians who believe on the living God who is mightier than any evil spirit or any creation of God. Sun, moon, stars, vegetables, fruits and nuts are all created by God and they are God's creation.. We have to worship Creator not creation of God. God who created fire, sun, pumpkin, fruit etc can save you from evil power. He is above all evil power. Devil trembles and bows down before Him. Yes, He wants to protect us from all evil. When the Israelites were in Egypt and God sent ten plagues on Egyptians then no harm befell on the Israelites but God protected them from all evil. Death and destruction came to Egyptians but because God was with Israelites, He protected them from all harm and destruction. If you and family want to be protected, you need to invite Jesus in your lives. When Jesus will come in He will protect you from all evil. Fire can not save you, pumpkin can not save you nor drive evil power away from your homes but God can. Are you looking for protection from evil power in your lives, look to Jesus. Cleanse your hearts and homes by the blood of Jesus. Put away all the evil symbols from your homes, let the holy God come into your hearts and homes. Let His peace, joy and happiness come into your lives. Let His light shine in your life.
Deu 7:9, "Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;" Here these verses talk about the great qualities of God. Our God is a God of mercy and compassion. He keeps His mercy and covenant for a thousand generations. He is faithful and covenant keeping God. Wow....Over and Over again we find, Bible talking about God's mercy and compassion. 1 Chr 16:34, "Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." This verse again speaks about the mercy of God It says that God's mercy endures forever. He is merciful and compassionate God. You can not find such a loving and merciful God anywhere in any other religion. It is indeed God's unfailing love and compassion which brought Jesus Christ into this world to die for us. He sent His only begotten son Jesus into this world so that He can rescue us from eternal damnation and eternal hell. That is the greatest mercy of God. All other religions talk about "Do." They say "do good works, do good rituals, do this and that and you will reach heaven." Some religions say "don't hurt anybody, don't do any harm to any animal and so on." Some say "don't worry about heaven, keep on doing good works, keep on feeding poor, keep on taking care of other people and finally you will reach heaven." The question is? Is it possible to do good works and live a sinless life by ourselves. No, nobody can live a clean life without the help of God. Holiness is the key to reach heaven not good works alone. You can not obtain holiness by any other means except through the blood of Jesus Christ.What is the distinctive characteristic of the Bible? Bible does not teach that your good works can make you to enter heaven. Rather Bible speaks about the Savior Jesus Christ. The savior who came down in the form of a man to die for your and my sins. God of Bible Himself left His heavenly glory and came down seeking you and me. Here God Himself comes down to seek those who are lost and are perishing in sin. That is because of the love and unfailing mercy of God. Bible speaks about salvation through the one and only savior Jesus Christ. Bible talks about salvation of soul through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. See the difference between Christianity and any other religion. Here the creator himself came down to save His own creation. He does not say 'do this and do that, help yourself by good works to get redemption of sins'. No.Bible clearly speaks that all our works are like filthy rags in the sight of the holy and almighty God. Isa 64:6, "But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away." You can not please God by your insignificant rituals or works. It is just a filthy rag in the sight of God. You can not please the most holy God by putting a small candle before Him. You can not please almighty God by giving some money to Him who holds all the riches, gold and silver of this world. Psa 50:9, "I will not take a bull from your house, Nor goats out of your folds." Psa 50:10, "For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills." God says, "everything of this world is mine, what could you offer to please Me?" Nothing....We can not please God by our works, but we can receive His undeserved, unmerited favor by accepting Him through the precious and most holy blood of Lord Jesus Christ. Yes my friend you can have eternal life through Jesus Christ. He gives it freely. You have to just reach out and receive it. You have to just receive it by repenting from your sins and asking for forgiveness of your sins. It is that simple!!! Now God is merciful and compassionate, but what else Bible says about Him. Again look at the same verse Deu 7:9, "Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;" Here this verse says that He is merciful, compassionate, good, and faithful God who keeps His covenant even for a thousand generations.But to whom is He is merciful, and faithful? To those who LOVE God, to those who KEEP His Commandment. Here it clearly says that He is merciful and kind only to those who walk in the ways of God only toward those people who keep His commandments. Today you can see many preachers who speak about the love and mercy of God but they forget to preach about His judgment, about His holiness and about His intolerant behavior toward sin. Now if you hate God, if you live an unholy and unpleasing life, if you fail to walk in the ways of God, what will happen? Exo 20:5, Deu 5:9, "you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,"Deu 32:40-41, "For I raise My hand to heaven, And say, "As I live forever, "If I whet My glittering sword, And My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, And repay those who hate Me."The above said verses talk about His vengeance and His judgment. It is the reward to those who fail to walk in the ways of God, to those who are not diligent to walk in holiness. Bible says it very clearly that God's vengeance and judgment is for these people. In the two previous messages we saw the consequences of sin committed by King Solomon and King Jeroboam. They sinned and God did not spare them. They did evil in the sight of God and God brought judgment on them. God does not delight in sin. Whoever walks in sin, whoever practices it, whoever continually lives in sin and rejects God, God lists them as haters. Read these verses which talk about sin. Psa 5:4, "For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. Psa 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity."We need holiness in this hour more than anything else. Without holiness no one will ever see God. Yes my friend, what about you? Do you think that your life is good in the sight of God? Do you think that your sins have been forgiven and washed away in the blood of Jesus Christ? Do you know for sure that you have eternal life in heaven? Do you know for sure that your name is written in the lamb's book of life? Are you sure that your life is clean? If not you need to repent from your sins. You need to come to Calvary's Cross with a repenting heart. You need cleansing in your life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. This is your chance to get rid of your sins and sinful life style. You can have holy life through Jesus Christ. If you are willing to receive holiness in your life. If you want to receive Jesus Christ into your heart. Pray this prayer with me.Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Please forgive my sins with your precious blood. Cleanse my life, cleanse my heart. Give me eternal life. Give me your holiness. I want to live a holy life. I want to see you in heaven. I want to live a clean life which is pleasing to you. Make me holy this day. Wash away my sins through your blood which was shed for me on Calvary. Make me your child. Lord I praise you for hearing this prayer. I thank you for listening to my prayer. Lord I believe that from today onwards my life is a transformed life. I pray in Jesus precious name. Amen.

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
