In Exodus 1st chapter we read about the hardship Israelites faced in Egypt. They were afflicted and tortured but Bible says that the more the Egyptian afflicted them the more they multiplied and grew. So the Egyptians were in dread of the children of Israel. Egyptians made their lives hard and bitter. The king of Egypt commanded to Hebrew midwives to kill the male children given birth by Hebrew women and to spare the female children. "But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them." (Exodus 1:17, 20,21) Because the midwives feared God they protected Israelites male child, even taking risk of their lives and so God blessed their lives and provided households for them. When a person, a community or a nation fear God, He blesses them abundantly and provides their needs. Bible says in Psalms 34:10, "The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing." David who was a fugitive who was running for his life in wilderness, in caves and in mountains, who had no place where he can live peacefully who many a times thought that his life will end one day as king Saul was pursuing him as he says to Jonathan in 1 Sam 20:3, "But truly, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death." David who was wavering between life and death about whom Abigail says in 1 Sam 25:28-29 "For the LORD will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil is not found in you throughout your days. Yet a man has risen to pursue you and seek your life, but the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living with the LORD your God; and the lives of your enemies He shall sling out, as from the pocket of a sling." And further we see that not only God gave him rest from his enemies but also He gave him enduring home. A home which stands for ever and ever because David walked in the ways of God and feared God. And he saw the blessings of God in his life. If you want to see the blessings of God in your life, if you want enduring home which will never be destroyed, you need to fear God and do what He wants you to do, no matter what others say or think. Hebrew midwives did not care what Pharaoh said to them but they feared God and God provided households for them. God said to Solomon in 1 Kings 11:38, 'Then it shall be, if you heed all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then I will be with you and build for you an enduring house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you." But Solomon could not walk in the ways of God and lost his kingdom and all the blessings which God promised him. His kingdom was torn off from him and given to another and so many bad things happened because he did not fear God. My friend, if you want blessings of God in your life, you must fear God and do according to the will of God and you will see His blessings in your life. Genesis 1:28, Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." We read in Genesis that God made Adam but there was no companion or helper comparable to him and Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." (Genesis 2:18) Then we read how God took one of his ribs and made woman with that rib and brought her to the man. Bible further says in Genesis 2:23-25, And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed." We see in these verses that the first man and woman were united in marriage which was planned by God Himself. Yes, God instituted married life. One husband, one wife and children. When God created Adam and Eve, He blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it..." Yes, Bible considers marriage a blessing. We read in Proverbs 18:22, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD." But today many have distorted the very foundation of marriage, which was, founded by God Himself. Many think that Homosexual and Lesbian marriages are acceptable in the sight of God but Bible very clearly says that it is abomination before God. You can not get any blessings of God if you are united in this type of marriage and living in this life style. If anybody breaks the rule of God, he/she can not get blessings of God. God called man -husband and woman - wife and no one can change this status of husband and wife. Many think that it is impossible to have happy or blessed married life because two different persons raised in very different circumstances come together. But when God instituted married life what was in His mind? Did He create marriage so that people may fight with each other and live in turmoil? Let us go back to Genesis and see the first couple what their condition was. God not only made two different type of people (one man and one woman) but also blessed them as we read in Genesis 1:28, Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." 1. Blessed Life: The first thing we see is that God blessed them. Yes, my friend, God wants to bless you and your family. He made marriage so that you may be blessed. Adam and Eve were blessed people until they sinned. Before they were entangled in sin there was no pain or sorrow, no back biting, no death or no bad things but all these came when Adam and Eve sinned. They lost every good thing and blessings of God. But we can achieve the blessed life which God intended for human being by the shed blood of Jesus. When a person comes to Christ and when his/her sins are forgiven peace and joy comes in their lives and homes. God wants to give you a blessed home which is filled with laughter, joy and peace. If you think that your home is a hell on earth then you need to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He can make your home a sweet home - a blessed home. 2. Prosperous life:God said to them, "be fruitful and multiply." Yes, He is interested in your prosperity and fruitful life. As soon as people hear the word prosperous they think that it is talking about much money. But no, God is not only interested to give you prosperity in your finance and business but in every area of your lives. He wants to prosper you in every area of your life, physically, spiritually and materially. Bible says in 3 John 1:2, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." If you do not have a prosperous life, if you are fighting with your spouse all the time then how you can live a prosperous or blessed life? God never intended a cursed life for us but He wants to bless you in every area of your life. He is the God who makes every prediction of people false who think that two people can not live together with peace and joy. If you think that you are lacking this wonderful life, look to Jesus who can give you this beautiful life and make your home a sweet home - a blessed home.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
