Job 1:4-5, "And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly."Bible tells us that Job was a righteous man and a man who walked in the ways of God. His heart was always longing to do right things. The above verses tells us that job was not only concerned about himself but for his sons and daughters that he used to rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. Why? Because Job was afraid that his sons might have sinned and cursed God in their hearts so the God's wrath may not come upon him and his family. Unnecessary fear and anxiety! Fear for those things that may never come on our ways. What he feared for, it happened to him, he lost all his children in one day. He lost his health and even his wife stood against him. Sometimes we fear thinking our future and so many things. What would happen if it happens.. what if my wife or husband or children die? What if I will lose my job? What if... many are depressed today because they always think about tomorrow instead of enjoying the wonderful day God gave them. Fear of future will never bring any goodness in your life. My father was in a very high position and drawing a good salary every month but my parents always worried about their future and children's future. I never heard them saying, "We have money" but they always said, "We do not have any money". What they believed and what they confessed with their mouth again and again it happened to them. Even in the times when they had money they could never enjoy it because they were thinking about tomorrow. God does not want you to worry and always live in fear. Jesus said in Mat 6:25-33, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."Are you worried and are thinking what will happen to you or your household? Look to Jesus, He can help you! Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, ask Him to come into your life and take away all your worries and fear.
He will Guide you
John 16:13, "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."Jesus promised to send Holy Spirit after His departure from earth. Jesus told to His disciples that, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth. In another words He will lead you to the right path. Where you have to go, where not, what you have to do and what not, in everything He will lead you. And we read in Acts chapter 2 that when disciples and other people were gathered in one place and God sent His Holy Spirit and they were filled with Holy Spirit. We read further in the lives of disciples that God led them in every way of their lives. When we get this anointing of the Holy Spirit, He leads us in right path. He tells us where to go and what to do. In the times of where we can not know what decision we have to take, Holy Spirit helps us and tells us which way we have to go and what is right. I know one young evangelist who was serving the Lord. Once she got a prayer request and she was about to respond but Lord told that she should not respond him. She could not understand why God would ever say like this? She was puzzled and asked God, is it not a simple prayer request? Well, days and months passed by she regularly got letters from that man and he used to write, why you are not responding what is the reason? She always took a deep breath and said in her heart, I really do not know, why? One day she got marriage proposal of that man in her mailbox. Again she ignored it. Few more days passed by while one day opening her mailbox, she found some obscene pictures in her mails. These mails came from the same person whom God forbidden to respond. She was shocked, she could not believe. But then only she realized that why God gave her warning before hand.Yes, there is a God who wants to lead you in all truth so that your steps may not go in wrong places. He will show you light in your paths as Psalmist says in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." He wants to keep you safe from the snares of the enemy and wants to protect you, guide you and lead you in all truth.There are two types of voices, one is from God and the other is from devil that always wants to lead us in wrong way. How you will know that whether you are hearing the voice of God or devil's voice? Jesus said in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." If you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will know that whose voice you are hearing. You will know that whether you are listening to your Master or not! Once I read about two sisters. One day they heard an audible voice saying go in such and such place at night. They went there, there was absolutely nothing except a small shop that was closed. They heard the voice again telling them to go at the backside of shop. They went there again there was no one and there was nothing. They could not understand why they were asked to go in that place. When they went there they were possessed with evil spirit. How sad it is that they did not confirm that whose voice they were hearing and took the action. And the consequences were terrible. That's what happens when you fail to listen and recognize the voice of shepherd. Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. Apostle Paul said about the gift of discerning of spirits in 1 Corinthians 12:10. Today our Churches need this precious gift of Holy Spirit which exactly tells us which type of person we are dealing with, whose voice we are hearing and the person before is from God or not! If you have this gift then no one can fool you. You can discern the spirits by this precious gift. Yes, God gave nine different type of gifts for Churches but how sad it is that we have abandoned these gifts and we are thinking we can handle everything by our own power. No, my friend, you can not! If you want to live a victorious life you need to be equipped with these gifts. If you want to know which way you have to go and what to do, you need the mighty power of Holy Spirit. Will you ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit and with His gifts?
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 10th Aug. 2010
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 10th Aug. 2010
