Mark 15:21, "Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear His cross."This is the incident when Jesus was about to be crucified. They took Jesus, put a very heavy cross on Him and made Him to walk to the execution place so that He may be crucified. But Jesus was very weak as He was scourged one day before the execution. Jesus could no longer bear the cross. Then those who were taking Jesus for execution they compelled a man named Simon a Cyrenian to bear His cross. And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. But today, Jesus is looking for those who can bear His cross and walk in His ways. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."He is looking for young men and women who can pour their problems, sin and tears at His feet and take His cross and go to this world. His burden is light and His burden is easy. Every day you may be bearing tons of burden and pain but Jesus wants to take your burden upon Himself. Will you give your burden to Him? If yes, He will take your burden and make you free from bondage and sin and give you rest that world cannot give. He will fill you with His peace that world cannot give. Yes, His burden is light and easy to bear. He is calling you to take up His burden - the burden of perishing souls or those who are marching toward hell fire. Jesus wants to give this burden to you so that you may reach out and rescue the perishing. Will you accept this calling in your life?
Resurrection - Rays of Hope
When Jesus went through all the terrible, painful sufferings and death, His disciples were so frighten that they were hiding themselves. They were frightened, they were afraid, they had no peace as we read in John 20:19, "Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."Yes, death brings disappointment and despair in our lives. Death of a loved one is terrible. It brings tears and pain in our lives. Many live in depression after the death of their loved one. We can understand the pain of disciples who lost their beloved master in whom their future was depending. Not only they were afraid and disappointed but also their lives were in danger. But Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."Yes, the resurrection of Jesus brought hope and peace in the hearts of His disciples and others who loved Him. Jesus broke every power of death and came out of the grave. He rose again on the 3rd day. His resurrection brings hope and peace for us today also. Those who die in Christ are blessed because they will never die but live forever as we read in Romans 6:8-9, "Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him."Bible also says in Revelation 14:13, "Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them."Yes, those who die in Jesus they are not going to hell fire but they will rest from their labors and live in peace with God. John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."Jesus came in this world to give His life for us so that we may never die but have everlasting life and we may never go into judgment, but pass from death to life. Yes, there is a wonderful life for you which God wants to give you. If you want this life, if you want His peace and joy in your life, you have to accept Jesus in your life. When Jesus will come in He will give you a new hope that you will meet your dead relatives one day in heaven. This world's life is temporary and only for few years but we can meet our loved ones once again by accepting Jesus in our lives.
Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 13th May. 2008
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 13th May. 2008
