Persecution against Christians is not new in India but now it took a different turn when Ms. Jaylalitha the chief minister of Tamil Nadu passed new ordinance for Christians. In this ordinance if a person converts others to Christianity or attempts to convert others by any means will be thrown into prison and fined with a heavy amount. This ordinance also says, ""convert" means to make one person to renounce one religion and adopt another religion." It is surprising that the largest democratic country like India could bring this type of ordinance. In one anther news there is a report about one Christian individual whose two kids who were studying in a school at Ahmadabad in India were threatened saying, "Live as a Hindu or die as a Christian". They were told that if they want their lives they should renounce their Christian faith otherwise they should prepare for their death. Is this not conversion? And what is the use of converting a person using force or by threatening? It can only change the label of their religion like changing the label of a bottle from 'honey' to 'milk' or so.But these laws have nothing to do with conversion but as Jesus said in John 15:18-19 this world hates those who really loves the Lord and wants to walk in the ways of God. Jesus said, "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." Bible also tells us about many who were tortured and killed because of their faith. These types of things are not even new in the Bible. We read in Daniel 3:14-18, "Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up? Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." And when they refused to worship the God of Nebuchadnezzar they were thrown into the fiery furnace from where they came out without any burns or signs of burns. Yes, they had to risk their lives because they refused to bow down before idols. Paul says in Eph 6:12, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." If you are a Christian, if you really believe in Jesus Christ and walk according to the Bible, persecution is inevitable, tears will come, bad things will happen to you and your family but Jesus will be with you all the time. He will never leave you nor forsake you. True Christian life is not a bed of roses but it is the way of thorns and tears. David who went through terrible trials and tribulations in his life says in Psalms 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." What is your stand today? Are you afraid of persecution and torture and because of that are you thinking to go back to Hinduism or Islam? Jesus said in Matthew 16:24-25, "Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." And also in Luke 9:62, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Today Jesus is looking for faithful people who can take a stand for Christ and stand firm no matter what happens in their lives. Are you one of them?
Till this time you have read that, Gulshan Fatima was paralyzed at her left side when she was only 6 months old. Her mother died when she was an infant. Her father loved her so much that he took her to England for treatment but when they heard the disappointing words of doctor, "it has no cure", their hearts broke down. Her father encouraged her and said, "We will go to Mecca and knock the door of Allah, and he will heal you." So they went to Mecca and visited Ka'aba - the house of Allah. Even she kissed the cubical shape of ka'aba but to their utter despair nothing happened. To avoid her father's troubled look, she kept her face down. Then they visited Safa and Marva from where they bought Zamzam water. She bathed with that water but nothing happened. She and her father returned home heart broken. Next blow for her was, her beloved father's death!! But while she was so disturbed, she heard a low, gentle voice telling her to read about Jesus in Quran Sura Maryam. She started reading Urdu Quran and started praying, "O Jesus, Son of Maryam, heal me!! Three years later her prayers were answered with a marvelous vision of Jesus. Jesus personally came and healed her. From the very first day, she realized the growing opposition from her relatives and acquaintance. Three weeks after she got a Bible.******She came back home after getting a New Testament. At night she opened her New Testament and started reading. She was excited thinking, what it would be like? As she started reading, she discovered the verse and words spoken by Jesus, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life." She saw twelve figures with Jesus in her vision and as she read the Bible she realized that Jesus had twelve disciples also she found meaning of the word Immanuel - God with us in the New Testament. The more amazing part was, she found the Lord's prayer word by word as spoken by Jesus in vision. She could realize that Jesus is the Lord of life and that's why He could heal her and that He is no ordinary prophet but God Himself. He has power over everything. She also read about Baptism in Mark 1:9-11 where Jesus was baptized and in Romans 6:4, "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." She felt the newness and new life flowing in her body as if someone had merged her in refreshing spring. She recalled the day when she visited Mecca and sat on a stool as a sad person expecting a miracle when Zamzam water(water of life) was poured on her. But nothing happened that day. She said to herself, "I have obeyed the words of Jesus and witnessed. So now I have to take baptism. After taking baptism I can come and live in this house itself. Can't I?" She had no answer for her question but her father's face came before her eyes and she felt a great pain in her heart. She loudly said, "Sorry father, please forgive me but I have to follow Jesus." In those distressing moments she felt a great peace in her heart and she felt that this is the right way to go.By March 12 she read the whole New Testament and Martyrs book of Carthage. In that she read about the believers of early Church who were tortured for their faith in Christ and finally thrown before lions or put into fires or killed but remained faithful. These stories gave her an indication how her life would be in future but it did not change her mind. Next day she called Razia and from there she went to Major's house. This time Major's wife was also there. Gulshan pulled her Bible and showed the verse saying, "It says you must be baptized, will you baptize me?" Major told her about the dangers of taking baptism. He said, "If you take baptism, you may never be able to return home. Your family members may try to kill you no matter how loving they are at present." There was silence for a few moments. Her brothers cruel faces in family council flashed before her eyes. She also thought about her father's last words, "Take care of Gulshan" "They would at least follow his last sacred command, if not still I will follow Jesus who gave me life." So she told firmly, "Jesus Immanuel has told me to be His witness and the next step is Baptism. I would like to die rather than leaving Jesus and His peace which I have right now."Major looked at his wife then Mrs. Major said, "If Jesus has spoken to you so clearly then it is good to obey Him." And it was discussed how she can go to Lahore for baptism. She made her plans emotionally as she knew that because of her, Major and his family may be in danger. While thinking of taking baptism, she never thought about completely leaving her home forever but she thought that after taking baptism she will return and live in the same home where she grew up. Major told her not to bring any money or jewels as otherwise someone can sue Christians. Major's word made her think, "do I have to leave everything for Jesus' sake, money, jewellery, land, home, love and support of my family?"She asked Razia whether she could come and meet her within two days? Razia agreed. So Gulshan told her uncle and aunty that she will be staying with Razia for two days and then they will go to Lahore. She also told about giving a signed check of 75,000 Rupees so that they could pay all the bills while she would be away. Aunty did not like her plans and asked, "where would you stay in Lahore." She replied carefully, "I will stay in my brother or sister's home."Next day she visited her father's grave with her aunty. Her heart was heavy thinking about her father who taught her about the material heaven which was far beyond the truth. On her last evening in that home, she went to the garden where she used to sit in her wheelchair in the days of her disability. She looked around all the flowers and fruits. She stood at the place where her father's coffin was kept and her heart was filled with grief thinking about her father. She walked among the roses and thought, "Oh, do I have to leave all these things to be a follower of Jesus?" Suddenly she remembered the verses from the Bible in Matthew 10:38, "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me." She spoke to her thought, "No matter what, I will always carry this place in my heart."She returned to her room to pack. Next morning she signed two checks, one for an amount of 75,000 Rupees to uncle for the expenses of home and the other for Razia for 40,000 Rupees. On 15th March she left her home after kissing Aunty and her two maids Salima and Sema. She gave the check to Razia and said, "if anybody comes looking for me, let your mother talk to them telling that Gulshan and Razia have gone to Lahore." Razia was looking at her in doubt but she said, "I will do as you say to help you, we know each other well and we trust on each other." Gulshan then went to Major's house and on the same day traveled to Lahore by car. She was taken to one of the minister's house where Rev. and Mrs. Aslam Khan became her father and mother. The stay in that house was not very pleasant as she never did any work because of her disability. She had a few sleepless nights and she felt as if someone is saying, "its not too late, why don't you go back to your home. Your brother and sisters are crying..." Her uncle and aunt's sad faces flashed before her eyes She cried out to Jesus, "I surrendered all to you then why these taunting faces are coming before me?" She heard a soft voice saying, "I am always with you. They cannot harm you." She got a great peace and then after a week her troubles started vanishing and she became more active than ever. Five weeks after her stay in Rev. Aslam Khan's house, she was baptized. She was told that it was delayed because they wanted to make sure that her commitment was real. She wrote a letter to Razia about her delay but did not disclose the real reason for her stay in Lahore and asked her not to tell her family members where she is. Later on she found out that Razia and her mother kept her word faithfully and never told anybody about her whereabouts though it put Razia and her family in great trouble. Razia got married later. Gulshan attended Methodist Church there with Mr. and Mrs. Aslam Khan. She was impressed by the freedom of worship which was totally different from the ways of Islamic worship where only men go to mosques, but in Church the whole family attends and worships God. Quran says that women are inferior to men though they emphasize greatly about equality of both gender. She thought, how different are both religions regarding worship methods. In Christianity God deals with every soul through Christ who died for every person. She was warned by her host about telling much about herself. But she shared her experience with some of the Christians in Churches and they were amazed on hearing the rare experience of hers. At last the day of her baptism came on April 23rd. Major's and family, a few friends of theirs and hers gathered in a home where there was a tank for this type of events. As she was immersed inside the water, she felt as if she was leaving her old self and her old life and a new person is emerging. After baptism they gave her new name Gulshan Esther. Last week we discussed about creation account in Genesis Chapter one comparing it with different parts of Bible. We focused on eyewitness accounts. We discovered that God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and Angels have only one thing to say that God is the creator of the Universe and the earth.Today we are going to look into material evidences. I said to many people that I had a hobby of creating electronic gadgets and when I tell them that I had created automatic 'ON-OFF' pump system for overhead tank of my house. And that I had myself designed the circuit for it. First question I get is, does it still exist? I tell them, "No it does not". They still take it as true according to my words. I know that what I say is true but I don't have those things in existence to show as proof. God has claimed that He created universe, earth and many other things. Can we trace those things mentioned in Genesis. Do they exist today? Had they ever existed? Let us start with Genesis 1Gen 1:1-4, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so."Both heavens and earth exist today. Water mentioned in Gen 1:2 exists today. Darkness, Light also exists today. Gen 1:2 and Gen 1:9 makes us believe that dry earth was not visible first. As far as you can see you see only water. Do we have any evidence of it's possibility? Yes it is possible. If all the mountains are leveled and put in the sea, water will cover the whole earth and water will be far above the earth. Gen 1:3-4, "Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness."God created the light and divided the light from the darkness. Even before the sun was created yet there was light. Can light shine without Sun? Yes of course. We lit the candle, we lit the lantern and we switch on the bulb and it gives light everything in the absence of sun. Can you imagine a life without Sun giving light? Day is going to come when sun will not give light and light of sun will not be needed. Rev 22:5 "There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever." Does anybody know how to divide light from darkness? We don't need to, because God has already done that. This is the first law of physics. God defined that light will expel darkness. This law still exists. Can any body change it answer is only God can. In the same way God is light and the darkness of sin can be expelled only and only by God. Jesus did exactly the same for us when He hanged on the cross to die for our sins on our behalf. When Jesus comes into a person's life He expels darkness and gives light. John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."Let us look further what else God created. Gen 1:11-12, Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good."Grass, fruit, trees, seeds, herbs of different kinds category by category or species by species. Do they exist today? Yes they exists in plenty. Everywhere you go they are there. Another rule set by God was that they will be according to its kind. They will yield fruit and seed. They faithfully do it even today. Can they disobey God in the order God has given? Answer is no. They go on doing it again and again.Gen 1:16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.Gen 1:17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,Do the two lights and stars exist? Yes they do. Now there is a big debate on how can moon be light when it doesn't have light? Although moon doesn't have it's own light but it reflects the light of the sun and gives light. God calls moon light in exactly the same way he calls believers light.Eph 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of lightEph 5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),While believers don't have light of their own but they reflect the light of Christ. Although there are many who claim to be reflecting the light of Christ, but they are not, because they have not experienced the expulsion of darkness from their life. They still live in sin and even encourage others to live in sin. They only care that from outside they should look good and that every body appreciates them. But true light expels all darkness. For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth. If you are not focused on truth and righteousness know it if for sure that you are not the light, but a false imitator of the light.Gen 1:17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,God first created Sun, Moon and Stars. We don't know at which location he created them may be far away somewhere and verse 17 says He later set them in the firmament of the heavens. Exactly in the same way different parts are created in a manufacturing plant at different place and then assembled together later on. God created them and then set them up.Now scientist try to calculate the age of the universe by calculating the distance of stars. They have an assumption that starts have been moving the way it is moving. Universe has been expanding the way it is expanding. But they forget that God can place them where ever He wants in a split second.Calculating age by the current expansion is something like this. I constantly observe a car on Express Way in New York for an hour it is moving at a constant rate of 60 Miles/Hour. I assume that this car has been traveling in the same speed forever and also I assume it will be traveling in the same speed forever in the days to come. From there I calculate the distance from Moscow to New York and calculate that from the hours the car has taken to travel. Don't you see that some thing is wrong here? What is wrong? I did not take into consideration that there is a driver inside the car who has power to accelerate or decelerate the car. Even he has power to bring it to a total halt. Same way scientists forget that there is a God who is on the driver's seat having full control in His hands.Let's move on a look what else God created.Gen 1:20-25, Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens." So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so." And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.Fish, great sea creatures, birds, living creatures, cattle, creeping things, beasts each according to its kind. Do they exist? Oh yes, they exist in plenty. Are they according to their kind? Yes they are. So they also abide by the law God has given them or God has set.Gen 1:26-27, Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.God created man in His own image, in His own likeness. This is the man that is today rejecting God and asking all kinds of questions. All the creation works perfectly as God ordained it to work except humans. Humans are given free will and we exercised our free will and have raised our fist against God. God answered us back by sending His only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus never sinned but yet He became sin for you and me. Look to Him today and ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you with His precious blood. Invite Him to come into your heart. Please pray and request others to pray..A new ordinance has been brought in by the chief minister of the Indian state Tamilnadu to ban forceful conversions. When one reads the ordinance, it is clear that it can be misused and primarily targeted the christian community. As per the ordinance, it is must now to inform the local magistrate by church leaders before any conversion or baptism to take place otherwise they will be punished with imprisonment and fine. The ordinance uses loose terms "force", "allurement", "inducement", which can interpreted in anyway to arrest a Church leader. Education, social works, rural deelopment, any thing can be brought under "inducement". Please pray for protection of the Men of God doing His work in the state. Please pray for the Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha so that she understands the love of Jesus and withdraws the ordinance. Because Jesus loves her too. Also pray for the steadfastness and stong witness to be shown by all christians in the state and show Jesus at this hard times. One thing is sure, we are in End Times..God Bless YouEdward
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
