Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Bible tells us of many incidents when people were in distress and when they called upon God of the Bible and they got peace and deliverance from their problems. Before Jesus was born in this world Isaiah called Him as the Prince of Peace. Jesus Himself told the people in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Not only that, there are many specific references where Jesus has been entitled as "God of Peace". We read in Romans 15:33, "Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen."

A few days back, I read one article titled, "Is Jesus the only Prince of Peace?" By P.N.Benjmin, Coordinator, Bangalore Initiative for Religious Dialogue (BIRD) where it is said, "Peace can be understood in two ways. It can mean peace within the heart, a sign of calmness, tranquility. This is what the Hindus describe as shanthi or in Christian vocabulary it is the peace that passes all understanding. All religions, particularly the Hindu and the Buddhist, empahsise this inward character, the depth dimension, of peace."

Of course this article disturbed me from inside out and I thought, "Is it reality? When the Bible calls Jesus as the Prince of Peace, does it mean, the common peace, calmness or tranquility that we have in our surroundings? Can Hinduism or Buddhism give any peace to anybody? The more I thought, the more it led me to the answer, 'NO'. Ram, the Hindu god sent his wife away just to please the people and doubting that she was an adulteress. He was a man who had no peace in his own home, then how could he give peace to the world? The founder of Buddhism lived without hope. At his deathbed he told his followers, "Search your own way and find truth by yourself.”

But look to Jesus, who came down to this world, to give His peace to the world. When He was about to leave this world and when He looked at His disciples, He could see their troubled minds, when He said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me." (John 14:1-2). And further He said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Yes, Jesus wasn't speaking about the worldly peace, but He was speaking about the peace that world cannot give. He was speaking about the peace in the midst of your worst calamity. How, think about how you would feel when you lose your best friend or loved one, but even in this situation, you can have peace, that's what Jesus wants to give. Oh, that peace is incomparable and no one can give that peace to you except Jesus.

Many a times people ask me why I chose the name of my magazine "In Search of Peace"? The simple reason is, "many years I searched for peace vigorously. And the quest for peace brought me this far. I did not have peace in my home or in my life. We had everything in our lives - car, jeep, servants, money and luxury. But the only thing we were lacking was PEACE. Simple discussions always ended up in fighting. Most of the time when we gathered around at dining table it ended up in disaster. There were days when I longed to die rather than living like that, without peace. I longed that someone would tell me a solution to my problems of peacelessness. I tried everything to get peace. I went to Church every Sunday, did all the rituals exactly. I went to see movies after movies and read novels after novels to find peace but there was no peace. I spent hours with my Hindu friends, but no one told me any experience of getting peace in their lives. And unfortunately no one told me that Jesus is the answer for all my problems until one day I heard a radio program and I invited Jesus in my life. When Jesus came in, He gave me the peace that this world could not. He changed our home from hell to heaven. He wiped away our tears.

Jesus can do the same thing for you. Divorce is not the answer for your marriage problems. Suicide is not the answer for your problems, but Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace, is the answer. Look to Jesus, He can solve your problems; He can give you peace that this world cannot give. Invite Him in your life and in your family and He will bless you.

Why Sacrifice was needed?

By Sherly Isaac

Matthew 20:28, "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Many a times I have heard people saying that sacrifice is not necessary for the redemption of our souls. But the whole Bible tells us the importance of sacrifice.

1. To atone for our sin:
To know the reason why these sacrifices were necessary, one should turn to Genesis. Bible says in Genesis first and second chapters that when God created this universe, everything was perfect and beautiful. Every time when God created something, He looked and saw that it was good. But what happened to this world that it became so ugly and bad? Bible tells us the reason in the 3rd chapter of Genesis. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and the result was that sin, pain, sufferings, tears, problems and death came in this world. Before that, there was no sin, no pain, no suffering, no death. Just one sin brought disaster in this world. But God, who was so compassionate, did not destroy them, but made a way out. The same chapter, Genesis 3:21 says, "Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them." Though this verse does not directly say about sacrifice, but it is common belief that God made the first sacrifice for the propitiation of sin of Adam and Eve. Jesus did the same thing on the cruel cross. He gave Himself for the remission of our sins. He made a way out so that we may not walk in shame because of our sins. But He provided clothes of righteousness so that we can live a holy life.

2. To give eternal life:
Bible constantly talks about eternal life and eternal death. Bible also emphasizes that we cannot achieve eternal life by our own effort or by our wealth. Psalmist says in Psalms 49:6-9, "Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him; For the redemption of their souls is costly, And it shall cease forever; That he should continue to live eternally, And not see the Pit."

Daniel also spoke about end times and the life to come in Dan 12:2, "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt."

If a person cannot achieve eternal life with their wealth or money then what is the method to get into heaven? Jesus said in John 3:14-16, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

When Moses and the Israelites came into wilderness and when Israelites sinned against God, God's punishment came on them and He sent fiery serpents among them. And because of that many died. Then Moses asked God, "what to do so that people may not die because of serpent's bite?" God told him in Num 21:8-9, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live. So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived."

On the one side people were getting their punishment for their sin, but on the other side, God gave a solution so that a person who is bitten can look at that bronze serpent and live. Jesus gives the same example and tells people that just like Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness so that people could live and not die, in the same manner, Son of man is lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Yes, my friend, many thousands of years ago the serpent had bitten our parents and is still biting people. Therefore we are all heading toward death - eternal death. But God gave a solution for us, He sent His only begotten Son for us so that we may never die but have everlasting life, just by looking toward the Son (Jesus). When we have the solution, then why should we die the death of a fool? My dear friend, look to Jesus and get eternal life today.

He is ready to forgive and forget all your sins and He is ready to give you a new life. He is ready to wash away all your past. He is ready to take away every poison from your system and breath life so that you may not die but live forever.

3. To protect us:
Exodus 30:12 "When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give a ransom for himself to the LORD, when you number them, that there may be no plague among them when you number them."

God told Moses that they should sacrifice so that no plague may be among them. This type of similar incident we see when Israelites were in Egypt and when God sent plagues in Egypt. God told them to sacrifice a lamb and put some of the blood on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses so that they could be protected from the plague which was about to come in Egypt. We read in Exo 12:5-7, "Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it."

God wants to protect you from all evil, sicknesses, sin and problems. He wants to bless your life. And by giving His life for us, He sealed those blessings for us. Now it is up to us to take His blessings and protection or to reject those blessings. What would be your response today?

Praise Him

Our pappa got healed. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord Jesus. Our pappa is now able to read medium size letters. Doctors thoroughly checked him and they scanned his head three times. And they did not find any damage between brain and retina. Even they did not find any symptoms of damaged nerve. Doctor said it is a miracle. We believe that Lord Jesus touched our pappa. All these things happened on the last day of our fasting when his head hit on a pillar in the hospital. We believe that Jesus touched him and healed him the same day. Praise the Lord. Again we thank you for your prayers for our pappa, for our mummy, for me, for my brother and sister.
Praise the Lord Jesus.

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
