Genesis 25:20-21 says, “Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.” And Genesis 25:26 says, “…Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them (children).”In these verses we read about Isaac who had no children for twenty long years, but he pleaded with the Lord and Lord heard his prayer. But one can imagine what might have gone through his mind and heart all these years. On the one side he had all the great promises of God but on the other side he had no children. He was aware of the promises of God for him that God will make him a great nation. He grew up in a home where he might have heard about his miraculous birth story hundreds of times. Though he had no children for twenty long years, still he believed on God that the same God who blessed Abraham with a child would bless him too. And he pleaded with God for a child. God might have promised many things for you but do you have the heart to stick on with those promises? Many a times people just walk away from the promises of God being discouraged because they could not face those problems and heartbreaks which come on their way. Sometimes they murmur and lose the blessings of God. Many a times as time passes on, they lose their faith and forget the promises of God. And a time comes in their lives when they feel completely convinced that; there is no hope for them. Many could not bear the pain, sorrow and persecution, which come on their way. But victory is for those who stay on the promises of God and believe and trust on God with all their heart.Isaac was aware of the promises of God and though the situation was not favorable for him, still he believed on God. The result was that he received what he wanted and what was promised to his father. Last week I listened to a message by a leading evangelist named Tommy Tenney. He spoke from the book of Esther and said that Esther was sitting with her enemy at the same table and was having dinner with him and the king. But she was so focused on the king that she did not care about the enemy who was sitting at the same table. She knew that if the enemy tried to harm her, then the king had the power to protect her. Sometimes we are so focused on our problems and on our enemy that we forget about the might and power of the King of kings and Lord of lords. But if we look toward the almighty God and if our focus is on Him alone, enemy cannot do any harm to us. In Esther’s story we read that she was granted what she wanted and Haman - the enemy was executed by the king. There is blessing and goodness for those who trust in God and obey Him. My dear friend, If your focus is on God, you need not to worry about your problems, you need not to think about the enemy fearing what worst thing he could do for you, because God can protect you and make your life a blessing.
Last week I received these types of mail saying, “The 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington appear to be the fulfillment of prophecy in The Book of Revelation, chapters 17-19. I will update you on any clarification or confirmation.”Let us examine from the Bible whether these two chapters talk about America or not. The first three verses of 17th chapter tell us about the coming of the judgment on the great harlot with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and that the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication. In the third verse Apostle John saw the woman who was sitting on a scarlet beast, which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.One may ask, “what does it mean when it says about an adulterous woman?” Bible tells us that whenever people worshipped idols or other gods, God took that sin as adultery. Jeremiah 3:8-9 says, "Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also. So it came to pass, through her casual harlotry, that she defiled the land and committed adultery with stones and trees.”And also in Jer 5:7-13 says, "How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken Me And sworn by those that are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses. They were like well-fed lusty stallions; Every one neighed after his neighbor's wife. Shall I not punish them for these things?" says the LORD. "And shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this? Go up on her walls and destroy, But do not make a complete end. Take away her branches, For they are not the Lord's. For the house of Israel and the house of Judah Have dealt very treacherously with Me," says the LORD. They have lied about the LORD, And said, "It is not He. Neither will evil come upon us, Nor shall we see sword or famine. And the prophets become wind, For the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them.” These verses clearly talk about the nations who forgot the Almighty God as adulteress nations and the people as adulterers and God’s punishment will come upon them because they have blasphemed the most holy name of God and sinned against God. In general, if you look to the United States of America, this nation did not reject the God of the Bible. Founding fathers of this nation had proclaimed the word of God as written in the Bible and even today more than 30% of people are Christians. Many come to this nation and find Christ in their lives. This is the nation that sent the largest number of missionaries to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and this is the nation that spent the largest amount on Evangelism and Gospel work. But on the other side, Iraq, Iran and other Muslim countries have closed the doors of their nation for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Though they proclaim that Muslims believe in Jesus and respect Jesus more than Christians but still they reject the very important and basic teaching of the Bible and Jesus. They have forgotten the God of the Bible whom Abraham, Isaac and Jacob served and worshipped.Further we read in Revelation 17:5-6, “And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.”It is very clear that these two verses are talking about ancient Babylon where the blood of saints was shed where those who got saved and walking in the ways of God were killed. And moreover Bible is not the book of figurative writings. When God said “Babylon” he meant it Babylon and not any other country or city.Further the Bible says in Revelation 18:5, "For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.And in Rev 18:7, "In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.'We all know that Saddam Hussein glorified himself instead of glorifying God. Songs were sung glorifying him. If anybody raised voice against him, he/she was killed or their tongue was cut off. And if we read further, we can see that these two chapters continuously remind us that this is the judgment of God because the blood of prophets, apostles and saints of Jesus Christ was shed in that land and that land was defiled and that the wrath of God is on them. We read about this in Revelation 18:20 "Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!"Rev 18:23-24, “…for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth."Rev 19:2, "For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her."But the things we see today do not represent the complete fulfillment of the Book of Revelation. These things are only a small trailer of what is to come ahead in this world. There is still time to repent and to turn around form sin and accept the Almighty God so that you could escape the wrath of God. The coming of Jesus Christ is very near. Once He came as Messiah to die for us but this time He will come as King of kings and Lord of lords. Are you ready to go with Him when He comes? If you are not sure, then please pray this prayer with me:Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood. All these years I have rejected you and walked according to my own will but today I repent from my sins. And invite you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and bless me. Thank you Jesus for listening to my prayer. I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month.
