31st Oct. is the day celebrated as Halloween day. It is believed that souls of dead loved ones visit on this day. So some in fear and some for protection wear demonic makeup, costumes and put demonic symbols in their homes thinking that it will drive away those demons or dead souls. And it is amazing that many Christians also copy others in these things. Many a times I read about Balaam in the Bible and always wondered how God could use a sorcerer or diviner and give prophesy to him? These thoughts always bothered me that a man who was speaking genuine prophesies hearing from the God of the Bible is at the same time called wizard or magician. How is it possible I thought, until we had an encounter with a person who was saved and was filled with Holy Spirit but on the other side was involved in sorcery. It seems that either he did not completely give up his old habits of wizardry or when he had backslidden his old habits came back and took control of him. One example from Bible is Saul, who was once filled with Holy Spirit and was so zealous for God that he destroyed all the wizards, sorcerers, soothsayers and diviners from Israel. But a time came in his life when God stopped speaking to him and he turned to a medium as we read in 1 Sam 28:6-7, "And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her." And his servants said to him, "In fact, there is a woman who is a medium at En Dor."Saul went to the medium in frustration because God was not answering him. Yes, it is possible for a person to live double life putting his one leg in the world and the other with God. God allows these things for some time, but the end of it is tragic and deadly. Bible tells us that Balaam was not obeying God with all his heart. What God told him not to do, he did the same. He went to curse Israel against the will of God and the result was that God's wrath came upon him. He died a tragic death. God revealed to us so many things about these witch doctors who control people's lives with their witchcraft. Once a person doing witchcraft sent death and defeat for us by doing his witchcraft, but it did not affect us because God was standing around us as a mighty wall. Whenever he tried to do some harm by sending evil spirits it bounced back to him because Jesus is our protector. He protected us from all evil and sustained us. The same Jesus will do it for you.Once I heard the true story of a young man in Africa. He got saved and a great change came in his life. He started preaching the love of Christ in the same village where he was living. There were many sorcerers who did not like this young man. So the head sorcerer cursed him and said, "within three days you will die." When the young man heard those words, he was afraid in his heart, but by taking authority in the name of Jesus he said, "Why will I die but you will die instead of me." Young man went home with a broken heart and fasted for three days. Sorcerer did all kinds of witchcraft and sent evil spirits to kill that young man but nothing happened. On the third day this young man heard a great sound and saw something flying down and falling in front of his house. It was nothing but the body of the sorcerer lying there. What he tried to do to the young man returned to him. Yes, if Jesus is with you, then you need not to fear demons or evil power. You cannot protect yourself from demonic forces by putting evil symbols in your houses or by going house to house asking for candy but by the mighty power of God. If you believe in Jesus with all your heart, He will protect you from all evil. Bring all curses and spell ever done or spoken against you under the blood of Jesus. Blood of Jesus has power to cancel every evil plot.
Ahab married Jezebel who was the daughter of the king of the Sidonians and it made him to fall in greater sin. He served and worshiped Baal. He made altars for Baal and made idols. Bible says in 1 Ki 16:33, "And Ahab made a wooden image. Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him." Jezebel was an idolater and her influence made king Ahab to live in greater sin. Bible says in 2 King 9:22, "Now it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, "Is it peace, Jehu?" So he answered, "What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?" She controlled the whole nation with her witchcraft. Even she sought and massacred the prophets of God. When Elijah challenged all the prophets of Baal and brought fire from heaven and killed all the prophets of Baal, Jezebel got very angry. She sent a messenger to tell him that, he will be killed by the next day. But Elijah got away from there and hid. Ahab wanted to purchase the vineyard of Nabath for money or in exchange for some other piece of land. But Naboth said that he cannot sell his vineyard because he got it as inheritance from his fathers. Ahab went home sullen and displeased and refused to eat. Jezebel asked what happened? He told everything. Then Jezebel said, "Are you not a king over Israel... I will give you vineyard of Naboth to you." And further we read how treacherously she acted and killed that innocent man. Bible says in 1 Kings 21:8-14, "She wrote letters in Ahab's name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth. She wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and seat Naboth with high honor among the people; and seat two men, scoundrels, before him to bear witness against him, saying, "You have blasphemed God and the king." Then take him out, and stone him, that he may die. So the men of his city, the elders and nobles who were inhabitants of his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them. They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth with high honor among the people. And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!" Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died. Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, "Naboth has been stoned and is dead."When Jezebel heard that Naboth was dead she told Ahab the king. So he went to take possession of that vineyard. But God took it very seriously. God sent Prophet Elijah to convey the calamity which he will encounter because of his wickedness. God said to Elijah in 1 Ki 21:19 "You shall speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: "Have you murdered and also taken possession?" ' And you shall speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: "In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, dogs shall lick your blood, even yours."' " He further said in 1 Ki 21:21-25, 'Behold, I will bring calamity on you. I will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab every male in Israel, both bond and free. I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and made Israel sin.' And concerning Jezebel the LORD also spoke, saying, 'The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.' The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Ahab and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field. But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up."Bible documents that those prophecies were fulfilled exactly as Elijah spoke. This is what happens when a person commits sin against God. There is sure punishment for your wrong doings. Jezebel might have thought that she is the queen and she could do anything no matter how mean she had to be. She used force and killed Naboth. But God who judges righteously could not see the wickedness of them and sent prophet Elijah.You may be living a wicked life today and may be thinking that it will not harm you. But there is a God who executes judgment with all righteousness. But if you repent from your sins, He is ready to forgive you. When Elijah came to Ahab and said the words of God to him, Ahab repented from his sin. We read in 1 Kings 21:27-29, "So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, "See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house."Yes, there is forgiveness if you repent and turn from your wicked ways. Jesus came for the very purpose so that we may live a blessed life. Give Him a chance, He will never let you down.
Praise The Lord Sister,Your testimony really touched me. I will definitely pray for you. I believe God still works through the prayers of HIS people. Sister even I have one prayer concern to share with you. I belong to a fellowship that is in financial crisis. For the past 22 years we have been praying in this building. But now that pastor who owns the building is telling pastor uncle to buy that place or vacate it. We are very troubled as pastor uncle works in midst of very simple and poor people. We have some how arranged for 60% of money (10 lacks out of 17 lacks) but we are not able to arrange for rest of the money. Sister please pray that God will intervene in this matter and talk to that Pastor so that he can relax the time or amount and that this God's ministry should not suffer. He wants us to pay in full by October 31st or vacate that place immediately. Around 80% of church believers are rickshaw pullers, maidservants, and very poor and humble people. Please pray sister that this ministry survives the testing times. I don't know sister if there are some Christian organizations that can come forward and help us in this time of trouble. It is my personal request to pray for me as I find a lot of enemies in my deeds and ways, unnecessarily. I want to work for my loving God, let His wisdom and knowledge pour upon me. As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
