Bible says in Prov 11:19, "As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death."

We also read in Prov 8:35-36, "For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD; But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; All those who hate me love death."

The above verses speak about life and death which is not going to end with our physical death. But will go beyond this life. In the garden of Eden, God warned Adam that on the day he will eat the fruit of the tree, he will die. It happened when Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree and became transgressors of the commandment of God. They did not die physically on that day but they died spiritually. Their soul became dead and sin separated them from God and His presence. That is the reason why Bible gives much emphasis on receiving Life.

Psalmist says in Psa 119:25, "My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word." And in Isa 57:15, "For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

Yes, This was the very reason why Jesus came down in this world to give us new life - a life that will never fade away. How can we obtain this wonderful life? Bible says in Prov 8:35 that, "whoever finds me finds life.... but he who sins against me wrongs his own soul and those who hate me love death."

When we read the whole chapter we can understand that these verses are talking about finding Wisdom. Now this is not a worldly wisdom but finding the wisdom of God or knowing the wisdom of God. Bible says that Jesus is the wisdom of God as we read in 1 Cor 1:24, "but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." In Prov 2:10-11, "When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you.." We also read that Wisdom will protect you from all evil and perverse ways. In Rev 3:20 Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

Today wisdom is knocking at the door of your heart, are you willing to hear His voice and open the door for Him so that He could come in and dine with you? He will give you new life taking away the filth of your wrong doing. But if you continue in your sins and wrong doing there is sure punishment for it. Bible says in Prov 11:21, "Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered."

There is only one way to escape punishment of God and that is by receiving forgiveness of your sins and live a righteous life. It is only possible by the blood of Jesus which was shed on the cruel cross. You may be living in sin and may be thinking that there will be no consequence of your sin. But you are wrong. You will stand before the judgment seat of God and at that time no one can help you. You will weep and shout, you will justify yourself by lame excuses but it would be of no use. That is the reason why Wisdom is calling you today and saying, come and repent from your sins. Jesus said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."

Come to Him and He will forgive all your sins and make you a new person. If you want this new life please pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I have walked in evil ways. Please forgive me and forget all my sins and wash me in your precious blood. Today, I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and make me a new person. Help me to live a holy life. Preserve my life, protect me from all evil. Lord Jesus, I know that you have heard my prayer and so I praise you. I pray all these things in Jesus name, Amen.

Is Quran the word of God?

By Sherly Isaac

2 Tim 3:16-17, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Paul tells us in these verses about the Bible that it is "God breathed" or given by God Himself. Bible study notes say, "Part of the term translated "inspired" (pneustos, Gk.) is derived from pneuma (Gk.), meaning "spirit." Peter says how prophets of God received prophecy in 2nd Peter 1:21, "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." Paul further writes to Timothy why Scripture was given. He gives the reason that Scripture is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The bottom line is, 'Scripture is given to equip a person for every good work' and given by Holy Spirit or Spirit of God. Holy Spirit is holy and there is no sin in Him. So when we examine anything which people call word of God, should be examined whether it leads to holiness, good work, profitable for doctrine, for correction and useful for making a person godly.

Now let us look whether Quran fulfills these criteria or not?

1. Inspired by God or given by Holy Spirit?:

If you look at the life of Muhammad the founder of Islam, we see that he was willing to marry his adopted son's wife. So he got these words from Allah in Surah 33:50, "O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful."

In other words, marrying his adopted son's wife was made legal as we read in Surah 33:37. Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah.s command must be fulfilled.

So we can easily understand that Quran is not given by Holy Spirit and Quran is not inspired by God because the Bible tells us that God cannot tolerate any kind of sin, adultery, fornication and any kind of wrong doings. Bible is very clear about sin and its consequences. But through the above Surahs, Quran does not warn a sinner from committing sin. Instead Allah encourages sin with his words.

To be continued...

Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer on 8th Dec.. 2015

As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
