Contents of this issue
The 1st chapter of Genesis tells us how marvelously God created this world. There was nothing on earth, no firmament, no sun, stars or moon. There were no beautiful seas, rivers or flying birds. There were no cattle, creeping animals, insects or domestic animals but it was completely void. I cannot imagine how it would have looked but it is certain that it wasn't good.But a day came when God decided to create the world. And Bible tells us that He spoke, "Let there be light" and it happened exactly. Then He said, "Let there be a firmament..." and it happened exactly. Then He said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear" and it happened exactly as God had spoken. Likewise He created sun, moon, stars, trees, bushes, plants, birds of the air, animals on earth, creatures in sea and of water just by saying His Word. How powerful His word is that He just spoke and all these things came into existence. Just He spoke the word and things which were not in the scene just started appearing. Why? Because His Word is creator Himself. After all who is this Word? Bible says in John 1:1-3, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." Further we read in John 1:14, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."The "Word" of God, Jesus, came down in this world and walked among us with the same authority which He had in the beginning. When He performed miracles people were astonished as we read in Luke 4:36, "Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."Jesus gave the same authority to the believers as we read in Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." But unfortunately today many of our churches have underestimated the power of the Word of God, Holy Spirit and God Himself. No wonder many who call themselves to be Christians have turned their back to the living God and trusted on witchcraft and idol worship. There are many Churches in UK where membership is very thin. Many Churches are either closed down or converted into Mosques. Why? Because no one wants to go in the Church and get bored. But the Word of God brings great joy in one's life if it is preached in accordance with the will of God and with power of the Holy Spirit. When Paul and Barnabas were sent by the Church to preach the Gospel, they brought great joy in that land as we read in Acts 15:3, "So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren."Today you may be facing unending problems, sicknesses and troubles in your life but Jesus the Word of God can help you. His one word can bring you out of your troubles, heal your sicknesses and solve your problems. His one word can create things which is not in the scene. His one word will restore your messed up life. Look to Him, He is ready to help you.
Last time we saw some of the points of Apostle’s doctrine. Today we are going to see it in little detail. Ok so what was the Apostle’s doctrine first of all?Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. It speaks about three things.1. You must repent to get saved, (repent for the remission of sins)2. Get Baptism after salvation (repent and let every one of you be baptized)3. After salvation you’ll receive Holy Spirit (and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit)1.Salvation through Repentance: Acts 2:38 describes that Salvation comes only through Repentance. There is no other way to get saved. God has given human beings a free-will. God does not force anybody to do certain things. He has given us a choice. Whether we want to repent from our sin or not is purely our choice. God has nothing to do with it. God says, “why should you perish?” God does not want to see anybody going to hell fire, but..but God is a good God He doesn’t interfere with anybody’s life. He did not make us as a machine so that He can push the button and we should do things like Robot. No! That’s God’s greatness. But unfortunately we human beings take advantage of God’s goodness and think, “I am the master of my life. No-one should dictate to me what I’ve to do or what not to do”. I heard many say on TV, “It is my life, it is I who have to decide what I’ve to do with my body. It is my choice to decide whether the unborn baby of my womb should live or die (It is women’s right to choose). It is my choice to do drugs. My parents do not have any authority over my body”. Well who gave you the right to kill or keep the baby? Who gave you the right to do drugs? Who gave you the right to do whatever you want to? God did not give that right. You are not the master of your life because you must know that even the breath you breath is from God. Always remember that the very breath of yours is also borrowed one. The day when God thinks that you are no longer good to live in this world at the very same moment you will be gone. Life and death are in the hands of God. You are not God to decide. Hello my Doctor and nurse friends, God did not give you authority or right to kill a baby. You cannot take somebody’s life and still think that you’ll be going to heaven. Killers, murderers cannot have a place in heaven. Bible says that killers will not inherit heaven. (Gal 5:21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.). Alright what is the teaching of the mainline churches about Salvation? Salvation is received through child baptism: They teach that when a child is baptized he/she receives salvation and that’s why all the pastors teach that, “we are all saved and spirit filled people and we are all going to heaven”. Well Bible doesn’t support this theory. I do not find a single verse in Bible which ever speaks about “Child Baptism”. Bible speaks about salvation, and that is only through “Repentance” not through child baptism. A child cannot repent, a child doesn’t know when he/she was baptized, what kind of dress he/she wore, what kind of hair style he/she had. So how can a child repent from his/her sin and get saved? Impossible!!! If you want to get saved, if you want a place in heaven you need to repent and get rid of your sins and need to stay sin-free till the end. This is the mandatory requirement for a person to get a place in heaven. Think about your self, have you ever repented from your sins, did you ever feel sorry for the things you have done? Have you ever thought that watching filthy, and lustful stuff like movie, serials, talk shows, beauty pageant shows etc. are not right in the sight of God? Have you ever thought that reading filthy stuff in magazines/novels are not right in the sight of God? Have you ever thought that drinking wine/strong drink is an abomination in the sight of God? Have you ever thought that practicing witchcraft to kill other people or destroy them is a grave sin in the sight of God? There are many other things which come in such category and are not holy in the sight of God. Here is a short list: 1 Cor 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 1 Cor 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.2. Baptism after Salvation is the valid Baptism:Yes Bible speaks so!! Bible no-where describes about child baptism. There is not a single instance of child baptism in the Bible. I don’t find any, none what so ever. We find from Bible that John the Baptist was baptizing people. He was giving the baptism of repentance. Mat 3:1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, Mat 3:2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" Bible clearly says, that he was baptizing only those people who were confessing their sins and whoever did repent, no child baptism (baptism of un-repentance) here what so ever. Mat 3:6 and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. Confession of sin is really repentance so here again no child baptism but baptism only after salvation or repentance. Mat 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance,…Bible talks about Baptism after Salvation and that is the only valid baptism in the sight of God. Jesus Himself took baptism by the hand of John. Jesus did not need repentance because He is the son of God, He is holy, sinless, pure. But still He said, “let’s fulfill all the righteousness” and He took baptism through John. Thus Jesus Himself gave green signal for John’s baptism of repentance. Jesus Himself proved that this is the valid and right kind of baptism i.e. baptism after repentance or after confessing sins. Mat 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.Mat 3:14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?"Mat 3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him. What Jesus did, again proves that repentance is needed first then only baptism is required. Baptism taken before salvation is meaningless, thus it is null and void in the sight of God. Look, I am speaking from the Bible. That’s what Bible says. There are many more references in the Bible about such baptism. So one baptism is needed according to the Bible and that must be valid one. Somebody asked reading my previous message, “I am from hindu family and got saved now do I need to take baptism?” Well if you are a saved person I would say, “go ahead and fulfill all the righteousness about which Lord Jesus is talking to”. If I were you I would not hesitate to take that one but valid baptism. Though Jesus the son of God who had no need to take baptism, did take baptism to fulfill all the righteousness, then why not you? If I were you, I do not want to lose heaven just because of the lack of one valid baptism; I do not want to lose heaven just because of my unsaved Pastor, or unsaved church. Certainly Not!! 3. Anointing of the Holy Spirit after Salvation:Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The above verse clearly speaks about it. The verse says, first Salvation then Baptism and third gift of the Holy Spirit. If you look at the baptism of Jesus you can see all these things fulfilling in the same order. As I said earlier He is God so He did not need salvation but still He took the baptism of repentance. And after baptism when He came out of the water Holy Spirit descended upon Him like a dove. Mat 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him”. Jesus Himself fulfilled Acts 2:38 to show us that this is the right kind of procedure to reach heaven. Alright what is the teaching of the mainline churches about Holy SpiritPeople receive Holy Spirit at confirmation:First the child receives salvation when parents bring a child for baptism and later on when they are confirmed through confirmation they receive Holy Spirit. That’s what the mainline churches teach. Do you see anything like that from Bible as Bible speaking? I don’t. There is not a single verse in the Bible which could prove this theory. In the first place, when a child is not saved during child baptism how can the same child receive Holy Spirit? It is based on false theory. Well if you say that during the time between baptism and confirmation the said child got saved I can believe that it could happen through repentance. But still you cannot say that the said child gets the anointing of the Holy Spirit at confirmation. Why? Because there must be some outward sign which should show up that could prove that a person got anointing of the Holy Spirit. What is this outward sign? Bible says in more than one place that, “those who received Holy Spirit they spoke in new tongue or another language”. You can read more about anointing of the Holy spirit.Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. Acts Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.Have you ever seen anybody speaking in tongues during confirmation? Then how can you say that all the church goers are saved and sprit filled? My dear friends, think about it in the light of The Bible where you stand today? Are you really a saved person? Do you know with surety that you have a place in heaven? If not please let not the time and the hour run out from you. Life is too short to live. Please don’t lose heaven because your unsaved Pastor or church said, that all are going to heaven. Come to the foot of the Cross repent from your sins and receive the assurance of reaching heaven today itself.
Our "Standing in the Gap - Fasting prayer meeting" will be conducted on 13th July 2004. In this Fasting Prayer special prayers will be offered for troops that are deployed in difficult areas where conflict is going on. We will be praying for their protection. As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
