Once a prophet's daughter-in-law came to Elisha and cried out saying, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.(2 King 4:1)" This woman was in great trouble. Her husband was dead and she had no money. Her debt was mounting and it came to the stage when she was at the verge of losing her two sons. Creditors were bugging her. Oh, she had no idea what to do in that condition. She was completely devastated. She was torn between creditors and her God in whom she and her husband trusted. Will her God whom she and her husband trusted and feared, leave her? Will the almighty God who has been refuge and strength for her all these years, let her down? Will she lose her children. Those thoughts might have haunted her badly. But she knew that the God of the Bible can help her and deliver her from the hands of her creditors. She knew that her and her husband's God will not let her down. She knew the God of the Bible that He does mighty things as Job says in Job 9:10, "He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number."She went to ask Elisha to know the will of God, what to do in that circumstance. So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.(2 King 4:2)" The woman had nothing but a jar of oil. But how God turns small things into big profitable things. We read further how God performed a miracle in her life. We read in 2 Ki 4:3-7, Elisha said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors; empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones. So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not another vessel." So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest."She was an ordinary housewife. She had no skills of production, marketing or selling her products but overnight God made her an entrepreneur. Within one day she was in the business which she never knew. The business was able to make her debt free and live her life after that. When we trust in God, He does the same for us. He will not allow His children to be taken as slaves. He will not allow His children to lose their property, their children, their assets. If you fear God, He will protect you and will make a way for you.Oil also represents Holy Spirit in the Bible. In the book of Acts, God filled the people with Holy Spirit so that His light should be shown to the world. If God has filled you with the Holy Spirit, it is your duty to spread the light of His Gospel to others and make others get filled with the Holy Spirit.Today you may be in the same situation as this woman was, who lost her husband and was about to lose her two sons. You may be at the brink of losing everything but if you look toward God, He will not let you down. He will make a way for you.
In a tiny village near Nuremberg there lived a goldsmith who had eighteen children. The goldsmith was not very good financially to provide his big family. He worked almost for eighteen hours to provide for his family but it was not enough. Albrecht Dürer and one of his brothers wanted to learn in art school but they knew that their father may not be able to financially support them. They decided to go to art school in turn. They came up with a plan that they would toss and the loser will go to the nearby mines and earn money and will support his brother (the winner) for four years of study. After the four years the winner will support the loser brother to study art with his earnings.Albrecht Dürer won the toss and went in art school at Nuremberg. And the other brother went down into the mines to work and support him for four years. Albrecht Dürer devoted his time to pursue his lifetime dream to become a great artist. He worked very hard while his brother supported him with his earning of hard labor. Years passed by and one day Albrecht Dürer returned home after becoming a famous artist. He offered his support for his brother to send him in art school so that he could also become a good artist like him. But little did he realize that years of sacrifice in hard work in the mines and arthritis had bended and twisted his fingers so badly that he was unable to even hold a pencil to draw. He said, it is too late for me to go to art school.One night when his brother knelt down to pray having his hands folded and stretched skyward, Albrecht Dürer heartbroken, sketched those bended, twisted, marred hands, the hands which enabled him to pursue his dreams. Because of his brother's great sacrifice, his dreams came alive.Today also because of the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the dreams of ours came alive. Because He gave His life, we can have a better tomorrow. Do you have a dream, it can come alive because Jesus sacrificed His life for you.

In year 1985, I have read an advertisement at the back page of Bro. Dhinakaran’s magazine. I still have a copy of the magazine at my house in Kerala. I don’t remember the exact wording, but it is similar to what is given hereunder - “Parents, if your child is below the age of 25, please donate Rs. 2,500 to Bro. Dhinakaran, in the name of your child. Brother Dhinakaran will pray to God. And God will bless your child in his education and protect him from sickness, ------------ etc. etc.” I would like to know your reaction on this statement of Bro. Dhinakaran. When I, my sister and my brother were teenagers, my parents enrolled us in this plan and I can say that because of the prayers of Bro. Dhinakaran and others God protected us from all evil, helped us to excel in our studies, in our working places and in our ministry. God prospered us and blessed us beyond our imagination.In my childhood I remember, we were sick almost all the time and had to go to hospital frequently. But it was God who healed us completely and gave us good health.I know many who started ministry with us but today many of them faded away. Many have simply vanished from the scene. They are nowhere in the ministry. But it was the prayers of righteous people which protected us and helped us to be in the ministry. There were times when we thought, we may not be able to handle it anymore. There were times when we shed bitter tears but it was the prayers that did uphold us from falling.How could anybody ever survive when many wants to see you dead? Nothing but the prayers of righteous people. The Bible says in James 5:16, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
As the Bible says in Ezekiel 22:30 "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it." And also the Bible says in Numbers 16:48, "And he (Aaron) stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped." We have fasting prayer every second Tuesday of each month. Our next fasting prayer meeting will be conducted on 16th Nov. 2015
